Everyone knocks him.

But if we had a list manager land Weitering Curnow McKay Walsh we would be thrilled.

In essence we adore Beveridge. But then he traded for Barry Brooks, took Fergus watts, reached in Brad Howard etc.

Apparently ****ed Jo the Judd / X Clarke scenario In the pomp of our list under GT.

I think SOS is better than the wrap he gets. But that’s my opinion.

Im sorry Stavro but I completely disagree. Firstly Stocker was training with us for a month before SOS arrived and if anyone should be credited for spotting Caminiti its Carlton's current recruitment team who signed him to the VFL team.

SOS has sold the farm on numerous occasions to bring in players to Carlton and keep them at GWS. Williams was a FA but 900k per year for 6 years was ridiculous for a flanker. Another was the Marchbank trade disaster -

"The Blues bolstered their developing list by snaring Greater Western Sydney key defender Caleb Marchbank, small forward Jarrod Pickett and, in a separate deal, experienced mid-sized forward Rhys Palmer. Remarkably, the Blues secured 122-gamer Palmer with round-eight draft pick No.135 in November's NAB AFL Draft. The Blues claimed youngsters Marchbank and Pickett, along with the Giants' 2017 second-round selection, in exchange for picks No.45 and 58, and their 2017 first-round pick."

His list of failures goes on an on and to make matters worse he repeated the same flawed decisions at both clubs. So to suggest he got a couple right from the miriads of early draft picks and trades he had whilst he was at both clubs is really disingenious. Who was in charge of the list when GWS TPP blew out and they kept losing players year after year. His list management, drafting and trading history simply doesnt stack up.

I was happy to give him the benefit of the doubt with Gubby Allan looking over his shoulder, but when I read that he rates Tom de Koning and is looking to bring him across tells me he hasnt learnt a bloody thing. He simply should not be allowed to be involved in assessing players he has previously been involved with, he cant remain objective.

Marchbank was going pretty well, just injury prone

Just wait until you read that alot of other clubs are interested in him as well! Are they equally as silly???

That's a pretty poor take tbh, and who is to say that under different coaches those Carlton selections couldn't have worked out better? First round players and a second round pick for a late first and 2 nothing picks sounds like not a bad ploy to me on trade day.

Yep ... pretty sure Stocker was in talks with us well before SOS came onboard

Exactly Ross called stocker to see if he was interested in another shot and if he could fully invest.
Was before Sos come aboard
SOS recommended Stocker to Ross.

Ross made the call.

How about straight swap Himmelberg for Gresham?

Gresham is an artist, you could say his contribution in the 3rd quarter broke the game against the Blues wide open. If he wanted to leave I'd be OK with it, provided we had another canny small forward to replace him coming through.

A few of our our boys are in the age where we should really start planning for replacements in the next few years:

Ross, Webster, Hill, Wood, & Crouch all 29.
Membrey, Sinclair, & Jones all 28.
Billings, Marshall, Steele, Wilkie, & Howard all 27.
Butler, Cordy & Hayes all 26.

Next 2-3 years should see a few changes.

Two of those were obvious first picks in the draft. I'm not sure how you could stuff that up?

The draft they got Curnow and McKay is definitely something he can hang his hat on, no doubt.

Outside of that has made a heap of * ups in the first round.

SPS, Paddy Dow, Lachie O'Brien, Brodie Kemp all taken with high picks

10 or so average Giants players brought across not to mention big contracts for players like Williams and McGovern

Not everything he has touched has turned to s**t but he's hardly someone who leaves you thinking you can completely trust their judgement

DoKoning would have to come cheap for me.to be on board
Keeping in mind the Blues are notorious for poor player development

really.. a st. kilda fan who is not sure how you could stuff up an obvious first pick in a draft?
The only way is to be 100% incompetent, which Trout proved to be and rightfully got the arse (later than he should have).

I'm not putting him in the same category as Trout, but I'd hardly rave about taking those two obvious selections after finishing on the bottom of the ladder. They were always going at pick one.

I think a lot of our good work will be undone if we lose Clark and Gresh. If you bring in talent but lose it at the same time are you really ahead.

Really want Clark signed asap.
If we had a choice of Clark or Gres, I would like to keep Clark. Still think he hasn't reached his potential and is just getting there, while I feel Gres has reached his top.

Steele, Crouch and Ross are a solid, workhorse like inside midfield unit.

The unconventional approaches from Gresham and Clark in particular, give us a really good point of difference and makes our midfield look a little less one dimensional.

We will only lose these blokes if they want to chase money. Fully trust the club to know at exactly what price they become a liability instead of an asset.

Clark seems to really be enjoying his footy. He wanted to go to North after we tried to force him out. I think RL values him and I think Clark would recognise this, would be surprised if he left.

Gresham would have been overpaid his entire career to date, but I don't get the feeling this will make him more willing to take a haircut (could be completely wrong). Wouldn't mind offering him a contract that has the potential to be as lucrative, but with significant performance bonuses (games played, making AA squad etc.).

I reckon Gresham is at about 50% of last years output and before injury was going really well. He's 25 and missed out on at least 2 seasons of consistency because of injury. I reckon he's still one of our few star quality players if he gets going. Gresham is 1 year older than Clark and was already a very established player at 22. Not sure how one is fully formed and one is just scratching the surface.

SAINTS KEEN TO SIGN YOUNG GUN

ST KILDA young gun Mattaes Phillipou is loving his time at the Saints and will get through more of the season before looking at extending his deal, with the club keen to lock him in.

Clubs are quick to offer their early draft selections two-year contract extensions on top of their initial standard two-year deal upon entering the competition.
