We won't hear anything happening officially until mid day tomorrow, the AFL has put the embargo on so their prime time finish can have some stories.

Dunkley, Lobb, Meek, Mitchell, JOM, Whitfield, Haynes, Sharp, Henry, Schache, Fiorini, Sava, Clark, Hill, Francis, Weiderman, Dow, Hunter

Plenty of nothing to happen with those but potential.

When a player moves as a free agent, their salary terms etc are locked into that teams salary cap as they are on the paper when the deal goes through. They can't get salary cap relief with the player retiring.
Ah interesting. Doesn't solve pre-agency and having to over-extend to keep them. Collingwood didn't want to do that deal for Grundy. He blackmailed them into it.
I don't like it. Is is just me. Others see it differently.

It was our mistake. Also why I don't like free agency allowing players to hold clubs to ransom over very long term and over the top contracts. Blakely showed how quickly a players form can drop off. Grundy is the most obvious example and Trav Cloke also.
I don't think Grundy and Cloke were free agents -- just dumb long term contracts.

Pies supporters will eventually be asking if that contract signing for Grundy in 2020 had a significant part in losing all those players being paid by Collingwood to play elsewhere - now including Grundy.

Clubs offering bad contracts for them is a them problem and they are still paying for that.

According to Cal Twomey there is a real chance Josh Dunkley will go to the PSD and the Bulldogs board have approved sending him to the PSD. If Dunkley doesn't get done we will surely hold Lobb - we are not incentivised to fold for a contracted player

So, it appears that once again Colon Young has failed to conjure a trade for his high profile client. I wouldn’t be impressed if I were Lobster.

Need to wait and see. If the reason the Dogs are the only team Young/Lobb are dealing with is because they are absolutely willing to deal a first round pick for Lobb and Freo would like that exchange to happen after Jackson is traded then it's exactly the story to carry all the way to the end of the trade period for drama.

Can we grab Dunkley via the PSD or could we convince him that we will do it anyway so better to just straight swap him with the Dogs for Lobb and remove the long wait?

What a farking joke the suns are. The AFL should never give them any extra assistance again. Imagine winning the flag AND getting a quality young player on top of pick 7 for the massive price of a future 3rd rounder! Cats will extend Bowes almost immediately you'd think to stretch that contract a bit. AFL are a joke.
Wish we'd done it. Instead we're looking at O'Meara.

You would think if North pass Essendon would take him in the PSD considering they have cap space and he requested a trade there last year

Essendon getting Wright and Weidemann makes it better then our forward line if Lobb leaves. That's upsetting
There’s no future in that combination.

We’ll have Amiss, Treacy, Jackson and Taberner anyway which seems a fair way better even as soon as next year.

I think Brisbane, if the Dogs have put the PSD in play, should reduce their trade offer to just their F1 and sign the paper - then leave it with the Dogs to either submit if they wish or not.

Was thinking similar. Dogs unfortunately have no hand here. Obviously you’d hope clubs deal in good faith, but if they’re adamant then if Brisbane you put 21 and F1 on the table one last time or let him go PSD.

Personally, I’m surprised WCE haven’t tried to pry Devon out of Brisbane and offered their pick 12 and get some currency back.
