fantasia will probably get delisted but does he have any footy left in him, ready made small forward

otherwise xavier o'halloran is playing that role well for gws and is out of contract and from victoria
What do you think of Sam Hayes from Port. In for his 1st game of the season this week. Would be pretty good back up ruck i reckon could even become the no1 option

We will certainly be looking to get more quality experienced players in.

I look at that 6 and see a lot of question marks, like the rest of our list.

Jy is a good player, will he ever be a great player that can push for the 40AA squad?
LDU has proven himslf as a quality mid but has never really put a full season together for various reasons.
George looking good after his 5 or 6 games, still a couple of years away from developing a tank to push him into the top mids in the comp.
Sheezel, will he become a full time mid or play a role back or forward.
Tarryn one slip up away form being out the door.
Will Phil is tracking ok, but jury is still out. On output Powell is probably ahead of him.

Fair calls here, but id say the question marks on Powell are even bigger. Put on a heap of size in an attempt o play inside mid and hasnt been able to lock in a spot. The tank doesnt seem there to be able to run all day on the wing, and his defensive side of his game is questionable too.

Get your point though. None of them are bonafide A graders yet, although LDUs ceiling is almost the highest in the comp

Yeah, I have question marks on Powell as well.

However, i do think he is one of our better distributers and decision makers going inside 50. I think he put on a lot of size over the preseason and would like to see him really work on improvoing his tank next off season.

Targets in the off-season we should consider include:

  • L McNeil
  • R Garcia
  • A Johnson
  • B McCreery
  • J Ginnivan (yes hes a pest, but a pest that can win games)
  • P Dow
  • T Dow (cheap/rookie)
  • S Wicks
  • K Dunkley (cheap/rookie)
  • I Soldo
  • J LLoyd
  • J Battle
  • H Clark
  • C Idun
  • H Himmelberg
  • J Wehr
  • C Burgess (cheap/rookie)
  • C Ah Chee
  • J Riccardi (worth the punt to see?)
  • K Coleman
  • R Burton
  • C Stone
AMONG OTHERS.

Targets in the off-season we should consider include:

  • L McNeil, R Garcia - buyer beware on the fringe Bulldogs player.
  • A Johnson, B McCreery, J Ginnivan - can't see them leaving Collingwood. Would love McCreery
  • P Dow, T Dow (cheap/rookie) - the Dows would be about 50th choice in the pecking order for midfield minutes. Could form a nice combo for our VFL side though
  • S Wicks - as a pressure small, we could do a lot worse
  • K Dunkley (cheap/rookie) - is his brother coming too?
  • I Soldo - not for me
  • J LLoyd - seem entrenched up in Sydney
  • J Battle - good player with versatility, dont think he leaves St Kilda
  • H Clark - were a big chance last year, is that door closed now?
  • C Idun - underrated player
  • H Himmelberg - just my opinion, for the $$$ it'll cost I don't think it ends up being worth it
  • J Wehr - as cheap depth? sure
  • C Burgess (cheap/rookie) - as cheap depth? sure
  • C Ah Chee - not for me
  • J Riccardi (worth the punt to see?) - dont mind it
  • K Coleman - his best is very good and a far cry from what we've been trotting out across HB. Think Brisbane would be keen to retain him
  • R Burton - not sure if he'd be overly keen to reunite with the bloke that pushed him out of Hawthorn for Wingard...
  • C Stone - taking "leaving no stone unturned to improve the list" to a very literal interpretation
AMONG OTHERS.

Cats got a 1st round pick for Bruhn so I wouldn't accept anything less than a 1st round in a trade for Powell.
But yeah I wouldn't want to trade him as he has great skills and if he gets his fitness level up the next couple of years he might overtake Simpkin and Jy might have to play wing or forward.

He’s coped some shtick from their fans but him and Amiss will make a good team
He’s another KPP that should be on our list but isn’t because our previous recruiting / list management team apparently couldn’t see the need to build depth in that area. In 2020, after taking five small / medium players in the main draft, we took another flanker at pick 2 in the rookie draft (Pat Walker), with Treacy going at pick 7.

Surely we just throw a pick at ginnivan?

Riley Bonnar, can hit a target at least. Caleb Graham reasonable cover if Mckay leaves.
They’re a couple of cheap ones I’d look at to get us through a few years while we develop our own or are in a place to trade in or get FA’s.

Not against Billings on the cheap as a forward/wing option, just to give us cover for a couple of years.

Zac Fisher another who could be cheap and provide us with a of pace.

Riley Bonner is what you'd get if Miller Bergman hit a wall in his development like three years in, maybe with an extra 5 metres on his kick. I'd like to think we already have the players that would produce his output.

Don't mind Graham. Billings is injury prone. Fisher is whipping boy 101 material. I'd rather overpay Bailey Williams than go for Bonner, Billings or Fisher

I don't see the need for Billings. Would also rather pay up a second or third rounder for Flanders.

Interesting comparison

We need to add 3 or 4 senior players to get us through the next year or two.

Bonnar, will never be a star, but next year we are looking at a back 6 of Logue, Bergman with a struggling McDonald and Corr.
Young, Perez, Archer, Bonar are battlers. Hall, Ziebell are cooked.
Goater looks promising.

Who you adding to our back half? Going to the draft takes time and we are unlikely to attract high quality trades and FA’s.

Bailey Williams is about to extend with the Dogs so cross him out. I’d like to say Ash, but it’s just really unlikely.

It’s the same with players like Fisher and Billings, both are better than plenty on our list and buy us time to develop young kids.

We aren’t in a position to use high draft picks so these are the types we need to look at.
