I heard Tom Browne go with it on MMM this morning

Did he actually though? Because the fake Tom Browne twitter account tweeted it last night, and he’s been spewing mostly garbage trying to get people to think it’s actually Tom Browne

(The fake one is @TomBrowne7)

Happy birthday Gunners, please don’t leave us.

This SEN article about next year. Two of the 11 are Lions boys.
...............
Keidean Coleman (Brisbane)

“An incredible finals series, out of contract next year, will Brisbane secure him early or will he hold out?” Johnson said on AFL Trade Radio.

Kane Cornes: “I think he should hold off because I think he is undervalued in terms of what he would be paid. If you’re looking at the numbers, he’s probably a $650,000 player. He’s probably not getting half that at the moment.”

Johnson: “Daniel Rich has now retired, Coleman is the main man off half back and Brisbane need to get this deal done quickly.”

Hugh McCluggage (Brisbane)

Johnson: “This is big. No one’s talking about Hugh, but he can seriously play elite football every week. He will get a big pay cheque, whether that’s at the Lions or not – you think it would be. Ultimately, his name will be discussed by a number of clubs trying to secure his services.”

Cornes: “He’s entering his free agency season. He’s a million-dollar player now with the new collective bargaining deals and his roots in Victoria and the amount of clubs that need the hybrid inside-outside midfielder. He’s a player I’d pay $1 million.”

He's currently leading a golfing tour of the US with the majority of the playing list that he initiated and organised.

I think he's going to get a decent pay day but I can't see any reason on either side it won't be from us.

I've never understood why anyone cares what rando ex-footballers in the media say about anything. Might as well listen to people posting on here.

Also, a million dollar player under the new CBA is probably a 900k ish player under the old one? I don't think Hugh is quite that, consistency isn't there yet. But his back half of the year/finals series was very strong.

Some news, in relation from some players at the club.

JACK GUNSTON
  • This has been bubbling since Grand Final week but only last Friday did it become public that Jack Gunston wants to get back to Hawthorn.
  • The Hawks are prioritising Mabior Chol and Massimo D’Ambrosio, but the sense is they will end up getting this done, though Brandon Ryan won’t be part of it.
RHYS MATHIESON
  • Free agent who may need to wait.

I question whether many Hawks supporters watched us this year.

Some are even saying that had we played Gunston in the GF we would have won. 😳

No no no no no.

They're absolutely right. Dropping Gunston was a terrible move, he lit the field up all year. Second round pick and Ryan or GTFO. Come on Mitchell, getting back the prodigal son will be quite the feather in your cap!

Second rounder is a bit light in return for us mate.

The club should be demanding PICK 4 and Lewis otherwise then GTFO ;)

I’m glad you’ve finally come around to my thinking. Except for trading him, he is priceless.

Methinks that, in the sad event that recruitment decisions were being made on the basis on BigFooty opinions, that a single post extolling the virtues of Jack or the wisdom of Elixuh etc would not outweigh the generic angst his presence has reflected on this board up to and including a level of half-shameful delight when he was injured and so couldn't be picked.

Of course his being in the team would have changed the game ... we would have lost by more ;)

Some of them are still well connected. And some of them have a great understanding of the game. If I hear Hodgey or Bucks on analysis, I actually pay attention.

Of course, for every one of them, there are 5 Nick Dal Santos, David Kings, Leigh Montagnas. Lucky they made it in football, because they don't have the basic intelligence to have survived otherwise.

And then there's Kane Cornes... Nuff said.

The funny thing is Cornes is probably one of the smartest (or maybe canniest) of the lot. Not in who or what he knows but in how to exploit the market. He was the one who really identified the gap and then is 100% exploiting the outrage side of media. Unfortunately there is way more demand for Cornes outrage bait than there is for actual careful and proper analysis
