I have a feeling you and roos 10 are going to be best friends.

roos 10 luv ya but reckon if you had your way you'd:

Split 3 into 9 + 20

Split 9 + 20 into 22 26 28

Split 22 26 28 into 25 30 35 40 45 50
Na I am converted in keeping 2and 3 sheezel wardlord
But I would trade 23,40,43 too get another high pick

Yep.

I'd do that for sure.

Keep 2 as our "gun" we want and load up with more picks as they are the future.

"Hedging your bet" is how I'd approach it.

I don't see why splitting our picks to improve faster is a bad idea.

People can laugh sure but I think it's worth considering- as we so bad we need as many players as possible incoming.

We used a very good pick on Polec.

Other clubs pick terrible top 5 0layers.

We need more picks so the chance of screwing it up is lowered.

Boyd. Fail. Hogan. Fail. Raynor. Fail. Patton. Fail. McCartin. Fail. McGrath. Watts. Fail.

I'm sure you'll be proven correct.

However if I could split the 2 and 3 i would.

We need much more with Goldstein, Cunners and Hall likely retiring at end if 2023.

All good, to me sharing opinions is a fantastic part of the forum.

MLC

2024 for Cunners?

Nah I'd pass.

Cream of the crop all the way. 2 and 3 - hold.

There's always outliers but a lot of outright guns inevitably pop out of the top 5 picks.

Cunnington, Martin, Petracca, Franklin, Hodge, Roughhead, Judd, Wells, Riewoldt, Kelly, Brayshaw etc.

The odds heavily favour you finding gems if you take your shots in the top 5.
Yes well we did snaffle our best player and next CPT with pick 12.

So you never can tell . Tbh I just want the Ward of Law.
And I’m sure “ by the seashore”will also prove to be an astute pick up.

It's not a bad idea bringing in a collection of young talent but we still need more elite talent first and no club has 3 top 10 picks to trade for 2 and 3.
I'd consider a drop from pick 3 to pick 4-6 range depending what the offer is from those clubs in addition to that early pick.
It's an interesting one, like would you take Bailey Humphrey and say Oliver Hollands vs one of Sheezel/Wardlaw/Tsatas? But there's not too many clubs that have two or three top 10 picks to trade for picks 2 and 3 that would make you think about it.
My take is get the elite top 5 talent now whilst we're not good and as the team rises up the ladder in future years you could look to split picks in the 5-9 range for picks in the 10-18 range and get that collection of young talent that are more needs based to round out the list.
We may be able to do that with the Port pick depending where it lands next year.

I did have a similar thought in terms of Essendon pick 4 & their future first. If they decide they really, really want Wardlaw.
Death riding them would make it almost worthwhile if we had any doubts at all on Wardlaw from either a talent, or a body perspective.

Remember The Other Dean 's?

Trevor Keogh = The Toe.

Not only a double-ended nck name, but both versions are a large Japanese city.

It can never be surpassed and I doubt it will be equalled.
The TOD’s should be in a category all of its own as that is elite and, like you say, unlikely to be surpassed or equalled.

The rare Devil Fish double banger! (as I understand it) is a double ‘The’. RobZombie bestowed me with the honour for:
George Wardlaw = The of The Jungle.

A much more realistic goal for us mere mortals nowhere near the level of The Other Dean

EDIT: RZ has explained The Rave Devil Fish Double Banger, I stand corrected, it is indeed as per TOD’s and not a double ’The’.

For every Jy there's a Durdin though.

Top 5 picks are hard to come by but are the silver lining of being utterly shit.

When you get them I say you use them.

Yeah those years we were crying out for top end picks and now ppl want to trade top 5 picks for Death Valley picks.

Worth noting that in many recruiters eyes, Jy was only not a top 5 pick because he broke his leg.

It’s one time we got lucky. I’ve got a whole notebook of times we haven’t if you need further convincing.

Oh. No, the Double Banger in that case was “George of the jungle” / “law of the jungle”. Did you not even mean that?

If we split the picks into late first rounders and early second rounders we effectively reinforce the list with the same type of blokes we delisted only 2-3 years ago.

Get as much elite talent as we can so we can build around them rather than top up on safe B graders at best finishing mid table.

We need to finish the build properly.

Just give me Wardlaw and Sheezel, trade 40 and 43 for something nice and see Lemmey slide to our #1 rookie pick, roll on 2023
