Port don't even have a first rounder to throw in to try to even that upIf you want something good you need to give up something good.
Miles Bergman is a Sandy boy who is flying at Port.
Out of contarct at year end, would Marshall or SA Wanageneem-Milera be a far trade.
How long have we needed high end quality mids. Here’s food for thought, I’ve always been against paying overs for established players and hitting the draft. Until recently that hasn‘t worked that well, would we have been better of to have paid the two firsts price and got a gun mid.
Should our real target at the GC be Anderson ?.
Isn't this his third and final year of his contract? If so, wonder if he will get another one.
How many premiership sides have had a genuinely elite ruck over the last 10 years?
Plenty of worse rucks have won flags than him in that time. We have an average midfield and have for some time.
Im guessing not dal santoWho falls into the category of "heart and soul players"?
Doubt he gets another contract. I think it will be very much like Luke Dunstan where both player and club agrees it's best for him to leave.Isn't this his third and final year of his contract? If so, wonder if he will get another one.
True, in the old world they would have both been untouchable to other clubs. The new world however is ruthless and cut throat. The trade wars have begun, and one of them could easily be used as a sacrifice and or bait. You simply do not trade out heart & soul players like Membrey & Marshall.
Nar. 30+What pick do we realistically think we would get for membrey?
Mid to late 20s?
Same as whatever we got for Bruce. Membrey is a better player, but I reckon it would be around the same mark. What pick do we realistically think we would get for membrey?

I’m all in for the draft and maybe some future second round smokies, like how Steele came to us.
But…. I was thinking if we threw the cards in the air and rebuilt the midfield, is there a premiership midfield there??
Is Marshal Steele Owans and Sincs good enough?? (With support from others obviously)
We have as many draft picks as we have vacant list spots at the time the draft is held.Having deleted the incorrect ones and the ones that will definitely stay:
1. Nicholas Coffield -
3. Zak Jones -
4. Jade Gresham (RFA) -
6. Sebastian Ross (UFA) -
11. Hunter Clark -
13. Ryan Byrnes -
23. Jack Bytel -
27. Oscar Adams -
29. Jimmy Webster (UFA)
34. Tom Highmore -
36. Daniel McKenzie (RFA) -
37. Leo Connolly -
38. Tom Campbell -
41. Angus McLennan (CAT B) -
45. Jack Peris (CAT B) -
It's worth remembering that you also need to replace those lost. We have 3 draft picks ATM.
I don't want to lose Membrey either. I think he's been a very solid contributor, and has form over several years, but you just never know when a new coaching and recruitment group comes in. There's usually a few flies in the ointment, and some eyebrow raising decisions. As for the Bruce deal, I similarly thought we were royally screwed. I thought we'd get a late first for him...a regular 40+ goal kicking forward and tall target. They don't grow on trees. I forget what the return was, but I was very surprised. I know we got Jones or whatever out of it...but it wasn't a good deal, and definitely hasn't worked out the way we'd hoped.I think we got dome on that deal and you'd hope that he'd get us more than Bruce did. Perhaps a pick between 20 to 30. He's a reliable 40+ goal physically resilient player. We'd be stupid to move him on if we got less than a high pick. We need him firing not sacking him.
You rarely get better by losing your better players. Even a pick just gives you a ticket in a lottery that might help in a few years if you're lucky.
I can't wait to get a look at the stallions we take with picks 77, 78, 79, 80, 81 & 82.We have as many draft picks as we have vacant list spots at the time the draft is held.
But been a total waste on the Dogs side tooI don't want to lose Membrey either. The silky inside/outside mid we need isn’t on our list, it’s that simple. It would be great to have one but I think we have more pieces or potential pieces than some think. Windhager needs to play and he’s perfect for getting the ball moving our way. Owens and the pou will both spend time in the midfield and Byrnes also has the skill set to play there. I don’t think we’ve been smashed in the clearances it’s more that we’ve turned the ball over or done nothing with it. Ross and a couple of others have been playing some really lousy football, you have to love the over the shoulder handball to no one rather than take the first option or a tackle. You really only need one absolute star quality mid and a second that is around Steele or Crouch level and some depth support and rotations. If Clark, Windhager, Phillipou, Owens, Hotton or even Sinclair could become a gun mid we are right. Perhaps if Coffield ever makes it back we could try him on ball.
I would chase some depth and maybe a bargain priced player who is behind others with development left like how we got Steele.
I might be in the minority here, but I think Hunter has the potential to be that mid we need. If you look at all the goals we've kicked in the past month, you'll notice that him and Pou have both had a fair hand in most of those goals. He's currently sitting at 33% CBA, yet he's 4th on our list for clearances. I reckon he's primed to have a massive back half of the season if we give him the keys to the city. The silky inside/outside mid we need isn’t on our list, it’s that simple. So a fit Steele, crouch and then a mixture of players rotating through really isn’t that bad, some 5 minute bursts from Sinclair and Gresham adds a different look as well. Anyway I’d love a gun mid but it’s a get in line situation, who wouldn’t. I’d love to have a full list available it would be very interesting to see how some of these guys are rated.
Marshall keep Membrey can goYou simply do not trade out heart & soul players like Membrey & Marshall.
Hopefully Lyon looks at the potential these kids have and starts introducing them into there a bit more. We saw it happen early but we seem to have gone away from that over the last few weeks and have gone back to backing the older brigade.
