Truly amazed there has been so little made of our two impending centurions.

Congratulations Charlie Curnow (100 fir the Blues) and Nic Newman (100 AFL games)

BTW Tipping there is no way Ed is left out for this one!

People please Dow is concussed and WONT play this week can we just go one week without the Dow talk.
Oddly enough I wasn't taking posters comments as confirmation, but here's this instead:

... Dow suffered a concussion at VFL level and won't play this week ...

Just on Ed, still surprised at the pasting he copped over the weekend

16 touches at 81%, 7 SI, 4 tackles, 16 PA and covered more distance than anyone

Better than average

I don’t think supporters dislike Ed far from it,it’s just that we have to play kids before him I think we all get this but are confused on what role he plays that our young players could play as well.

With Charlie’s 100th this week there’s no chance he’ll be dropped as well. You can bet on that (gamble responsibly).

What Ed does, that most outside the side can't at the moment is read the room

Meaning, he is disciplined in supporting every aspect of the gameplan, predominantly defensive running and acts

He like Fog are the perfect role players, strong contested, disciplined players every moment of the game, even though they make the occasional error

I think the criticism isn't for Ed. He gives his all every time he suits up.

It's the fact that he won't be there next year and so we'd be better off getting games into others.

Keeping Ed as a break glass in case of emergency type option if our midfield gets decimated.

While his is output is reasonable, playing Carroll, for example, in the same role wouldn't give you much less but would have the added benefit of giving a young player experience.

This is accurate however it’s also an indictment on some others on the list that mere adherence to the game plan is enough to justify a senior game.
Love Ed but he’s slow and has poor skills … if only we can transplant his effort and compliance into the body of someone a little younger and more capable.

Young/Silvagni took more marks combined in one game than TDK/Pitto in any game this season.

Rucks providing consistent marking targets has been a deficiency of ours all season.

There's something in that. Can they replicate vs Freo? Not sure but it was refreshing to see nonetheless.
Wow. That's quite a stat.

I guess the TDK / Pitto combo has only featured in a handful of games this year. But still.

Ed slow? Sort of but guess who was no 1 for distance at high speed? Guess who was no 3 for repeat sprints? Guess who was no 2 for average speed in defence? The bloke may be old, the bloke might not be the most skilful, but he is an aerobic beast who will absolutely bury himself for the team.

No one doubts his endurance.
Players like Lachie O’Brien and Matt Cottrell often rate highly in those areas - doesn’t mean they demand selection.

Nic newman on Walters is a perfect matchup. Can be flaky and go missing perfect for him.

Weitering to Jackson/Darcy will be great for his ability to get off and help and intercept.

Kemp or McGovern matchup on amiss is a tough one. He only had Ryan Gardner last week and he tore him up for periods. Kemp and mcgovern both will be giving up cms.

They also have treaty who is basically irrelevant. If it’s wet as expected we should get the perfect matchup with whom ever misses out on amiss.

Switkowski and Shultz have torn us apart previously. swit generally plays arc to arc and pushes up to the stoppage. So it has to be Docherty or Cincotta in my opinion. Shultz will get saad.

Seeing Brayshaw Henry omeara and Clark on ball is pretty light on for working on the inside. We should have them there. The interesting part will be outside the contest.

Wings have been Henry Clark Frederick and Johnson which is pretty inexperienced. We should be able to work the wings in space with Cotterell going to Henry as the defensive side and acres should be able to blow them apart on the other working both ways.

Ryan Cox young and pierce in the backline should hurt our two keys in the air if we move with pace and lower our eyes like we’ve been doing. The tough part will be at ground level as Ryan and young play the in between roles very well. I’d expect pierce to try take Harry up the ground and will fail. While Cox will struggle v Curnow. Either way it ends up they should have their way from 50-80 metres out kicking to one or the other going back.

At ground level I think Owies should do well as will Fogarty with his pressure. We need this and we need the ball staying inside 50 for our inside mods to get every chance to get it out for snaps at goal to cunners fog and Martin. There backline will definitely struggle if we get out early.

Carlton by 28 points.
It won't be wet.

I was there and then watched the replay.

Ed was bloody average, bordering on a liability.

His disposal is terrible.

Stats can be rubbish sometimes.

TDK and moreso Pitto aren't leading options. They're normally in packs trying to take contested marks. Silvagni leads consistently up the wing. Young also got free marks in the back line when we were chipping it around. Granted, they're both better marks than TDK/Pitto combo.

If TDK is fit, does that mean either Young or JSOS come out, will be harsh after both being quite good last week but for balance I don’t think all can play.
Given the average height & leg speed of Freo I reckon it'll be JSOS. Sean Darcy will towel up any of our rucks anywho

I think it's time we put Kennedy in the Centre and put Cripps in as a second ruck with TDK

I think it kills culture if you do drop SOS after the shift he put in, and arguably he is a better ruck than Young regardless. If SOS bought into the role he would actually be the perfect sub, flexible to cover any position, could become like a specialist ‘6th man’ in the NBA..

Watch again without the biased mindset.
He did his job and very important in many plays that created goals.
All teams are full of players that do their job without getting the votes.

Weather in Perth is expected to be 18 and fine. JSOS surely cannot be dropped, after his ripping game.
Young was pretty good, but I think he will be the unlucky one to miss out.
Would rather Pitt than TDK for this game, but if they are both fit to play then that could work.
Maybe sub Pitt off at half time and bring Dow in to the action.

With every week that passes I become a little more accepting of the bizarre decisions made at team selection.

This will be the first time Ed Curnow has been picked this year for a reason anyone outside of the Match Committee can understand.

It's not a good reason.. but at least it's something..
