Things need to change, I think he need to make some some hard calls at selection and with the on-field positions, Try something out of the box. Perhaps play H at true CHF, with instructions not to go inside the 50 (unless he's running into goal). Play Charlie one out in the square, tell the smalls to stop leading as much and concentrate on crumbing off Charlie.
Our fwd line is sooo congested its bloody ridiculous.
Get Doc out of the centre and play Saad in there, bring back Kemp perhaps Boyd, give Wieters a spell to regain his confidence.
Play Hewitt as a HFF.
Cripps and Kennedy as inside mids, Saad and Walsh as the extractors, adds pace and versatility to our mid-field.

Just a thought.

Turning him into a ruckman at round 10 and asking him to follow around Mason bloody Cox because he hasn’t been kicking well, ridiculous. He has been creating scoring opportunities and marking everything. He is otherwise playing the CHF role perfectly.

We need to get him out of this rut not create more problems for him.
I suggested exactly a solution to getting H out of his rut, making Cox accountable, negating the height atvantage he lauds over all others, fatiguing him by making him play on a superior athlete, negating the marks/goals he got in their F50 on sunday and making him mark H in OUR F50.

I'm not talking about making H full time permanent ruck for the rest of his career. I'm talking only of this upcoming game against this pretender of a footballer. Maybe adding a string to our bow.

Would I play H as first ruck against a legitimate, propoer first ruck? No. O'brien et al would murder him. But Cox is a bully and one trick pony, he has one advantage - being sky tall. So is H, but H has the athletic and footballer advantage over the Texan pretender.

You call Cox a pretender and yet want to send one of our best players to nullify him...

Agree with the spirit of your post, if not all the details. Not sure I'd play Saad at CB's...but then again...

I fully agree we need to find out if we have weapons we are not aware of, I would run Cinc in the guts for a burst and see what he can do, for example.

Correct, sort of.

Did you watch Cox play on sunday? I don't want to nullify him, I want to turn him into a disavantage.

He is their only option in the ruck and he is not a very good ruckman, and just emerging after 100 games as a reasonable footballer. He is a pretender as a footballer becasue he has a huge advantage becasue of his his height, H matches that, and trumps him as a footballer.

Nah, the kick to Jsos was the correct option. As much as we focus on C and H, we need to be sure the comp knows there are other avenues to goal. Untill leads by others are respected, they will double team C and H. If we start hitting up other targets like Jsos, and Kennedy and others, we will make the big dogs better and more effective.
We talk about the momentum being sucked from the team after Harry/Cripps and others miss what we believe to be an easy one yet Jack is as bad if not worse. I don’t blame players bypassing him…Jacks Limitations get off Scott free for some reason.

after our third qtr in the brisbane game i just hung my head . Knowing what we had in front us in terms of opposition it was such a bad bad sign. The turnovers in that game , particularly in the third qtr were just so awful it was mind blowing. The lack of structure, skills and instinct all over the place were unwatchable. And yet i watched.... bit of spurt when it didn't matter. A dying gasp if you will. And that's our Carlton at the moment. When it counts, when the pressure is on, when the game is up for grabs we completely drop our bundle. And it's so utterly predictable from game to game. We get rattled at every juncture and it seems to me its gone right thru the group. Mentally fried.

This game coming up? Chances of winning? next to zero. Pies can smell an absolute easy kill here. I can see McCrae and co analysing us, pointing out weaknesses all over the place and exploiting accordingly.
Our only hope is that they take us too lightly . But they won't. I can see the first qtr score now.... look away folks!

An honourable lost here just aint gonna cut it. This is a must must must must win game.
God knows how... but it is. for so many reasons.

And if i see cripps smiling after another loss i think im gonna spew up. Freakn disgrace. If i was Voss id rip him apart.
All these Carlton folks that drag their asses to the game, spending their hard earned with footy for some being the only out and release?
Cmon...Less laughing crippa, less sooking and more leadership my man.
Maybe go watch some Luke hodge highlights and take some notes.
He's so damn capable , which is why it's so frustrating.
Goes for the rest of the team....

