Came in for the Henry chatter, stayed for the fishing tips 🤣
Seriously though, has there been any consensus on his likely draft price? Please excuse my intrusion, I come in peace!

I feel a pick in the 20s seems about right. What you paid for Hill. It gives him a value rated on potential but if he busts there isn't too much spent. Seems the right balance to me.

He has managed to reach 20 touches just twice in the VFL.

I watched some packages and he has slippery hands. Seems to drop every touch and has to go back and work extra hard to win the ball back or tackle. He seems like a young DMac with less skills maybe a bit of Geary. Has a big heart but putrid ball handling. Real supplementary list special IMO. Could have something but really speculative.

Haha I don't want Dow to do a back flip and decide not to join us. So maybe let's keep it quiet about the jacking off.

He might like that and rush to sign on. He kind of looks like hillbilly so that might be his bag.

If we are removing the amount of players from the list as rumoured, we will need to do both.

You can't replace 10 players with mainly 18 year old from the draft and expect to be competitive in the years to come. We still need mature bodies ready to play when injuries occur.

And filling the last spots on the list with depth types doesn't stop us from developing multiple kids from this years draft.

I'd be inquiring about Peter Ladhams can be a space cadet but worth being on a list has gone backwards at Sydney.

See the value in Goldy - no doubt. Plenty he can teach our rucks and could mentor Moose.
Question is will they play him?
Seems like that is a big issue.
A lot of the above posts hit on lots of really relevant points.

To hit the draft, we need to maximise the picks we have - so that rules out trading the players mentioned to death and then blowing that currency on the likes of Ladhams or Soldo at Richmond etc. they won’t be cheap and we need those potential second rounders.

Of course those players would improve the list. But it defeats the purpose of aiming to hit the draft which is now the stated aim.

Bummmhurt is also right about how we go rounding out the list. Which is why are looking to go the method of taking talented players who have bottomed out in their value or close to the end.

Dow - highly talented. Next to no value
Jordan - talented. Lost his value. Free to a good home
Henry - supremely talented. Lost his way at AFL level. Probably cost the most of all these players
Goldstein - for a year or so. Capable. Durable. Huge upgrade on Campbell.

We just won’t be trading out Howard Clark Billings etc and then recycling those picks on similar caliber players.

The ONLY exception. Is that we are in a position to buy contracts for low trade capital ala Hunter Grundy last year.

Which could happen.

Dow plus a fit Zac Jones would give us better midfield mix…fingers crossed 🤞
If they can get us moving in the mids, I would jack off both of them, however I am not sure how they would feel about a 63 y.o grandfather servicing them in such fashion.

I suppose there would be an audience somewhere in the dark recesses of Pornhub for such scintillating action though

On a macro issue, remember all picks down to 73 have points attached to them regardless of whether they are likely to be used or not to actually select a player, so collecting later picks other clubs don't want and them packaging them to a team that needs points may be a strategy worth pursuing.

So we have one genuine ruck on our list in Roma and you would rather persist with using Hayes - who isn’t a ruck and barely been on the park in the last 18 months.

Hammer - who is anything but a ruck and if asked to do it full time would struggle.

Owens - repeat as above.

And then all the rest who are saying, keep and use Tom Campbell 😂

The guy is 32 in November. Has played 2 games for us in 2 years - including none this year. Who at 3 clubs wasn’t even close to holding the #1 or #2 ruck mantle - clearly evidenced by his massive 52 games across 3 clubs and never having once played more then 9 games in a season in his 10 years.

And lastly Heath, isn’t ready and if it came to throwing him in for large runs. Would be detrimental to us and himself.

Meanwhile 35 year old Goldstein just played another 20 afl games this year to bring his career total to 315 games. Highlighting his durability and talent
Heath is 21 soon going on 22 end of next season
Can’t protect him for ever he is up to it or not

How old are Moyle and Sweet
Sweet is 25

Moyle and Heath I believe are the same age.

Worth pointing out. Moyle was further along then Heath at the point both got picked up (same mid season draft)

Moyle has only played 2 AFL games. Also more developed physically then Heath

Heath is a huge lump
Would rather games into Heath then Goldie

The ruck role is about physicality.

He might be a huge lump. But he isn’t mauling his VFL counter parts.

He is still growing and developing into that big body.

He will get bigger and stronger.

Heath could easily be another 18 months from AFL football

Yep. This worried me about SOS right from the start.

At the Blues he kept gathering Giants cast offs.
Now he’s doing the same from the Blues.

Does he know how to look further afield?
Philp looks like Ryan Byrnes brother , so that's a no from me

Saw some things from Heath at training indicating he could develop but has a way to go.
Will watch him closely this preseason. Have retired now so will get down more often.

Yep, and this time last year you were up anyone that mentioned the name Paddy Dow.

Now it seems as though if he got within 6 foot of you you’d be jerking him off with a yabbie pump.

We will be taking a few cheap options that will hopefully improve our depth. While they won’t be stars, it sounds as though the draft will only go to about pick 50 and we need to find ways to replace the players we are letting go.

Every club does it, not just us. They’re a few cheap recruits playing in the last 6 teams left in the competition that fans would have labelled list cloggers and spuds at times.
‘Suck me off with a yabbie pump’ is one of my mates favourite things to say 😂 That you Ryan? How’s my kids?
