Phoenix Gothard sounds a bit like a Charlie / linc replacement. I guess it depends how much faith we have in Lohmann to come on. Feel as though 2024 is a big year for him, should be forcing his way in to the team by now. Should make pressure off the ball his weapon. He lowers his eyes really well i think, could be a great link in our forward line i think because of that
lol we’re on the same page. Loved what he did in the championships this year.

We probably do need to invest in another small forward or utility type player though regardless of what happens with Lohmann, with Cockatoo retiring now and if rumours are true that B.Coleman & White Jnr will be delisted by the club at the end of this year.
Think Coleman will be on our list in 2024 but dont like Whitey Jnr's chances.

I'm in good company then :)

Lohmann was a genuine bolter - i think shows some good signs but is no guarantee to kick on.

It will be interesting to see how Cameron's end of career goes. Similar player to Betts, relies on speed and movement. That will drop off. Betts was at his peak still in 2017. He turned 31yo at then end of that season. On that metric Charlie has 2 more elite seasons left, given he is 29yo now (turned in July). You'd take that really given it aligns with the peak of our window (we hope) with Daniher / Neale / Linc / Oscar should also still be at their peak during that time but go downhill after.

Betts' 2 seasons after are a bit hard to gauge because the crows went from 17 wins in 2017 to 9 in 2018. And there was the dreaded draft camp. But Betts had 2 more good season in 2018/19 while not seeming at his peak anymore.

Could he still be picked up as a Rookie?

We could but generally those delistings are announced separately or we make it clear we're committed to re-drafting them as a rookie. This seems like "so long, good luck."

Pretty much what most on here expected.

Time now for some new faces to see if they can produce the goods in the next few years.

I thought DJ White showed a bit and would’ve been retained.
I would have thought so too, but he is on the older side for someone who wasn't close to breaking into the team so that probably played a part.

Mathieson has done well to last as long as he has on an AFL list.

Daryl White in the majority of games I saw was rather poor with some glimpses but not enough to warrant another extension.

Blake Coleman unfortunately did not take the opportunity of his natural talent to make a career of AFL. Pitty he would have been exciting to watch.

Matho - Heart and soul player of the club but he just wasn’t suited to the modern game.

It’s such a shame we didn’t get to see him celebrating in the rooms with the boys after a GF win. I reckon he would have been more excited than most of those who played.

I’d love to see him given another chance elsewhere. You at least know you’ll get 100% effort from him.
