In a perfect world, Turner would hold down the small back spot, and more perfect would be Archer carving out the dynasty
just maybe Ford could play back as it’s gonna get mighty crowded up fwd when George and Wardlaw come on board

A pre-season for end of season trading scenario that no-one asked for:

Start with picks 3, 7 (Poort), 40, 56 (Melb) & 57 (Haw)

1. Trade our 2024 1st pick along with picks 56 & 57 to Gold Coast for their picks 9 & 24.

2. Trade Lazzaro along with picks 24 & 40 to St Kilda for Hunter Clark and their 2024 4th pick.

3. Pick up Gresham as a free agent.

Out: Lazzaro, Ziebell, Hall, Spicer & Mahony.
In: Daniel Curtin, Nate Caddy, Nick Watson, Gresham & Clark. And BPJ as a Cat B rookie.
24 would be enough for hunter clark who is out of contract

Looks like Bruhn had a decent game. Did we miss much there?

Can’t miss when you didn’t take the shot.

Interesting as well watching the Stan doco tonight we didn’t attempt on Bowes either despite rumblings to the contrary.

Wasn't there someone on here saying Bruhn was considering us or cats

I think we got as far as Clarko batting his eyelids.

Speaking of a Clarko, Saints fans drooling over Hunter Clark after last nights praccy. Hopefully the damage is done on that one.

Sam Darcy out of contract throw cash at him

He’s the 4th key tall forward at the dogs then if he stays throw the cash at JUH

We haven't had recent success when the fathers (or step-fathers) of young players are likely to get involved!

Only Mr. Kavanagh has done right by us! :p

In a perfect world my mate just said that Turner would be sitting with us in the stands each week lol

We've got a long way to go.
Hopefully we can pick up a few gems.
Had enough of drafting a winger and trying to make them play hb or general defence.

Found that interesting as well. Everything that I got told suggested we were in with Bowes up to our eyeballs. I’ve been wrong before with inside word though…

Watched the second half last night and it's weird some of the stuff they were doing. The Dogs didn't want to be filmed on the last night yet Brady was practically walking into every shot he could.

Any idea what Colin Young was talking about on deadline day of trade period in Show me the Money? he mentioned “North, yes” a few times in relation to something

I think I was able to work this one out... they'd mentioned a five club trade which would have ended up sending Dunkley to the Lions and then said some clubs decided to do their deals away from that deal. This is the pick swap we ended up doing a few weeks later.

McKay would be stupid to sign early. He's going to look much better in a team with any sort of defensive system and with Griffin back there. The longer he waits, the better financially.
Yeah maybe, BUT so far I reckon Griff been doing most of the intercepting, and thats even before Corr comes back in. I have to wonder whats going through McKay's mind,,,,,he's emerged over the last couple of seasons as one of the best young KPD in the comp, but does he feel that he is getting support he needs with Griff coming in OR does he think Logue is taking over his role and he's being asked to play a differently? Subtle difference but could be a deciding factor in what he ultimately decides.

Logue is younger too, from the same draft as Jy.

Time will tell I guess. Might just be figuring each other and the system out, very early days and time to find how they complement best. To be honest I'd prefer McKay anchoring the KPF and Logue peeling off if I had a choice, seems much more mobile and cleaner by foot.

What did Adelaide offer us for the number one that we got Horne Francis with?

I seem to remember it was several high picks which would be manna from heaven if we had accepted.

We need lots of new players. I'm in favour of swops that leave us with more choices.

I don't think we will have to worry about volume of picks this year.

With 2 x R1 picks and a McKay compo pick probably 50/50 at this stage, I think we will have plenty of draft collateral.

The Adelaide and Richmond offers were (imo) the most overblown trade hyperbole on here in recent years.

The NMFC have spoofed up plenty of bad trades over the years but with all the information at hand in 2021 I think we made the best call we could.

And the offers were nowhere near as good as made out imo.

Crows deal

Out: 2021 #1, 2022 #19
In: 2021 #4, 2022 #5, 2022 #15

2022 picks cancelled each other out.

Richmond deal

Out: 2021 #1
In: 2021 #7, #15, #26, CCJ
(opinion: I think there would've also been sweeteners demanded by Richmond in a final deal, they didn't just hand over CCJ for nicks in the end)

Final deal

Out: 2021 #1 2022 #1
In: 2022 #2 2022 #3 2023 #(1-18)
Plus other bits that don't particularly affect the net result of these top picks.

I honestly think we did better in the end.

Isn't nearly as good as it sounds.

Adelaide offered us 3 first rounders on the proviso we gave back our second. The third they offered was tied to the Dees from memory so would have been swapping 19 for say around 17. Negligible return

It would have been pick 1 &19 for picks 6, 6 and 17.

Now the kicker is every side wanted to be inside the top five for the 2022 draft. We managed that twice.

So pick 1 and 1 for 3, 4 & Poorts first in 23. When you consider we would have taken Sheezel with pick one, we've done ok.

I'm not a talent watcher but I think it is fair to say the first rd of the 2023 draft is deeper than the first round in 2022.

Someone more vested in this can confirm? :)

Besides losing JHFF our drafting in 2022 at this early stage is looking good, Goater, Curtis & Bergman.
