Its not super clear to me how any of the teams Caro mentions gets the Smith deal done - aside from the Hawks.

Collingwood have pick 18 and then have to rely on future picks. Would the bulldogs really take that for a contracted player regarded by many as a star? To say nothing of the salary cap implications?

Geelong only have pick 7 until pick 80 or something and already need to something get 3 kids through the draft with that one pick somehow.

Hawthorn could, but pick 3 seems high for a bloke who is such a terrible kick?
There is also the not trading to a direct competitor at the same stage of development to consider. That should rule Pies out.

I don’t buy the argument.

Petracca was the best player in the draft and fir some reason at kilda went mcartin.

Delidio was traded out just before the tigers run.

Cooney similar with the dogs

Factor in that the top pick has been held by a small group of clubs.

I’d rather have 1 than 2 right now and clarko would too
Also not forgetting that Nick Riewoldt was a number 1 draft pick who went close to 2 premierships.

Geelong will get a second round pick for esava. I reckon they will be able to get a deal done if he requests them.

I want Geelong to get him. Fools gold.

Sorry Flawed Genius , Jsos has apparently re-signed with the Blues according to their ITK posters.

Never understood the star hype for smith. It’s not his footballing ability, the campaigner can’t kick.
Is it cos he’s a hot little potato?
Or is it the rate at which he racks up lines of coke?
Sometimes he reminds me a bit of LDU. The way LDU can charge out of contests with that core strength and burst ... I've noticed Smith do it a few times as well.

Tackles well and runs extremely hard but was bin juice in decision making and by foot.

Probably cost us a couple of goals a game and usually at crucial times that swung momentum completely to the opposition side..

Like Young, getting shocking errors out of your game is doable by focusing on the basics and just getting the ball into the hands of better ball users to go long. If you are not an elite kick, don't kick long unless you have no other option. I am sure he would get better if given more time to gel and understand the running patterns of our half backs.

I am not opposed to giving him another year, especially given Logue's injury and the fact Bonar is Garneresque in terms of ability to miss games.
