So with the latest noise going around ( only what I read in here) with one of our contracted players maybe to be traded for draft capital for pick 1, how about Worpel?
28 to GC for there future 2nd ( they’ll think there on the up with Hardwick and gives them points this year)
Our future 2nd and Worpel to Cats for pick 7
Pick 3 to Bulldogs for pick 10, 17 and future 1st

Gives us pick 7, 10, 17 our future 1st and Dogs future 1st

Once Nth get Pick 3 for McKay we have no chance to get Pick 1. Nth will offer 2 and their Future 1 and then that's a wrap.

We need to go hard for Gold Coasts pick 4 now that Chol has nominated us;

4th Hypothetical

D'Ambrosio and 68 for our F4
Brockman and 57 to WCE for Pick 39
Frost to NM for 60
Kossie to Tiges for 45

Our Future 1, 30,39 and 45 to GC for 4 and Chol and 57, 61 and 66

Pick 49 for a young key defender (Borlase from Crows?)..

Nth will get Reid with Pick, WCE Curtain and McKercher you would think which leaves

Use our Pick 3 - Duursma
Use Pick 4 - Watson
And take bid on McCabe with Picks 60,61,66,68

Have F2,F3 for next year
So the suns trade is a 3 way with eagles as you have is trading them 57 which we don’t have for 39. Like a lot of it but wouldn’t bother with the frost and Borlase pieces. Also suns trade of picks difference is pick 9, I value chol at about 39 which means we are giving suns equivalent of pick 16 it’s too much. Keep 45 and that’s closer to the mark.

Worpel would be the one 'established player' that I would be open to trading, especially if it lead to Bailey Smith coming in.

Add a F1 and the deal gets done for pick 1

WCE need a name to put bums on seats, a talent, an excitement machine, and as much as people like CJ here at Hawthorn - Scrimmers gets the nod all day long in the back 6 based on what I've seen.

Plus WCE may feel they have a shot at the younger brother then as well in the draft

It has to be a deal that both clubs 'win' and if Hawthorn want Reid then WCE will need to get something more than Brockman + picks.

As for Chol - I posted before about his pro's and cons:

I'll repeat it here:

"You gotta feel a little bit for Chol.

Left Richmond after not being supported in 'grope-gate' and really, Dimma wasn't a fan.

Goes north to be closer to family (and probably GC the best suitor even on about $450K per year) - and then finds out that his new coach is.......Dimma.

All the talent in the world, but allowed too much latitude by Dew regarding fitness / weight / training (the irony is not lost on me I assure you) - and finds himself in the VFL again, with a new coach who doesn't rate him.

Nor did Steven King.

BUT - always a but at trade time - Chol booted 44 goals when he was half fit and carrying 7-8 kg of excess weight.

He has all the talent in the world, but coach after coach let him get away with poor training and still gave him game time - and a club gave him a salary that 99% of Australians would love.

He will find a home somewhere - the exit interviews are done at GC - so the 'gettable' talk probably has some legs.

He's only 26 - but he's under contract until 2025.

If he goes that leaves a busted up Levi, and Chris Burgess as back-up to Ben King, who still hasn't extended - Jed Walter has a massive task on his hands to step up pretty much from day one.

Get Chol fit, motivated, and fully bought into a clubs philosophy - there's a 60 - 70 goal FF right there.

Hardwick, Dew and King have failed in that - can Sam Mitchell be the one that does, or do Hawthorn wait to see how GCS perform in 2024 - because that's 100% what Ben King will base his decision on.

If SM does think he can unlock Chol - and you are letting Kosi go - then there is a spot, regardless of the very real possibility of Ben King in 2024.

Lewis, Chol and Ryan / DGB would be very potent - and Chol could do the Kosi 'ruck' role much better.

But Chol has to buy in,and change his mindset - and I'm not too sure he really wants to at GC.

Him moving on does suit GCS - getting enough points from a Chol trade frees up Pick 4 for other uses.

Maybe a club with a better culture will have more luck with Chol. It's all about risk / reward I guess"

Mabior Chol, fully fit and motivated will kick you 50+ goals with the delivery from your quality mids. Great pickup for Hawthorn.

Especially if a reid led midfield shoots up the rankings

Mega Trade idea to help try & get Pick 1.

Hawks:
In: Pick 1, Chol
Out: Pick 4, Future 1st, Brockman

North
In: Pick 4, Pick 5, Haynes
Out: Pick 2, Pick 14

Eagles:
In: Pick 2, Pick 6, Brockman
Out: Pick 1, Pick 20

GWS:
In: Pick 14
Out: Pick 6, Haynes

Suns:
In: Pick 20, Hawks F1st
Out: Chol, Pick 5

- North get Pick 3, 4 & 5 and Haynes a stop gap defender, via a salary dump

3, 4 & 5 would net you McKercher, Sanders & Duursma/Watson

- Eagles get Pick 2 & Curtin plus Pick 6 (either Duursma/Watson) & Brockman

- Suns can make up the difference with points for trading Sharp, Hollands etc. They'll get a top 6 Pick next year from us, which is more attractive than anything this year (picks wise)

- GWS get decent compo for freeing Haynes off their books via salary dumo and can get a solid KPD with a Pick around the mid teens.

- Hawks Get Harley Reid, Chol & will get McCabe to develop over the next few seasons, as McCabe is still quite lean.

IMO if we are to successfully trade up to pick 1 it will most likely be a complex deal that not only involves first round picks but potentially players and the involvement of multiple clubs

I’m not sure North will go hard for Reid

Curtain is their motivation - I don’t think we would need all of this for them to agree.
We should just say to Eagles that we will take Curtain with pick 3. Then just say nothing for few days ( then just go to sleep). Given North just bluffing Eagles will have to trade for our 3 or use pick 1 to take him.

Love the thought you have put into this and all the other ones that get put up but getting 5 clubs to all agree is a 1% chance.

Watching clubs haggle for two weeks over pick 45 vs 38 for a player is comical.

I guess these people have to justify their jobs but gee whiz they make things hard:

The AFL even had to bring in a points system to help these novices not rip themselves off.

Poor man’s kane cornes

Kane had much the same stance, but deftly turned tack and joined the group laughing at barrett
Is there anyone who doesn't laugh at him?

I've yet to read/hear a coherent argument from him on any football matter, let alone Hawthorn-related ones.

I wonder what Norf fans make of him. Wouldn't be surprised if the saner ones are embarrassed that he supports their club.

The only argument he wins every week is the one he has with the security guard at the studio where he convinces the guard that he is still employed.
