Probably because HQ knew he would lose - no point booking an expensive venue for a concession speech/function. So pessimistic were the SA Liberals of their chances in the 2022 election that Premier Steven Marshall made his concession speech in the beer garden of a pub:

And rightfully so. Why spend cash renting out the Adelaide convention centre when you know your gonna lose the election?

Might as well drown your sorrows and losses in a pub and get drunk or smashed lol

So dan Andrews should be in jail for his actions in the lockdown in 2020 and 2021?

Dan Andrews is your current Premier of Victoria. He isn't a war criminal like Slobodan Milosevic LoL.

Glad Ross Lyon is coaching again. LoL

I always knew he would find a job LoL

Jail? The cookers don't drag around their gallows for nothing

There are degrees of criminal offending to be fair.

A lady went inside the other day for forging a Will. She didn’t rape or murder anyone.

The cookers want him charged with 800 counts of murder and for treason

That said they probably want you charged with treason for once owning an Australian flag that isn't the red ensign

People have different views.

For me one of the sadder things is the police force will continue to be politicised, Patten will remain Commissioner, and we’ll have another 4 years of Labor’s judicial appointments.

And younger (particularly men) have no idea until they’re caught up in it.

It will be interesting to see where these guys go next. You'd think the election has put a line under the anti lockdown side of the movement leaving only anti Andrews activism left which with the covid measures being lifted will have to be justified somehow lest they be dismissed as cranks.

Imo it will follow the trumpians in the USA - just keep thinking everything is a conspiracy to take their FREEDOM!!!

The Sky/ Murdoch crew are definitely causing Libs massive headaches. They have to accept they cannot win by attaching themselves to these far right idiots. They need to become more centrist and call out the lunacy of the cooked. It’s amazing they can’t see it still.
It seems to me that the really noticeable shift to the right in the Liberal Party started in 2018, when many MPs got the idea in their heads that only way to beat Bill Shorten was to replace the moderate Turnbull with the hard-right Dutton.

Nikki Savva quoted some anonymous source saying that if Dutton was the answer, it was a very strange question. That push failed, and Morrison pulled off victory in 2019. Fast forward three years and one pandemic later, and the party has fully embraced American culture wars and anti-science, and completely lost the centre ground. How many more election thumpings until they realise going further right is not the answer?

It is glorious to see the Howard years backfire against the libs down the line.

Maybe they should have funded this nation over giving tax cuts and pissing away the mining boom.

The libs have a young people problem and it is not going away anytime soon
The Liberals aren't doomed, but WA 2021, SA, Federal and Vic 2022 are signs that the electorate is slowly waking up to the fact that the Coalition is a dud preposition. They offer nothing except culture wars and more of the same decay that has beset the country since the Howard era.

Hopefully at least another 15-20.

Mate you want to emigrate to the UK? Now?
Stokes/Chappy has been in the UK for years. Not sure what his post is all about. He hardly emigrating now.

Anyway, 6 years in the UK myself now and the place is in the worst shape it's been in the whole time by ****ing miles. Five years ago the place was powering, but since BoJo's ascension to PM, the place has just spiralled.* Cost of living is out of control (yeah it's increasing in Oz, but still holding up well compared to the UK), there are strikes everywhere making it bloody hard to get around, nurses are striking (rightly so) and service jobs are chronically underpaid.

The queue of Aussies heading home is moving far quicker than those coming here. There is a reason the vast majority of Australians who stay here beyond their two-year youth visa work in IT or finance. The overwhelming majority do their two years, enjoy the UK summer, and the European culture and get out of here.

On the other hand, Brits are desperate to get to Australia. Almost everyone I meet borks when I tell them how long I've been in the UK. You know how many straight-up say "Yeah, I can see why you'd wanna come out here and stay such a long time"... Literally, zero.

* Obviously COVID bit hard, but you really saw the downsides of having a dumbass like him in charge through a period of crisis. Australia did really well to move the majority of responsibilities to the states.

There is nothing positive about Dan Andrews for the people of Victoria... absolutely nothing! Victoria will pay a huge price for this contradictory, condescending, patronising Premier...Victorians are weak, they've been bent over and they like it!
Yeah well Victorians disagree in their millions, Oracle of Delphi.

I'm sure the families of all those people who died are thrilled at his return. He has everyone bluffed over here, the swings against Labor were in traditional Labor seats and there was simply too much fat to make a difference, but the swing was there. We will have four more years of gesticulating and condescending from Andrews. Victorians will spend the next four years scratching their heads as we work out who will ultimately pay off the enormous debt. Andrews believes it rains money in Victoria and lands on his front porch. He knows no one will ask any questions and even if they do, he won't answer them. I give Ross Lyon a better chance of success in the next four years than most Victorians.

The stats are interesting in that 2018 had a 57/43 split in 2PP but this election it was much reduced to 54/46 - but as others have pointed out, the large chunks of the ALP vote was taken out in areas where the ALP was already assured of winning like in the west of Melbourne.

Still a convincing victory but I think there is no doubt there is a percentage of the population that went ALP in 2018 but went coalition in 2022 and only a fool would think none of that was due to perceptions of his handling of COVID - were the western suburbs hit harder by COVID restrictions?

melbs west and (to a lesser extent) south east are comparable to Sydney’s south west “LGAs of concern” in economic composition. Lots of essential workers/casuals and people who couldn’t work from home.

the vic govt response to Covid was less discriminatory and frankly less callous than NSWs.

was still surprised the swing wasn’t on in the SE given the demographics and there seem to be a large proportion of aggrieved and confederate flag Waving types.

Perhaps some people wouldn't feel condescended to if they weren't so far below normal intelligence?

It's very hard to talk to someone on their level when that level is so low as to be almost impossible to stoop to.

It's just a theory of mine.
