In no world is 2x 3rds for a best 22, 26 year old winger in a finals side a good deal.

He will walk straight into Carlton’s 22 and park himself on the wing for the next 5 years.

I can’t understand our list management, we’ve got Hamling, Hughes sitting in the 2nds taking up salary cap space while we can’t retain our best 22 winger over 100-200k. Nuts.

Man I hope so! If Acres is a B22 winger for Carlton in 5 years it means they will have gone nowhere.

"can't": I don't think that is right. "didn't want to" I think is closer to the truth. Taking all these high drafts picks in recent years means they will be expecting them to go past established players -- that is the reality of keeping on taking multiple top 20 picks year after year.

I reckon we didn't want to find ourselves with another "Blakley" style contract on our hands where we are overpaying for a guy to play at Peel. As you say we are already doing that with Hamling (although his unfortunate injury threw a big spanner in the planning around that).

I actually think JLo was getting the absolute best out of Acres and would be surprised if he could replicate that output in another system. He is a workhorse but not an overly talented player

And we are happy enough to let Logue and Acres go over east. Because they aren't contracted. Same as in the 2018 post-season Lobb came to us uncontracted. Its not like we induced him to break a contract with GWS.
