Rival clubs have told foxfooty.com.au the Bulldogs are in the box seat to acquire Gold Coast’s first selection (currently Pick 4) by giving away Picks 10 and 17 and, if needed, their future first-round pick. Should the Dogs land that selection, it’s expected they’ll take a smaller, hybrid player such as Eastern Ranges small forward Nick Watson or star Tasmanian midfielder Colby McKercher.
McKercher will be gone by then you'd expect. Watson must be their man.

How is it reported and repeated over and over again thats they've offered 10, 17 and F1st.
Never did make sense, BUT and if needed their future 1st which can bet your lefty on they'll wont something significant back for.
A future 1st with nothing back isnt just a sweetener to get it over the line.

Our pick 14, 19 and allowing Walter to slip a bit is worth more than 10 and 17. And if they dont help us and WC out get a deal done im sure they can expect a nom at pick 1.

This would have been a whole lot easier if we just lost our last game!
I might be a kook, but I much prefer this scenario to that one. Going into a new season having lost 21 on the trot is shit. And deliberately finishing behind the clear worst team for the year wouldn't have been good cosmically. That shit comes back to bite in ways you can't even imagine. Runs of bad luck aren't snapped by playing the game in bad faith.

Now off I crawl back into my incense-filled Olinda treehouse

100%

And I was campaigning hard for that outcome. Nobody come at me. I’ve already said a thousand times, if these guys couldn’t win for Clarko, Rats x 2, Ziebell or Cunnington - I’m glad they found it within themselves to win the final round of the year…so they could say they weren’t the worst team for the year. Good on them.

BUT (to my main point)

I don’t believe we would have either been heavily gifted with compo and (let’s see if it plays out) McKay’s compo.

So it will be interesting to see how they orchestrate the concessions.

BW: A few more that we’re asking all prospects, Harley. If you were West Coast and had Pick 1, who would you take?

HR: Ooh … I reckon it depends. A few older ones have retired, so it depends what position they’re looking for. They’ve got a good forward, they’ve got a good small forward … You couldn’t go wrong with Dan Curtin. He’s really versatile – and obviously he’s from WA, so he wouldn’t have to move too far.

BW: You would’ve played against Dan in the champs and with him for the Academy side. What are some of his strengths?

HR: He nails his kicking. He’s a top bloke, too, and he’s a team player, which is what we all love and every club would love to have. He’s got great skills and he’ll always be there too on that last line of defence.

Harley should be Curtins manager
