North didn’t really do that though. It was pick 1 + Horne for 2,3 and ports future first. Hard to decipher what the value of pick 1 is there but at best it’s probably more like pick 2 and a future first (around pick 10-12)
Better comparison would be the Eagles - started with pick 2, ended up with picks 8 @ 12.
Rioli was also traded away, and they got in a F2 and F3 from Port, so for easy of argument I'll treat these two as two separate transactions.
Without knowing how deep this draft is from a top-end of the draft perspective, I feel like you only do this if you've got two very clear targets at those two picks (as they did with Ginbey and Hewett). While noting pick 1 carries more value than pick 2 ... I wouldn't think it's significantly more (in a vacuum) unless someone is prepared to "overpay"
Gold Coast might be a good example of a club who would, as I'm sure they'd love a pick before Walter is bid on, who is tipped I believe for top 5?
