There was a bit of play where sincs was on the boundary and i cant remember who but they tapped it to him and him centred it to cordy
after the goal you could see gresh yelling out to him and ross (i think) when they all got to cordy and then started joggin back to the centre
i noticed gresh was right next to cordy and have a feeling he thinks he shouldve got the ball
sincs just jogged back to the centre saying nothing

i havent rated him that much since that performance up fwd against geelong years ago
he looked lighter and fitter adn could sniff a goal
he might win clearance if he goes into the middle every now and then ill agree

he has some small currency (late first if we are lucky)
i would let him go

but then again, i would trade membrey as well
again, he has currency

He looks very Mason Wood like to me. At his age you are only getting a glimpse so have to project a fair bit. Loves a gaol like Wood and can run the wings and a decent size.

Have a look at the goals he kicks too, real snap freaks like Woody.

We may very well end up with a late first round pick, but even so I would still back our recruiters in to get a very good kid.

Bergman was a pick #14 selection - Port would want the same with an extra late pick thrown in. He plays on a wing or half back and its not a major list need at this time. If we could grab him as a FA it would make sense but otherwise not. If you look at Port's recent trading history they are not the easiest to work with.

If we are to give up early draft selections it would be smarter to target immediate list needs.

I wonder if James Gallagher is sitting back feeling a little hard done by right now?

Does anyone know what he's up to these days and if he found another job in footy?

Is he a restricted FA? Essendon would be crazy to let him go and while they are playing well I doubt he asks to leave. Realistically sides needed to go after him while he was still developing and Essendon were s**t.
Doubt Parish leaves Essendon..Harry Himmelberg or Ben McKay should be targets!

Funny I was only thinking of him (Gallagher) this morning when posting. I thought he handled himself very professionally in any media he did and appeared to have a good grasp on his role. Its marvellous how much a competent senior coach affects an entire football club. All the so called AFL experts and club pundits were suggesting we had (Gallagher) had stuffed the list rebuild last year.

As it has transpired Gallagher looks like he had done a pretty decent job with turning the list around. I understand some concerns were raised during the review, but in hindsight I wonder if Bassatt & Lethlean should have kept him on? I just dont have complete faith in SOS after what he did at Carlton and GWS before that, thankfully Gubby Allan will have as much input in the list management decisions.

Spuds like Jack Higgins
Sure but we have the players now. The team is pretty well built. We need to keep bringing in fresh high end talent. I do not see how parish or McKay are required and we’d need to make space in a team for them which is playing well and going to struggle to fit in our young talent soon enough. Unless it’s for the absolute elite game changers in the comp I disagree with targeting players that will disrupt our balance, development and salary cap.

I just can't understand how bringing in a young player from another club is so different to taking that pick to the draft and bringing in a young player?

If you think you can find a better player with that pick in a trade then you would in the draft then you'd be silly not to do it

The chances of landing a gun at pick 30 is always going to be small

How will adding talent disrupt our balance and development?

If they come cheap no worries. But what talented player is going to be traded for say a pick 18? if they are so talented, the price tag is huge and the expectation is a guarenteed place in the side then yeah it’s gonna disrupt the team. We need to start developing a system of bringing in draft picks, getting the best out of them and keep that flowing every year. Then if our talented players want to leave we can maximise our trade value for them.
Teams like geelong are great at this.

We have a lot of SC, we are looking at FA's. Don't know about trades, but we have still yet to see three of our 4 dp's from last year.

We won't just have pick 18, plenty of players OOC, RTB's system is making GOP's look a lot better.
Gringo mentioned in a post we could get high 2nds for a whole bunch of players we thought had little value.
Pick 29 for Long will be the norm more than an outlier.
We may have a lot of trading power.

We gave up less for both Steele and Higgins

Geelong bring in traded players every year?

I think we just need to find a good mix if drafting and trading. No need to give up on one or the other. I think that's what we will look to do.

He's a guy who is easy to dislike but we'd be crazy not to look at any decent player who is out there. He's wanting inside mid time and he looks like the type that could do well there. He's always played well against us.
I wouldn't be dropping any of our current mids for him and with Owens Poo and Windy going into the midfield when they are ready there is no need at all for a player like Harmes. Prefer to draft a kid who we can develop ourselves that has more potential than a average player like Harmes.

If we just want a free hit top up mid Matt Crouch make sense. Play him until a the kids are ready and a FA who wouldn't be on huge money. He'd have a similar impact to Mitchell at Collingwood IMO. Otherwise I rate Rhys Mathieson as the best player outside a best 22 at the moment. I reckon he'd be a great Ross Lyon project.

James Jordan is young and on the free agents list. I thought he looked alright in the only game I remember seeing him in.
Common mate. All the young guys at Adelaide have gone past him and all our kids are more worthy of spots in our midfield. Just taking a mid spot off one of our young guns. No way.
