For the Meek trade, would we prefer:

Jai Serong, straight swap.
Add something and go for DGB
The F2 that we'll probably need for Sharp

(Brockman has just signed a 1 year extension, and is off the table)
Barrett asking about DGB was odd today, there must be a little something there from either us or WC

Yeah, there's been no other word or whisper from anywhere.

They're the little tidbits that are useful.

Checking the Hawks board, he's contracted through to 2024 so whatever is there would be a pipedream I'd imagine.

I'm not too big on him anyway tbh, I have been extremely whelmed from watching him and I would certainly hate to think we are looking at spending even more capital on a defender

Is Jai Serong a better option to Ed Allan? Seem very similar and Hawthorn's 2nd would get him.

Yeah I personally like him from what I've seen but it's surprising just how many hawks posters there are predicting he'll be a bust.

It seems we have been working with Port to upgrade pick 13 to pick 8. Melbourne know this and want something earlier but let’s be honest they aren’t going to be knocking back pick 8 plus decent change.

Melbourne dig heels in and say top 7 pick plus F1st knowing that is higher than any pick we can actually acquire. We upgrade 13 to pick 8 and offer that alone.

Ends up being something more like the Hogan trade:
8 + PP-F2nd (20-24) > Jackson + 43

I reckon PP-F2nd with change will be enough for Melbourne to secure Brodie Grundy.

Yep, get the pick swap sorted, offer 8 and whatever else nice and early. Leave it there for 3-4 days, if not taken up then shop 8 and split it up to another buyer. From memory, that’s what St Kilda did to the pick we were all expecting to receive for Hill.

Watch Melbourne shit the bed then.

"MELBOURNE will push to receive a pick within the opening seven selections of the draft as well as a future first-round pick in exchange for Luke Jackson."

Holy shit

Reading the afl article, it sounds like the idea is

Melbourne gets pick 8 and our F1st
Port get pick 13 and a 2nd
Freo get Jackson

The sticking point is who pays Port the 2nd rounder.

Personally, I think Port could get more for a slide that far.

May need to add Richmond in as well, get the graham deal mixed in there.

Wise wise. I'll shut the f*** up then :tearsofjoy:
I just figure, with Heppell and jj now out of reach, we need a new target.

Freo have failed us in the past, but not this time. Not this time

Melbourne are in the same position we were with cerra. Young future star, top 10 pick already playing a key role. But uncontracted so little to no leverage. Will also probably end up 8 (from Port) and change after all the posturing is said and done. Sux for them, and us last year, but that's life. We picked a privileged Melbourne kid, they picked a kid from SOR Perth. It comes with risks.

Port arent doing that trade unless it's North F2 and even then I'd think they want more