LIFT BAGGERS. !!!

We'll be going into this one as underdogs, which is always the best position to be in when going into a game against the filth imo.

They're on top of the ladder, while our performances so far this year have been pretty substandard and mediocre.

I'm still hoping we'll get that win that'll hopefully transform our season though. Just get out there and effing beat them Baggers!

Surely this comes down to the forward coaches to sort
If the players aren’t listening, change them around
Send em to the Magoos
I agree on H…
He’s not looking dangerous around goals so move him to CHF
Charlie is so let’s maximise that but still use other options when available

They have Cameron coming back this week who will ruck

If Cameron comes in & Cox goes forward than how about TDK comes in to play on Cox for a challenge & has the height / athletic traits & throw Mcgovern forward. we could do any worse at the moment & need another avenue. Weitering is terribly out of form .... be great to see him outmarking blokes again.

I agree he needs to get out of the rut, got any better ideas, genius?

I don't for one moment think they will play H in the ruck, and that is part of the problem. They (like you) lack imagination and 'outside the box' thinking. The coaching/selection staff lack the dare to do something different. I remember when Yabby Jeans turned a mediocre HBF called Dipper into a brownlow medal winning winger. A winger with the 'wrong' body type and attributes for the time. They did this first in a cutthroat final on the biggest stage. At least the then Hawthorn brains trust had the dare and confidence to do something radical.

I'm suggesting something different for this game only. It may work, it may not. Lets at least try to win.

If we keep doing the same thing we have for 9 weeks we will get slaughtered.

Perhaps you might want to look up Eeinstein's definition of insanity.

Harry is not mediocre in his position. He is a Coleman Medallist.

Playing him in the ruck will not fix his yips. It delays working on it, it gives him a higher risk of knee injuries, it gives us one less avenue to goal when we only have two, it wastes the two actual ruckman we do have.

Crazy.

In: Kemp, Martin, Boyd, Fisher
Out: Curnow, Hewett, Durdin, motlop

Durds is lost and can't defend. Motlop is playing weak outside of that one tackle he doesn't press.back in defense or stop opposing hbs. Even Fisher defends better at least he appears at the contests. I'd bring fish in anyway as that floating hf. Just better at it than motlop.

Gov forward. JSos sub. Kemp backline. Boyd for more overlap and so we don't play Cerra off the ****ing half back line.

Watching Hewett in ruck contests is embarrassing at the moment. Ball watching, flat footed, no anticipation no run and losing his opponent. Him and Cripps... I doubt they drop Cripps though.

I'd be happy to drop young too. Just an unneeded low intensity dude. But not sure what they'd do to balance that.

Hope we get good Newman not bad Newman this week :/. Elliot is gonna pop off otherwise.

I hate to say it but this one has the makings of a huge disappointment, even with the expected result.

Not sure I have the mental fortitude to hold up again especually against this mob. Would be a bloody miracle to pull this off.

Good luck to the boys though and to those venturing to the game.
First game I won't watch completely live for about 10 years.. I've booked to get the car tyres changed... looking forward to (not) my Pies mates texting me throughout the game keeping me "updated".

Pittonet -> TDK Maybe like Brisbane have done with JD, we can do the same thing with Harry.
JSOS -> Kemp Kemp moves into the backline and plays the McGoverns role and McGovern plays the JSOS role.

Motlop/Durdin -> Fisher or someone else, maybe even Boyd. Their main role is to apply pressure in our forward line and hopefully jag a goal or two.

I would probably keep Durdin currently before Motlop as I think his defensive efforts on a whole are stronger. (Not as dangerous around the goals)

Agree with those proposing changes that include Kemp, Boyd and some ruck time for Harry. But please, we must tag Daicos with Cottere who can make him accountable the other way, as well as have the running power to quell his influence offensively. We need overlap running from behind, run and gun all day and Charlie will then make them pay.

Pendles and sidebottom as well thanks and let’s not forget Elliot 🤦‍♂️
