Amon still fits that bill imo- and would come cheap trade wise... and would be available you would expect now the hawks have decided to go full tank mode.

He makes excellent sense as a nas replacement target for just about every possible reason i reckon
Why would Hawthorn trade someone they just spent big money on as a FA after one year?

They had already put tank mode in motion when they brought him in so it's not like much has changed in that regard.

If NAS nominates Port they have a number of players I’d be keen on. Rozee & Butters close to untouchable, Kane Farrell a little more realistic. Not sure of his contract status though. I hope our recruiters are putting serious work into those three.

On the contrary- ditching the likes of mitchell, omera, gunston since has shown they are fully prepared to go virtually winless etc and start from the very bottom of a deep rebuild.

No way was a rebuild that deep on the cards when they were sweet talking amon while he was in his last year at port 2+ years ago.

Hawks would have sold him a dream based on getting back to challenging for finals and flags before he was 30.... and he's 28 in august this year.

They knew Gunston was leaving and has informed the other 2 they were available for a bag of chips.

Amon knew what he was signing up for.

I know its only one game but i watched Bergman today and he reminds me so much Allison , runs up and down the ground and doesn't get involved , if that's how he normally plays its a big no from me

Looked good last week and shit this week. Probably helped that the rest of the side was performing a week ago.

The info I here is positive regarding Nas..I, along with several others in our group, have been to a lot of training sessions & there is zero indication he’s unhappy.
Guess we’ll wait and see!!
Well I guess he wouldnt look unhappy whilst training and playing - but there is plenty time outside these where he could be homesick.

Really hope he stays though.

Ben King looks a shadow of his former self since returning

Reckon we should offer up a future first for GC to cut their losses with him

Is there room for Hammer and two Kings in the forward line

Yeah.
Especially with marshall suited to being a solo ruck.

Max showed under ratten that he was pretty handy taking the ruckwork inside f50. (Ala hawkins).

Max taking the i50 ruckwork would give roma the rest he would need to be able to stay onfield basically all game.
Therefore we wouldn't need a ruck/fwd chopout guy at all in the team.

Having 2 kings (who are mobile big guys) would be far better overall than carrying a chopout ruck/fwd type like cordy + max.

Yep, especially post Membrey

Yeah.

Depends whether we pick up De Koning I s’pose 🤔

Not with Membrey, they would be fighting for the last spot IMO

It’s a massive ask for anyone to play ruck for a full game every week, even if he doesn’t have to take the forward 50 rucks.

It’s a great way to burn out a player IMO

If we managed to get Ben King though there’s no reason he can’t go into the ruck for 5 minutes a qtr so I agree there would be no need for a Cordy or Hayes

Why would we be happy with Ben King chopping out in the ruck but not his brother?

Ben being a more mobile type that gets up and down the ground to get the footy would be better suited than Max.

It would leave Max to play deep forward which is also his strength.

I don't think he's more mobile.

Ben takes more marks on the lead but between the two of them, Max has always won much more of the footy around the ground and pushed up the wings higher.

Ben has always relied on his running to find space to get the footy. Most of his marks are from out working his opponent and taking uncontested marks where as Max will prefer to take contested marks

Both have a fairly similar percentage for marks taken outside 50. Ben is 45% and Max is 41%

Ben hasn’t moved too far from the goal square this year but he is returning from a knee. He looked to be covering more ground than Max in 2021, but that is obviously just going off the eye test, maybe I’m wrong

I’ve always thought Ben was better on the ground and Max better in the air. Splitting hairs though they’ll both be superstars.

I checked with my Mrs. and she said she’d do either of them in either position for what it’s worth. So you’re right; splitting hairs.
