I'm more confident there is value there for key forwards rather than key defender. The key defender pool gets very shallow very quick this year.

Logan Morris

Luker Kentfield

WAFL Showreel, R19: Luker Kentfield highlights

Morris will be an excellent AFL footballer and a real bargain if in the mid 20's or 30's.

He just has a few qualities that get you a long way in the game.

He's an elite contested mark and has excellent forward craft, he knows how to position himself, he knows how to use his body. His movement and agility is underrated also. Larkey was the same when we drafted him, he's a natural forward, it circumvents athleticism and size alot of the time.

Jack Gunston went at Pick 29 because of some similar criticism, I feel like Morris is a similar type. Morris is 1cm shorter than Gunston.

You might argue, his type of KPF is perfectly suited as the second key forward in the modern game that the best sides seem to operate around 1 200cm forward only.

I think he'd do really well next to Larkey and with George, Sheezel, Curtis etc.

I'd have no hesitation taking him with Pick 19, once it's pushed out to Pick 25 or 26.

Maybe I should've worded it better.

Pick 3 should actually be Pick 18/19/20 because that's all BMac is probably worth on the open trade market.

The fact we've been so s**t and ended up second last and the fact the sheer dearth of KPD's this year Bmac has become extremely hot property is the ONLY reason we'll (hopefully) lob pick 3.

Any other year we get buggar all for him and we end up with picks 2, 18ish (Bmac trade), 19 + + so having pick 3 is a luxury and it allows us to be creative with our first two picks to hopefully secure a freak like Harley (pick 2 will be involved) and another gun at pick 3..

That's all I'm sayin..
Yes, I can see what you're saying now.

Doesn't look like a lot between Logan Morris and Kentfield. Both imposing types. I think i'd rather go with Kentfield as a late pick than 20 something for Logan Morris. Both represent far better value than Caddy in my opinion.

Yeah Morris looks good huh. Kentfield also got some hardness at the ball

I'll do an exercise for you:

18.5 touches and 2.0 goals per game

19.3 touches and 2.8 goals per game

16.3 disposals and 2.7 goals per game

11.7 disposals and 3.0 goals per game

The group of players who the above stats belong to (in no order) are: Nate Caddy, Logan Morris, Harley Reid, Xavier Duursma.

Who's who?

As you can see, there's some value around the top 10 and the rest of the draft.

I'm not going to lie Logan is one my favourites in this draft pool, mainly because of his contested marking. It also has something to do with local bias though as I played a few games for Jets over 15 years ago. Probably one of the reasons why I still rate Jovan Petric too.

I think Morris athletic deficiencies have been a little over stated. If he improves his tank he'll fare just fine at AFL level.

Kentfield hardly had a kick at the championships, so that was a bit concerning for me. In saying that he was playing in a pretty terrible side. The fact that he has held his own in WAFL seniors as a 17 year old suggests there is a bit of upside there. I'm tipping he probably gets taken very very late in the ND or as a rookie.

Logan Morris has proven himself far more consistently compared to Kentfield. Logan has kicked 60 goals across two season in the NAB league, bloody good return playing in one of the middle tier sides. It's a shame he isn't a few cm taller.

Interested to learn the point you are making but my guesses are above

My point is that even though I don't massively rate Caddy - The other 3 had arguably better stat lines than Harley Reid did (who played 80% of the year forward for Bendigo).

Morris is extremely good value considering there's a chance the other three go in the top 6 and one is being described as a generational footballer.

I'd be pretty happy with either tbh

Do you think there's much to work with with Kentfield? Looks like an imposing type and he has a lovely kicking action which reflects his kicking accuracy.

No *ing way do we do that deal. Stupid overs for a 1 pick Upgrade and 2 pick downgrade. Insanely stupid of north to do that deal. WC can have 2 and 5 and we keep 3 at worse.

Also, who suggested that deal? I’m so over the media wanting North to cop it in the neck for everybody else. Fk off!!!
That was the list management genius of none other than Cooney I believe....throwing his hat in the ring to replace Dodoro.....good on him....fkknuckle.

Kidding yourself mentioning Morris in the same breath as those guys. They have natural football talent and are elite.

I dont get that argument. Not just from you, but the wider argument in the media as well.

Answer me this, when hasn't their been a dearth of strong marking 200cm developed 25 year old KPD's?

Who could you of bought last year for pick 19?
