Given we had to sign Pitto for 4yrs as there was so much interest from other clubs 🤨
Any chance we can trade him off to one of the many suitors for him (who were so keen for him) & take Grundy on the cheap?
Grundy/TDK would work for me if we are insistent on playing 2 rucks

Pittonet is absolutely useless at everything...

... Except for making our midfield MUCH stronger when he's part of it...

Waiting for the internet to break.........."well done to our fitness and development team" was a combination of words that I thought the the internet has an algorithm that would automatically shut everything down.

The algo interpreted the sentence as 'our fitness and development team is well done'. Like a ruined steak.

Pretty sure.

I'd suggest that for every Hill there's 4 or 5 SPS's. I'm not against picking up Elijah, but it's certainly a punt. Junior talent is one thing, transferring that to the big stage another. All we've really got to go on is current output, and that's been well below par. I'd still be hopeful that he can turn it around, but I'm not paying the farm for him. Future 2nd is about the limit of what I'd consider paying. And given we're probably happy to offload it anyway, given it'd be swallowed up by bids next year, then fine, go for it.
Couldn’t agree more with this.
Also I like Bobby Hill and remember being gutted when we made the live trade and took Stocker over him but he is still only a role player. He is getting maybe an extra touch every week and an extra goal every second or third week, which considering his age that sort of improvement is nearly expected.
Hollands atm is an average VFL player, if you are giving up more then a future second then you would be wanting alot more improvement then what we have seen from someone like Bobby Hill because That level of improvement will still have him playing VFL. I’m sure there is an example of players looking average in VFL and coming good but I’m also sure it’s rare.
I wouldn’t be upset if he was on our list because he has some great traits but atm he looks as much a Sumner, Pickett, Schache ect then the more successful stories.

You just ruined a perfectly good joke. :(

Leg speed and footskills. Our half forward line while valiant the 2nd half of the year is still ordinary and lacking and points of difference.

If you could add an extra 5% leg speed to Owies, Motlop, Fog and Cunners they'd probably be guns but they all look a bit slow for me. Just can't get good separation from their opponents.

I'd go hard at Liam Ryan or if Watson slides in the draft a bit trade up for him.

Agree this is one of the missing links in our structure better quality small & medium forwards.

I think we need some hard thinking over the coming months about what the make up of this side looks like. Are we simply a contested / defensive team or can we hurt them the other way. Can we win without monstering contested footy? We had many games when the balance was wrong. It looks like Dow and Fisher will both move on, but our ball movement looked better when they played.

2 genuine small forward/high half fwd options who can deliver inside 50, get separation on the lead and kick goals regularly.
Nail, head, hit. **** I don't know what the saying is I'm already 3 sheets to the wind...

But yes, quality in the forward half that can bring speed and brutality.

I also think the old Cripps, Hewett, Kennedy on the same team sheet is a big worry. Have said it before and will say it again. We cannot go in as slow as we did. I saw no reason for Kennedy to be Sub.

Although I agree, I think the midfield speed discussion is a bit pointless atm as I don't see any way we can address that this off season while also dealing with the other issues which are probably more pressing needs.

We're close. Probably 3-4 players off a genuine flag fancy imo.

Hewett was average. Can't play those three in the same side. Kennedy as a sub was the wrong decision if we're going to use him in the middle. Don't understand why we stopped playing Dow and now we're resigned to losing him for nothing

We really need Durdin to come on.
Cuningham? Is he a player? He has so much of what we need.
If Curnow is the player we think he is then a finals series like we seen won’t happen again.
We sort of looked abit out gunned tonight but TBH Brisbane have everyone covered atm for that. We are close, we don’t need big changes but forwards with speed will get our attention

It’s a funny thing isn’t it.. that same midfield of Cripps, Hewett, and Kennedy are a big reason we often control the centre square and get the forward territory advantage. We didn’t lose from being one paced. We lost because in the second quarter and the early portion of the third, we lost all desire to try and link up and take the game on. Combine that with poor execution and skill errors going forward. That is the biggest thing we need to work on this upcoming preseason. Really need to work on our forward craft. Work on lowering the eyes and hitting up the leading forwards. Work on leading patterns. Owies is really the one guy who leads up and gives the ball carrier the short option.

Speaking of leading forwards, Charlie needs to learn to start in front of his defender and lead up rather than always starting behind. We bomb long and he’s out of position which not only wastes a forward 50 entry but also allows them the quick rebound.
