Can't see us grabbing Watson so we still lack a small who can crumb and a small who can apply fwd pressure.... and agree jmah and spice didn't add much and only kept going to turner as as nothing else.... if comb going back then don't need a tall kpd this yr as good. Over now so a caddy would be helpful fwd plus duurs

Collard might be in the frame with one of our late first rounders.

We need scoreboard impact, we can't rely on Larkey as heavily as we do.

Don't even need to be quick really, Fritsch is Melbourne's best forward by a country mile, he isn't that quick, he just has the smarts to find space and his mids look for him. If our non-KPF look dangerous and threaten to score, their opponents can't sag off them as much as they are allowed to do at present. It will give Larkey more space.

I really like McCreery at Collingwood, he doesn't have sublime skills, but he is quick and he puts heaps of pressure on, what did he kick 17 goals, i bet more than that were kicked from turnovers he forced just by having a crack. We have guys like Taylor who are gifted with talent but are either lazy or stupid, plays like he has just woken up from a two week bender. I'd rather have Mahony out there than Taylor because I know at least Mahony will have a crack and gives a s**t.
We have Brayden George coming in, who is a powerful leading player. If he comes in ready then he will provide an alternate target.
We might be drafting Duursma, who will kick goals. Maybe Reid, as well.
We can probably push Sheezel forward now that we have Fisher and Stephens. He'll kick goals but also setup easy goals for others.
Zurhaar will be back from injury.

There will be a decent injection of goal kicking talent up forward.

We will have more options for sure. We just need players to step up.

Both still have a lot to prove but Hansen Jnr is the crumber and Drury the pressure.

Both have huge upside still so fingers crossed another preseason gives them the the time they need to step up and make an impact next year.

Only 19 the both of them so good luck to them

The below data represents the departing NM footballers come the end of 2023 by way of retirement, delisting, player movement etc.

It would be reasonable to assume the below data is 'replacement value' & it's fair to say we are chasing 'improved value'.

It will be interesting to see if the newly recruited players coming in next season, ie Pink, Fisher, Stephens, Mannagh*, draft picks etc perform equal or better.

*Note: I have included Logue in the data below as he won't play in 2024.

It's a considerable amount to replace.

You'd hope George, Harvey, the two trades we got from carlton and the Swans and even Sheeze can cover that. Maybe Chom having a full season kicks a couple as well.

Curtis, Hansen Jr, Drury, Harvey and I would be looking to transfer Simpkin down there. Plus Sheezel, Thomas, Stevo and Zurhaar have some small forward-like skills. Reid would, as well, if we get him.

Watson would be nice but we can function okay without adding another small forward.

Agree all can play down there but none are true small fwds. Drury could turn to a pressure fwd

Personally see Hansen as more of that high fwd type but happy to trial him see how we go

I think it is an exciting time to be a NMFC supporter.

Our forward line and midfield are projecting to be very good, to top shelf. Whilst we are missing a 2nd KPF forward ATM, the mix of mediums might actual force us to lead at the ball more often, and less down the line nonsense.

As much as posters keep lamenting all the holes on our list, are backline spots that hard to fill? Ready Rucks and KPD are always on the market.

FFS, Matt Spangher, Frampton, Mike Pyke are premiership players.

7 Spots to fill? What am I missing?....13 out, 4 in.....we get to keep our 2 extra list spots do we not? That's 9, and likely to take 5 in the draft. That leaves another 4 for DFA, rookie, PSD, MSD, etc??? Or am I missing something?

We finished the season with 2 on LTI.

Yeah you are right, most of his highlights are across half fwd but I think he’s got that agility, tackling , clean hands to play closer to goal alongside Paul Curtis and the talls.

He does love to play up the ground though but we have Stepho, Thomas, George, Zurhaar, Taylor and others doing that.

Time will tell

Pink covers off McKays stats nicely.

Harvey was actually NM best contested mark when you average it all out, in saying that - small data set.

Its quality over quantity for mine. As it sits right now we have the following incoming:
Dylan Stephens
Zac Fisher
Toby Pink
Bigoa Nyuon
Brayden George (Considered a new player regarding below data - Data utilised was from Coates League)

Using available data from the AFL, VFL, SANFL, Coates etc, based on previous returns from the above players, we should see improvement in certain categories listed below.
The outgoing players 2023 isn't flattering to say the least.

Certain stats for players aren't recorded in certain competitions, however the data is averaged out conditionally to reflect this.
