Was hopeful pitto out would mean a slight restructure to a team not so tall. Oh well

Pretty clear at this stage Voss has a rolling depth list and just picks the next cab off the rank.

Always like for like (even when the player is inadequate like SOS as second ruck).

One of the most frustrating things about this season.

Surely it's a good thing for him? He'll know he's not actually playing this week -- clubs only hold a couple of the emergencies back in case of a late out, not all four. But it's a small encouraging sign for him that he's close to selection.
No, he’s more than up to it, naming emergency is saying he is ready, but not good enough to make the side.
He’s been killing it, I would completely understand if they are holding him back for development (I don’t agree, but understand).
Naming him emergency is putting him on the Dow “merry-go-round”.
Watching his team mates then stink it up does not build a cohesive team.
Binns had 35 last game, if he’s ready he should be in!

It seems like you are assuming that naming him as an emergency rules out any possibility that they are holding him back for development? And that there are no other conversations happening with him that might tell him he's not on the merry-go-round?

In the end I guess it all comes down to what it is understood to mean by Binns himself. IMO it seems like quite a leap to assume that it must necessarily be interpreted as a negative in the way you describe.

I know, but don’t name him an emergency & * around with it.
If u name him then bring him in & make it something special for the kid.
Named as emergency is just s**t
Happening around the league, so not a big deal.
I’m sure when expected to debut he’ll get the special treatment & our media will be all over it.

What’s Martins form been like in the 2s the last few weeks? Am I going crazy or has Martin not played any footy in months?

Kick in the teeth for all the players who have been putting in the effort in the 2s
Iirc he's played 1 game, last weekend, had 18 touches - 16 handballs 2 kicks. Then straight into the 1s.

There's no chance we are winning this. I don't know how anyone would think we are a chance.
And now no Pitt?
I’m full of hope and optimism thanks to RP84 I’ve got great tickets for me and my oldest son his first night game.
Essendon is one team where form can be reversed against the grain.
Win lose or draw I’ll have a pie a beer enjoy time with my son and the journey.
I’m going to yell and cheer the team I’ve loved as a kid.
I’m a simple man if we beat this mob it’s a successful season
The season is almost done and buried but I will pump the chest bring out the paddles and try and kickstart the team to revive the hope.
If we lose I’ll be a bit flat if we win I’ll be over the flipping moon
Backs against the wall back to back no retreat no surrender I believe in a blue blooded fight for our club/Season
WE CAN WIN

All we are saying is give Dow a chance

In all my years of supporting the club, I've never known of a fringe player being the subject of so much discussion. It's extraordinary really

DOw can fix the issues in defense ( there aren't many buyt anyway) - fix teh midfield's inability to score and foix teh forward line scoring issues as well as the basic lack of skill execution for every VFL player in firsts - didn't you know?

Not seen a single person say anything like any of that. The position re dow support has been elqouently explained many times - let's see what he can do with a block of games. Carlton fans are searching for potential silver linings this season. This seems like a possible candidate for a feel good positive story for the club.

I’d be more impressed if Dow could proof read your posts for u 😂

I'm struggling to see the feel good side to this story. The player that we picked at number 3 in the draft, into the 6th year of his AFL career, hasn't been able to claim a spot in a team that hasn't played a finals match since his arrival. It reads more like a tragedy, along with the stories of SPS and LOB, wasted high-end picks. I had hope for Dow 2 or 3 years ago, but none now, he will never make our team better. I imagine that he will be reunited with SOS next year. I can't see a bidding war for his services.

Isn't a tragedy with a good ending not a tragedy anymore.... If he gets a chance and grabs it what's the issue? Seems a bit like people would prefer it to remain the tragedy instead of a positive story.

Yeah I imagine it'll go like you say, reunite with SOS at the saints for not much roi.

Wouldn't it be nicer come end of season Carlton fans saying yeah we missed finals but we found some gems and confidence. Kemp and dow finished the season strong, that cuningham looks good again. Good base for Voss to build off for next season. I'm just not that eager to commit to the 'tragedy' I guess. I'd prefer to stay optimistic that a better resolution can occur for Dow and by extension for Carlton. As if he does kill it if given a chance that's only.a good thing for the club

Well, I think that it's pretty clear that he won't be at Carlton next year. As far as Cuningham goes I can't see it, love him as a player but he's far too fragile. Kemp I'd be doing everything to hold onto, should be a great player within the next couple of years. The next two to three years of trading and drafting will be important, we have quite a few players that will need to be moved out. I do believe that we can do that while improving.

Yeah. Refresh rather than rebuild - I hope anyway.

What are peoples thoughts on the rolling out of the 16 premiership cups by each team on game day?

In my opinion, it shows how out of touch these clubs are with reality...

100% it’s not something we need to be doing right now.
