I appreciate that this time is an indication of a broader speed, endurance, or fitness concern but I have never understood why a 2km time trial is some sort of defacto proof of whether a player can play midfield or any other position. Many positions require repeat sprint efforts rather than running a good middle distance time at a steady pace. Clubs don't run 2km time trials every week at training. They do it at the start of pre-season. It's a good metric for taking a snapshot of fitness levels. But it's irrelevant late in the season when match fitness is the only thing that counts, not an arbitrary running distance.
Yep I'm with you it's not how quick your legs are sometimes it's how big your heart is.

Ablett snr, Dusty talk is a lot!

Do you remember how good Ablett was. If he was in a professional underage system he would make Reid look like Scott Clayton.

Harley seems like a great kid, hope he does well and sure he will. But if we are talking about trading 3 picks for him let’s be realistic , there is MUCH more chance he ends up like Jaeger O'Meara or Bryce Gibbs than Ablett.

Reid can’t run, Mckercher can’t kick, Watson too small, Duursma and Curtin potentially biggest upside.
Can’t believe every professional recruiter has it so wrong at the top of the order. Couldn’t be a rush to misjudgement from fans watching a few video clips.

There has also been Luke hodge talk too off half back

If he is running 2km at 7.40 he ain’t anywhere near being a midfielder. Does he just not have the tank or a bit lazy/unprofessional?

Talk of giving up 3 x 1st rounders for a mid sized forward who can’t run seems insane.

Clearly he has skills and if we had pick 1 you take him but that number is a worry.
More likely that a single metric doesn’t tell anywhere near the whole story.

Its funny watching one of the chicks games they listed the average height of North V the other team. We have 2 giant chicks and still only averaged 170cm same height as Watson. The other team was 165cm av.

But yeah im not too sure about Watson tbh and there is no doubt McKercher's disposal is second rate at best. Duursma i only just looked at and is an outstanding mark for his size, moves very well and is a great kick. Seems to have got few goals on turnovers from what i saw (being loose), so i wonder, where was his man? Does he chase?

From what ive seen theres very little difference between Reid and Sanders, the former with an edge overhead the later with kicking. Personally i reckon a lot of the pick climbing is for Sanders and why we met so much resistance on the NGA thing.

Id be happy with one of Reid or Sanders given the later means we still have the higher teen picks. Then Duursma at 3. Plus if we take Sanders we might well be able to live trade into the O'Sullivan zone.

JHF is and will forever be a better player than HR.

He has explosive speed.
Great Mark.
Great Kick.
Tackkes Hard.
Compact solid Build.

HR skillset is below that of JHF in every aspect other than the DH aspect.

So stop comparing what we were offered for JHF pre trade. We were never going to give him up.

HR at best is worth a pick 2 and 15 and even then I'm not sold that he will be better than Kerch, Dursma,Sanders or Watson.

Im not seeing. Reid is a better mark, roughly the same build and just as good of a kick. While he 'may' not be quite as explosive he has the strength to break tackles 'dont argue style'.
That said the closest to JHF for mine is Sanders.

Yeah we need an online vote to select our draftees

You still need effective aerobic fitness to make repeat sprints. those repeat sprints are dependent on your ability to pay off O2 debt and running 2km is a good indicator of whether you can do that. Yo-Yos are as well, probably better, and my understanding is HR has a shit yo-yo result as well.

Typical bigfooty hyperbolic response. I’m just critiquing the top end talent and who I would prefer. Reid may well be the best prospect but I don’t think he is worth the capital to move up one spot. Duursma is already rated the same or better than Mckercher and Watson by the ”experts”. Curtin is rated thereabouts too.

And yes, my opinion is based on watching limited video footage (just like 90% of posters), you got that right.

We got pick 3 and F15 for JHF.

We have this draft hand this year. If we wanted to we could offer the same for HR without WC needing to wait a year for 15.

You could also argue that PA got JHF for 8 and F15 so 3 and 18 is more a lot more the PA gave up.

We need an online poll ..Should be a simple YES or NO answer..Oh wait! isnt that being done today..;)
Albo should have had the foresight to add a second ballot paper to today's proceedings to help inform Brady. Probably would have done it for South Sydney if the NRL had a draft.
