Some less obvious observations:

- Hewetts form has miraculously picked up past couple of weeks, his performance in the next month will set us up, at his best he is a top 5 player for us and he is almost there.

- Also keen for Boyds return - he isn’t perfect but he is part of this unsung hero group that just go forward and apply pressure at all costs, along with Fogs, Cottrell, Cunners, Acres, Kemp- this group is responsible for the clubs systemic changes the past six weeks.

Potentially erasing some very deep rooted ‘play it soft and safe’ cultural issues brought on by the Murphy Gibbs Judd era

- Dow although unpolished , had the same attitude as the above players this week, win contested ball and get it forward at all costs

- McGovern is possibly the most underrated and versatile players on our list, get his signature on a piece of paper as a matter of priority (and yes before JSOS)

- Jack Martin is a better version of JSOS, potentially don’t need both. JSOS has given me years of almost being amazing but falling short - his 3 odd weeks of a good patch this month is not enough to go Gaga over his signature.

And finally , there is something very ‘bulldogs 2016’ about our vibe coming into the pointy end … we are severely depleted but for good teams with the right leadership in place, that doesn’t matter, injuries become an opportunity for new heroes to spawn to life (Paddy Dow I hope you’re listening)

Gov always was rated...since club sorted his hammy he could sustain an a grade rating....he got plenty and should stay by club as the a grade Martin has also got plenty of money during injury..
Hewett can be also a grade...running into form again,he's very solid
Dow....sill a sub role ok....put expectations on him will be disappointed.....prefer ED perhaps.
Have to take Saints......
Still no guarantee make finals.....this big clash✔

Feeling more nervous about this game than Collingwood. We have not handled expectations well this season and St Kilda are always a bogey team. Lyon will be working hard to stop our run and will be interesting how we respond to a gameplan set up to slow us down.

Tell me about how we have handled expectations since the Gold Coast game and you have your answer.

Injuries to Walsh and Cerra are the biggest factors rather than our game plan/style/pressure.

We have been great no doubt, however it is only Eagles & Hawks games where we would have started favourite and they barely count.. The other games the pressure was off and opposition coaches not coaching against us.. Its a different story now where we are expected to win, will start favourite and Lyon will be setting up tactically to beat us, rather than the other way around.

So Hinkley and McRae didn't bother turning up?

Every win counts. They're all worth the same amount of points.

Of course they did, but when you have been the better performed team you naturally focus more on your own game plan and less on the oppositions.

I think there is very little Lyon can do to stop us if we bring the same heat on the game.

Disagree, just like we were able to shut down games and make them a grind with low scoring this is the way Saints set up. Only Collingwood has less points scored against this year than StKilda. We would be foolish to think the game will be played on our terms.

There’s a little he can do, Steele is one of the few people ever to really curb Crippa - he gets shut down it’s going to hurt with no Cerra & Walsh.
He can also clog up the back half & really drag this game down to a dirty scrap.
Don’t think it will work, we will be able to work through it but it could be tough.
We bring the effort & keep moving the ball aggressively we will be fine - Hawks almost did them through fast ball movement, we are better at it than they are.
We really need to keep faith in the structure & make sure we provide run off the lines for our clearance, need Cunners to step up this week and get the first receive - confident Dow & Hewett can step up if Crippa is held. Hope Doc is used to provide run & pressure not being used a designated inside mid.

Hawks looked like a VFL team in the first quarter so would not be taking to much out of yesterdays game.

We need to keep Sinclair to under 30 possessions as he provides all of their run.

Look forward to see how our new style of play stacks up against the run of the Saints. Have horrible memories of them getting us through the middle.

The Saints win this weekend at least keeps them above us on the ladder and will hopefully keep the team better focused that they're not going to be just a walk in the park. They have some good in's coming in (Membery, Hill, King*)... we have a good one going out (Cerra).

We won't leak as many centre clearances as the Hawks did you would think and that contributed hugely to their win against the Hawks.

I'd take a 1 point win as long as there are no injuries.

I'm not convinced they'll play Membrey. We worry about him because he's our bogey player but his form doesn't warrant selection.

Where in good form.
But geez the saints have still got me mentally after what they’ve done to us over the years!!
I’d love to bury them this weekend!
Can we keep our run going??
Are we a bit banged up and tired to keep it going??
This is another big test for us in other ways.
They always rise for our game and seem to play out of there skin.

St.Kilda have conceded less points than Carlton this year. That’s actually us in the top 2 back lines, but please, go on 👍

Points conceded isn't the only metric for determining the better defence...

We've played the top team twice already. And our 2 games against Eagles are cancelled out by your 2 games against North.

Not ashamed to say St Kilda are living rent free in my head. No easy games at the moment unfortunately, would take a 1 point win.

If everyone keeps playing "their roles" then i think we can account for the saints.

I play alot of super coach/dream team, have noticed during our recent winning streak the "scoring" of carlton players has reduced someone.. we have gone from multiple mid-fielders racking up 30 plus possie games to a more even spread.
