I’d have him as a rotating mid allowing one of Cripps and Kennedy to play stints up front and I’d be expecting Walsh/Cerra to perhaps be taking up the slack on the wing to cover Cotters
Yeh I see that as a possible move and I am a big fan of Kennedy especially playing more HF. Only thing is I think we look best when Cerra and Walsh play on ball. Both spread from a stoppage far better than any of the other mids we have and I thought our dominance against the Suns in that 2nd was mostly on Walsh exiting from the initial stoppage quickly and through the corridor giving quick entries to our forwards.

Dow has been a great sub for a month but needs a full game of footy. He obviously wasn't going to get that in the 1's this week so it's a simple call. Wouldn't surprise me if he's actually above Hewett in the pecking order right now.
I think he should be seagull.
Unless George can pick up some good form again.

One of the last things I want to see is Cerra spending extended times out of the middle. A little rotation/rest on a flank, sure. But predominantly on-ball, and not busting a nut out on the wing to defensively cover for 2 or more of Cripps/Kennedy/Dow/Hewett.

I want our primary/1st-choice mid unit to be Cripps, Cerra & Walsh. Wings (& a HHF) to all be runners, so the likes of Acres, Docherty, Hollands, Cottrell, Binns.

I don't mind Cripps & Kennedy going forward in patches, playing as marking forwards, but having any of them spend significant time there, especially in situations where there's 3 talls on-field in that part of the ground. Dow being part of that inside-fwd rotation probably has to count as a marking option, despite not really being on in the same way, as he's not going to provide the run & pressure that the smaller types provide.

Why isn't 200cm Harry McKay sharing ruck duties? Would add some needed ersatility to his game and help alleviate some of the duplication between him and Charlie (who is a better and more reliable goal kicker) while also giving him a way to cotribute outside scoreboard impact.

Surely playing against Ned Reeves would be a chance to give him a shot.

I don’t want to risk match winners in the ruck.
Just because you’re tall doesn’t mean you know how to play the role.

Maybe you were too busy on here riling people up as usual to notice, but Dow was in the team that won last time we played. And he played very well.
Riling up? Mate, pop yourself into the autopsy thread, or the list management thread, or drop by after team selection or even better, the match day thread if we're struggling. Not me that riles up the insecure bleaters here. If it wasn't Dow it would be another player who should or shouldn't be playing. Majority here don't know the first thing about what Dow is being directed to do. Your idea of "played very well" - after the game was won - may not be the same as the coach's. Just a tiny reflection for ya. Don't get all riled up over it.

Lewis Young was a forward/ruck who we have repurposed as a defender. He's in the reserves doing nothing. Choice is obvious.
No.... Lewis young was an intercept defender who was too slow and timid so the bulldogs repurposed him as a ruck.... Which didn't go well, so he left. Fair play too I don't think it suits him and he thought the same at that time, he's not 'tough' enough for bash and crash rucking and his agility isn't that of a TDK type to leap and tap ruck. Would prefer makeshifts like cripps and McKay splitting time tbh.

We invested pick 2 or 3 for the kid, the club should be doing EVERYTHING they can to make him work

This is not a strong team.

No CJ, no Sicily, their KPDs 194cm and 196cm respectively.

It’s their run overlap footskills that is their main strengths, also their pressure/tackling when they are really on…
They’re just a little inconsistent week to week so you’re not sure what your up against…

Frost fights as hard as the best of them. Still some good in that backline despite being short and inexperienced.
Ol' Frosty.....the type of player that will take mark of the year, hit the ground running, take 5 bounces, then launch a 70m torpedo.....the wrong way.....

Fair comment. I would like to see him develop and add that string though, and it doesn't have to mean he is a major center bounce threat. He also seems a better option than Silvagni long term.

Right now McKay is our second string forward but doesnt really offer much beyond marking - he doesnt provide pressure, isnt great when the ball is on the ground cant push back defensively. He is actually good playing up the ground and rucking would feed into that.

Even adding Hawkins ability to grab it out of the ruck and kick goals inside 50 (allowing the real ruck to conserve energy) would be useful.

And just to cheer everyone up, guess who's blowing the whistle 😂

He's actually been very good this year in our games he's umpired....
He's a very good umpire but paid one howler of a decision against us with SPS against WCE. It is bizarre how fixated Carlton supporters think for that reason he hates us or treats us any differently.

McKay is not a second string forward.
He might be underperforming compared to Charlie but guess how Charlie’s form would go without McKay there.
