You have a huge talent for completely missing the point, don't you?. No-one said H was mediocre. I was making the point that sometimes radical thinking pays off handsomely, and using the Dippa move as an example.

I think it could fix the yips faster by giving him something else to do/think about, another task and hopefully a big boost in confidence. I keep seeing him leading Cox in a race to goal square and marking virtually unattended because big Maso was 30 meters behind....

As to injuries....well if that is your attitude, we had best just wrap him in cotton wool and sit him in the stands, because ya know, he might get hurt playing footy......sheesh

anyway, it will never happen, they don't have the cahoona's

I sse you used the word 'crazy', so perhaps you did look up the definition of insanity? Perhaps I'm doing it now trying to discuss a radical idea with someone with a closed mind and lack of imagination.

What’s next, Weitering to CHF, Cripps to the forward pocket?

You trust your best players to get through rough patches of form. And FWIW Harry is not in poor form, he is kicking poorly. I can’t think of a tall forward that hasn’t gone through it.

You guys ever tried delivering a proper message through a hostile intermediary ?

If you have you probably understand why clubs have to be so boring and uninspiring with their pressers.
I used to devour all footy media when I was young. Probably helped that we were generally good.

The older I've got, the less interested in their shit I've become. Some of that is on me, but a fair bit is on them - see Rohan Connolly's article on ESPN(?) yesterday. The sooner younger people work it out, the sooner we get rid of click-bait shit.

The only really interesting footy interviews are after players/coaches have retired, and can be completely honest.

Agreed. H is playing better than previous years and working harder in particular but his kicking issue is the main problem.

not just a talent for missing the point, a reading comprehension issue, as well as some sort of memory loss...

Have a look back at the posts where I said I was suggesting this ONE idea for this ONE game only.

Yep H is killing it as a forward, thank Eff for thos 3 goals he kicked against the Dogs, otherwise we would have lost......oh, wait on....

We won’t agree. I’ll leave it at that :)

Unfortunately click baiting and fear mongering affects people of all ages. It really just comes down to education about how the media tries to affect people emotionally and press their agendas to destabilise things even further. Honestly their articles are so formulaic and generic once you know their techniques you wonder when AI is going to steal their jobs from them. A lot of people tend to leave or are pushed out before schools bother to teach kids about it which is a shame. I will say learning about it really killed my interest in footy media too.

Had time to mourn the death of our season and process it, just looking for green shoots this week please 🥺

If there is a god out there can you let Collingwood have a off day and at least our 1st couple of aggressive plays to come off to get some confidence up for the shock upset, gee it would be nice to roll them and turn this season around

Think we need to get back to our two keys inside forward 50 playing deep. I like McKay coming up the ground, but lets get dangerous. If we want a tall up there then use Cripps, use the ruckman, Pick DeKoning and demand he gets up the wings and gives us an out.

I would be picking DeKoning this week, playing him high up the ground as a CHF and playing our two key targets out of the goal square.

Get guys back in their best positions. Docherty HB. Cerra on ball. Kennedy on ball. Go fast our of defence and if nothing is on go quick and long to Cripps or the CHF.

McKay's goal kicking accuracy, when he first arrived, his first few games he looked a great kick. Goal kicking IMO, you take small steps, you run in straight, you drop it straight and you watch the footy onto the boot and you try holding it the same as you you do when field kicking. Sometimes this doesn't work and you have to try something else but mostly it does. Sometimes a different grip or posture just changes your thoughts and this is enough to get it right, something to think about. Soreness, growth etc, changes to the body will change how someone kicks the ball.

If McKay is playing more up the field he may be more fatigued or sore so this has a negative effect on his kicking. Compare this to his Colman year, he played out of the square, kicked with fresh legs.

Either way, you practice this after you train as you are fatigued then. And you practice this a lot. And if you are going poorly, you get someone in, like Fev, who can coach this.

Has the season provided you with nourishment?
:D

I can already see how Collingwood will play this. They’ll send pendles to Cripps and get daicos or crisp to run off of him. My question is what will we do to counter it..? Coaches were well and truly trying things last week against the doggies to get crippa free but he had a dirty day in terms of impact. Think they need to go back to the well and keep finding a way to get him forward of centre or maybe we use him as a decoy to get walshy to run riot. Will be an interesting tactical battle and will probably be the main reason we win or lose.

Completely agree.
Its all about that 3 second hook.

What is the most dramatic, eye catching title for an article that could potentially come across with some sort of truth.

Clicks are money, money comes from the clicks.

Hard to realise because we put so much trust in the news, media sources ect but as far as footy news the media in general is horrible

First few rounds Cripps was the forward/mid we needed, he was playing a similar role to Dusty in his prime. We seem to scared to not have him on the ball.

You'd think a team stacked with onballers could afford the one who can play another position to go and play that other position but not to be.

I think we need to stick with Curnow and McKay deep all game. Out of the goal square, making defenders nervous.

Play DeKoning at CHF. Send Cripps forward a lot and play him CHF.

TBH there is a lot about Cripps that makes me think, in another life, or at another club he could have developed as a high up CHF. What is a CHF who play's high up? They are pretty much a midfielder who is tall and can take a mark which is what Cripps is.

Instead of using Curnow and McKay as this use Cripps. Give DeKoning a go. Hand the middle over to the others and see how good they are and be a little less predictable in there.

Fans just don't want to see their Captain smiling or laughing on the ground after a loss.
Mitchell is also in business with him so dare say they will sit back on the wing and have a good old chuckle wouldn't surprise if the shared a blue Gatorade while they at it ..

Reckon we lose big or its another Collingwood special.

For the first time all year I don't think we stand a chance here.

Just listened to (most of) the skipper fronting the media.
Same stuff as Vossy, similar guff to Lloyd, same story as Cerra.
I get the impression that its just words with little behind it.
While the fans talk up rivalries etc. Its just another day coming into work, don't get too high, don't get too low, putting in the work, doing a job.
Morining Ralph, morning Sam...
morning-good-morning.gif
Looked like he was told last night he had to front up for a presser so he did what we expected him to do...
He got onto ChatGPT and typed "Press conference for under-siege captain"...and voila...his script was ready

At the darkest point of last week’s loss, I felt the season was slipping away. Opportunity lost.

But nothing in a contest between two opponents is inevitable or insurmountable.

The Pies are flying at the moment, no doubt, but premierships aren’t won in May. We’ve matched up well against them over the past few years and we have the individual parts to do the job. Don’t mind the backs-against-the-wall scenario. The team has it within them to get it done.

Can anyone report how Jack Martin went in the VFL v kids game? Is he a chance to come back in?

Binns didn’t play, is he injured or managed?

What do you want him to say ?
“Can’t believe I decided to snap the ball on my left when I was in scope for a regulation drop punt on my right. Even more so I can’t believe that after watching two of my mates choke and kick the fat side of the ball….I choked and did the same. You’d reckon I would have been able to concentrate and make sure I didn’t do that. Pathetic of me really. Would have made the game all square and really boosted our in field spirits. Not long after they kicked 2 and we went in 3 down with our heads dropped at half time. I need to be better.”

Hope Voss tries something new with Cripps to get him or others into the game.

Collingwood is probably going to kick our teeth in like Adelaide did if we let them pick and choose who they want to play off Cripps.

If the opposition MC get to pick somebody they want to be BOG by playing off Cripps for the 5th time in a row I'll be....sad I guess?
