Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

If Treacy keeps playing like he did yesterday, I’m retracting the north pick and going straight swap Treacy for JVR, and only doing the trade if Treacy wants to go back to Vic for personal reasons.
If we play Treacy I don’t think it will be a problem. But the coach has to show belief in him and let him know.
I wouldn’t think too many rookie players leave a club that gives them the chance in the first place.
Letting this guy go without a decent contract in front of him?

Treacy and Schultz our two priority signings…

If they sign Fyfe first it will annoy me.

Eye on the future prioritize the young guys.

Aye?
Jackson was always coming … bell paying more than he had to was the mistake
Two firsts is all it should have been, which will end up something like 13 (15) and 8 (9). A top 8 pick and second round pick is the usual offer for his sort of player (think Jesse Hogan; 6, 27 > Hogan, 55). Cerra went for 6 (8) & F3.

The future 2nd for 42, 57 was unnecessary.

The problem was West Coast had pick 2 in the PSD so we had to negotiate. But blind Freddy could see he was heading out way so the middle ground given our 2022 1st was quite late. We should have given an ultimatum on take it or leave it for the two firsts.

Schultz will hit games played trigger for an extension for 2024 (worth sorting out another year or two but he is fine). Fyfe will be one for the end of the year. All parties will want to see him have some consistent form in the AFL. At the moment he is playing 25-35mins and only his 3rd game.

Treacy will get sorted I’m sure. He is one I can see getting done mid-season with continued performances like Sat.

Did Treacy just stamp tabs ticket?

For me

Only trade value we have next year - I’m seeing maybe tabs and Henry (no Darcy, sorry Suma)

Value for each?

Side note, I’d keep Wilson, Hamling for back up with key defenders developing

I think so, yeah. However, Tabs has almost zero trade value; over 30, injury prone KPF who has EDIT: never kicked more than 40 in a season. More valuable to us as depth and to put pressure on for spots (big part of back line woes this year has been the removal of Logue in this capacity).

Henry I still think could make it, just needs a lot of time, possibly more than we're prepared to give him. Again though, minimal trade value on what he's shown.

I don't see us being big players in the trade market this year, unless someone really wants to go/come to us.

Agree on tabs being depth, with no trade value

Henry I would have thought to be a late 2nd

I do hope he comes on, but I struggle to see his best spot

Henry I'm sure he actually working very hard but I just wonder if he has the attributes to make in the AFL, physically he is very slight but not even that quick? Needs great decision making and skills but they have actually been very poor.

Henry would be more likely to make it as an AFL player if he stays and keeps working. What is more likely is Colin will talk some Melbourne club into offering him a good money two year deal 2 on talent (no doubt as part of some wider quid pro quo), where he will fail and then be delisted.

I agree. Time will make him bigger but it won't make him quicker. Yesterday will give him confidence so we'll see where he goes from here but I doubt he becomes a regular AFL player with us or anyone else. Ok depth if we get desperate though.

Lacks pace, Size, skills.

The question I have is what position can he make it in the AFL?

* that article is terribly written. Syntax is shocking, and the bit where he's explaining how it will pan out; "Freo will deny this and make him swear allegiance... yada yada" reads like something I'd expect from a Primary School kid. Does no-one proofread or edit at the West? Regardless of the merit of the story, that is a ******* joke for a paper servicing a city of over 1m people.

Can't believe they sacked Duffield for this completely incompetent buffoon.

We are in a tough situation here. We need to re-sign Treacy soon to keep his signature but what if Naughton says he is open to moving back home end of 2024?
Would rather keep Treacy and continue the uilding of chemistry between him and Amiss, already got a year and a half together. I feel like letting him go to trade in Naughton has too much risk, we already gambled on Jackson. So I would say no to gambling multiple high draft picks again for Naughton when Treacy provides enough for Amiss and Jackson to be effective already and should get better.[/USER]

I think it's worth separating that horrific troll bait of an article from Suma from the actual list management discussion. Given Jacksons performance around the ball, does anyone think we would be worse off in the medium to long term if we turned Darcy into Naughton? I think from a list perspective we'd be better off but Darcy seems an even more "heart and soul" guy than Logue and Acres and I think we've seen this year that you shoudlnt underate the impact of losing well loved players all the time. Losing Darcy would really hurt
Darcy is showing some unexpected leadership and really importantly, physical leadership. You don't trade that out. If he wants to leave, that's different. Especially if Knobel is developed.

Taberner has kicked like 37 in 2021? (Like 15-18 games too)

And 29 in the shortened year with shortened games so easily the equivalent of 30

He was a good forward for the period between injuries pre-2020 and injuries in 2022

People have short memories

Fyfe still offers something but not on the same money.

We need to free up cash.

I'd offer him 500k max

I don't see any point in trading Henry, we're better off persisting with him. He's taking ages to get to the level, but still shows good traits and has continuously improved his whole career. More urgency and awareness right now and he'd be an AFL level player.
I still believe he can make it.
