This discussion kinda goes to a question I’ve got.

How would we feel as supporters is we played the kids in the midfield and because of this we missed final?

I’m personally fine with it as long as we’re hitting the draft.

I'd rather play finals to be honest. Still hit the draft but keep the momentum and positivity going to attract players in.

Ideally you try to find a mix between developing them in there and winning.

Are we actually any less chance of winning if we play Owens or Windhager through there instead of Seb Ross though? I don't think so.

To answer your question, I'm not sure. I think just playing finals with kids in tthe side is going to be beneficial for them no matter what position, but I just don't see having them in there a bit more than we are will have a negative impact.

Ideally, I'd like to aim for a 2 senior mids and 1 younger mid set up. It would give us development and get some different players through there while still having the proven experience around the ball.

I think Owans plays as a mid the rest of the year, is that enough?? Clark has played mid for his development.

Reflecting as I’m typing, maybe we are/will be doing enough in terms of mid development but just watching ross and crouch around the ball makes it all look gross.

I’d personally be happy to lose playing a Bytel, windy, Owans and pou if that’s what’s best for development.

Haven't seen a lot of him but surely Robertson from Brisbane is worth pushing for. 21 tackles in the VFL this week....

He looked amazing in his draft year. I'd love to chase him. They are stacked for mids and most of those guys need to leave for regular games.

Have we totally given up on Highmore? Did some nice things in 21 can mean we push Sincs in the middle
Coffield back hopefully soon will free Sincs up for more time in the midfield.

Mids, mids, mids.
If we use good draft picks on the likes of Bergman, TDK or heaven forbid JSOS, I’ll just…

well I don’t know exactly what I’ll do but I’ll be mightily p***d off.

Still open to look at Dow for next to nothing, because of what we’ve got from Stocker. A high draft pick, you never know if he could still come good, but at the very least we could have some depth.

I hope we don't let Gresham go for a s**t pick regardless but I think that the going rate will be a FRDP no matter what we all think he's worth. He's a better player than the stats look on paper.

Always annoys me highlight packages. Looking at a half back flanker and all the highlights are his goals…it gives u nothing on how he plays, if it’s a fwd that’s fine

God I hope we aren't chasing King, the midfield is the absolute priority and King is a luxury that is so far away from a missing piece. We need to start chasing Noah Anderson or Flynn Callaghan types more than another KPF. We couldn't get the ball anywhere near our forwards. We have a heap of fire power at the moment but can't find any one to get it to them.

Jackson Hately
Darcy Parish
Brodie Kemp
Deven Robertson
Rhys Mathieson
Jeremy Sharp
Sam Flanders
Lachie Ash
Matthew Flynn
Xavier O'Halloran
Miller Bergman
Miles Bergman
Sam Hayes

All out of contract and should have a look at.
Ben king would have been handy in the last 10min when Caminity got out marked 100 times..

We missed Clark in the midfield on Saturday.
His hands in close are underrated. Far superior to Steele and Ross

Sicily would have out marked anyone when he was allowed to constantly push Hammer in the back and force him under the ball. What Sicily got away with was some of the worst umpiring I have seen this year. I cant believe our captain and leaders didnt highlight the rubbish or at least put some physical heat on him.

All the supposed best intercept defenders in the game including Wilkie get away with forcing the forwards under the fall of the ball. I can understand they need to be able to make a contest but the adjudication of the rule has gone too far one way IMO. Any hands in the back above the hips should be a free kick to the player playing in front in my mind.

Just to remind people that Owens was training with the midfield group pre season until injuries meant he was shifted into the forward/ruck role.

Windy broke his hand just before the start of the season and then spent the next few games as a sub so he struggled to get game time let alone midfield minutes.

I expect that both of those players will be in line to spend genuine time in the midfield after the bye.

He had a stinker but he's been pretty good this year. If his value plummets he's probably more likely to end up at Moorabin. Using first round pick would have been dumb management. If you got him for a pick in the 30s you'd be pretty happy to take a roll of the dice on him.

James Jordan is an unrestricted free agent.

22 year old mid that constantly seems to be given the sub role at Melbourne.

He looks okay but hasn't had a great run in a gun midfield either. Worth a look. Fiding some of these guys sitting just off the pack is a way we might actually get asme precede talent in to a spartan midfield. Dev Robertson looks like the pick of them to me and most likely club to shake some loose from. They have so many coming through that must be feeling like games are a long way off.
