Gags spoke really well I thought.

Seems like we have a clear direction.
He spoke well. But I’m not sure on the direction.

Pick 9 or 2 top 25 picks + whatever second rounders we have.

is unlikely to move the needle unless we strike gold. Which again, is unlikely.

We seem to be pinning our hopes on De Goey

Or if he's as good as re-signed as has been reported, Gags is not acknowledging it until it's officially announced.
People just have to look back on Gary Ablett Senior and how he was in his younger years - DeGoey might not be a Ablett but he has the promise to be a player that just changes games.
We get him next year our midfield will get a massive boost benefiting the whole team.

Thats definitely a factor but with the alleged Bing bounty and the retirements we still should have the budget. Hill staying is another fly in the ointment.
The bounty is why we can sign one of them.

Even if we save money from the retirements. If no one else leaves. Once they are replaced with kids - it won’t leave enough to bring in Bowes and De Goey.

Very crafty by the Suns.
Their prized asset is clearly Ben King. Biggest threat is the Saints taking him.

Let's lure a Saints player up (Long), and offer up a saints supporter (Bowes) with a tantalising pick to suck them into dialogue. Mention Geelong so it's not completely obvious.
That way we free up our cap, use it to pay Ben more, and max out the Saints cap so they can't offer Ben much.

Well played, well played.

True, but it was just interesting wording... "he's got a decision to make in the next few days".

He could very easily just be making it clear to jordy and his fireman that we aren't going to be strung along forever, being used as a pawn in their negotiations with the pies.

Sounds to me like gags hasn't heard from the fireman recently, so he's giving him an ultimatum: we're out unless you make a decision in the next couple of days.

I reckon gags just wants to bring it to a head one way or the other, so they can move fwd and plan for other stuff.

Gags himself said were in for a quiet trade period so Id say we'd best get used to it...

A lot pressure on our club to develop from within over the next 12 months.
I bet that fills you all with an abundance of confidence

I actually don't think it's a bad thing. Get your own house in order and players will want in. We need new ideas from the coaches box and consistent effort, players getting cohesion etc. Then chase a few added extras when we get that bit right.

He would seem like an idiot wouldn’t he? He just made us seem like we are well in this race.

We‘ve had a number of conversations with Jordan and his management over a few months now. He’s got a big decision to make and the time’s coming pretty quickly for that decision,” Gallagher told AFL Trade Radio.

“I anticipate in the next two or three days he‘ll make that call. That will shape a little bit about what we do over the next couple of weeks, but we think he’d be an outstanding fit for our footy club and our footy team. He’s an exceptional player, he’s a big-game player and he’s got plenty of footy in front of him.

Craig Cameron also said that he thought the Ben Long trade would be done early and that discussion have already taken place.
Not pick 5 and I melt

Clark still might leave.

But you would be ****ing furious if he left for a second round pick after these comments.

“I actually spoke to him (Clark) earlier this morning. Hunter is under contract with us, he‘s incredibly talented, he’s a good lad, we love having him around the club,” Gallagher said.

“We‘d be really reluctant to trade him because, mainly through injury, we haven’t seen the best of him yet. He’s an emerging player and his best years are ahead of him. So I expect that he’d be with us next year and hopefully for a long, long time beyond that.”

I see no problem with us having a quiet trade period.

List management is not the area that needs a massive overhaul.

We need to get our current best 22 playing career best football- That's what is going to move the needle.

Very few of them have done that the last 2 years for any length of time.

Why would we trade him unless there was a deal strongly in our favour? He is contracted.

Is it possible deal such a deal is out there?

He was a Saints a supporter as a kid....
Time to put Lenny to use.

However while Bowes has grown up a St Kilda supporter, it wasn't Dal Santo that was his idol. Rather it was Dal Santo's long-time midfield ally Lenny Hayes. Bowes spent time with Hayes on the AFL academy trip to New Zealand early last year. "I was just starstruck," Bowes said. "I should have asked him more questions when I think about it now!"

If a 2nd round pick was offered you would just hold him to the contract and back the club to convince him in the next 12 months to stay OR give him a year hopefully free of injury to prove he’s worth what we took him for. There’s just no way I see us trading him for a 2nd round pick this year.

You don’t need a massive trade period to make us better.

You just need smart deals. If we miss on De Goey.

Bowes and 7 is a smart deal

For what’s it’s worth.

Twomey thinks it’s still a chance Clark gets to North.
There’s a chance Gisele leaves Brady for me.

So why did Gags let it be known that Clark was gettable a few weeks ago ? Because it wasn’t Clark that made the 1st move

Geez that's a bit rough on old Masedog Wood, I thought he'd earnt a 2 year deal off his second half of the year, he was one of the few who actually looked better as the year went on. I noticed because he was my whipping boy in the first half of the year.

Keep him hungry
