10 points for integrating "discommode" into your post - very impressive!!!
Oh and Doc my mother was British a straight honours student all the way through College. Quite apart from never giving me a moments respite from studies she drummed it into me that 'dumbing down' your communication with anyone is both pretentious and insulting.

So take your pick of how you want to colour that . . .

The problem with the use of Victoria Park ISN'T our club.

It's the gentrification of the inner suburbs - Collingwood included - which has led to councils utterly dominated by the desperately seeking to be relevant, wanna be gentry types who made it impossible for the club to continue to lease the stadium. You see the old memories of Collingwood as it used to be back when the club dominated the area are so offensive to the desperately seeking gentrificationists that they will do anything to discommode said club.

In other words a gang of would be social climbers hijacked the Collingwood city council and our club was in the way of their social ambitions.
I don’t care what they need to do, who they need to pay, what permissions they need to obtain….just develop a AIA so that it’s easy to watch footy there
  • grandstand of some description
  • covered viewing areas
  • plenty of food (etc) services that can handle high volume

Anyone who uses the word 'discommode' and actually knows its meaning would surely have to be part of a gentrified group!

George Orwell was of the opposite view - 'Never use a long word where a short one will do'.

You don't get it Schu these socially upward aspiring desperate types don't respond to anything except their own desperate social ambitions.

I bought a very run down Victorian era workers cottage in an inner suburban area and renovated it as was the thing to do at that time.

Around 5 years after the renos were completed the area appreciated violently in the market and my $35,000 workers cottage was suddenly worth in excess of $150K.

This applied to literally hundreds of properties as the yuppies moved in in their hundreds.

No surprise that within a couple of years they dominated the council.

I always made it a point to attend every open council session possible and the business before council was unrelentingly whatever measures could possibly cause property values to appreciate - no matter what the cost to poorer residents unable to buy their way onto the council.

Hundreds of years ago this type would have been called snobs.

None of that has anything to do with Collingwood not playing at Victoria Park. This is literally the definition cloudshouting.
Newsflash: 99% of property owners want their assets to appreciate in value. Wanting to increase your net worth has nothing to do with being a snob.

I understand your frustration but we’re discussing different issues

If we have to play at AIA, I can’t control that, but the club should provide its members with conditions that keep us from sunburn / drenching and make it possible to easily see the whole ground

It’s beyond @&$@ing annoying

Poulter, Macrae and Harrison (because he has the body) are on notice to perform as there are senior spots up for grabs. It would do Isaac Chugg well to have a big game because he is leading the delistment charge. Cox is leading the retirement category as I think that he'd be allowed to retire if no other clubs had interest.

I'm really hoping Henry can find some nice touch today. I think some time in the twos is exactly what he needs, but I'm hoping it will be a very short stint.

Also would be great to see a 4 quarter performance from Macrae. And a nice defensive performance from McMahon and Kelly.

Just playing the devils advocate here - legalistically - as you haven't been in any way coerced or enticed to attend the club has no responsibility.

I understand your attitude and sympathize with it but from a legal standpoint I doubt the club has any obligation.

Murley in everything
Ruscoe doing really well (save for 1 mess up on hbf)
Ollie needs to play in front more
Pressure good

We’re dominating first 10 mins but not capitalising
1-2 8 us
0-2 2 them
