Just got an infraction for calling Essendon fans injector fans.

When the * was that a thing?
Why the F********RK are you all trying to explain this to Essendon supporters??

Ever tried talking with someone in a cult? Its insanely frustrating, tiring and gets you nowhere.

That's Essendon. They are the cult

Stop wasting your energy. They wont believe anything you say until they either see it with their own eyes, or Hird tells them its true

Good question.

Not sure.

Kind of triggering seeing their stupidity I guess.

12 million Americans believe that lizard people control US politics.

78,000 Essendon members believe Hirdy was persecuted.

Dard shat the bed the other night.

What a time to be alive.

Reckon DoDoro has been at the planes since about 2000,
And he had no recruiting influence whatsoever on that flag.

Other than a few elim final wins with the dregs of that team, the joint hasn’t won a final in 20 years since.

Got me ****ed how this master recruiter is still in the job.

Best players he has drafted in 23 years were Ryder, Carlisle, Houli and Daniher (doesn’t take a genius to claim father/son)
They all wanted out of there.

Dodoro has been in his role at Essendon since 1998.

The 2000 Essendon team were in place when he got there.

Genuine question that no one can seem to actually understand

why are we (a) paying Gresham way overs to then even out the equation by losing Shiel and then (b) not only are we potentially going to pay some of Shiels salary, (c) we have arguably the most salary cap space in the competition.

Nothing makes sense and no matter which way you write it, it doesn't make sense if Essendon, perennially hard negotiators are just going to bend over and make a closely matched team even stronger for very little in return

I just don't get it and no one can explain not me why we're helping St.Kilda so much
Jesus 🤦

Definitely. I’m just trying to see if it was from our point of view is it stupid too.

Why would Essendon want gresh that much? We don’t even rate him here. If there was a player on essendon’s list and a free agent that they wanted gone essentially why would we want to pay full Dollar.

I reckon he stays cause he’s happy here and will settle for the medium amount we want to pay him. He’s not in demand enough to force top dollar
Some on here rate him highly, Gringo has his poster in his bedroom even

A) you're paying Gtesham what the market can bear, you're not the only club interested in him and generally to get a FA you have to pay overs.

B) most on here are happy for Essendon to keep Shiel and his 2 possessions a game, that's if he's fit enough to get on the park.

C) good, why are you complaining about paying a player to bring the,m in then?

As to why you're helping St Kilda, easy, you guys like drugs. There are lots of drugs in St Kilda. Consider it the footballing version of offering party favours for drug. The AFL has basically turned into the pro circuit in St Kilda and you campaigners can be found on Grey Street.

P.S. similar strength team? Please, we had 82 players out when we played you lot, even I started getting calls and asked tif I was available, and we still beat you, easily.

I started writing an essay, but have reeled it back in.

Would Essendon rather lose Shiel now, or lose Shiel later?

He will be 31 before the start of the next season, has been perennially injured, has shifted from his midfield role to make way for others, and is looking likely to deliver a reduced performance as a result. Is his off field contribution (role model, leader, etc.) worth the $600-900k that he is on next year?

Essendon have more than half their list out of contract next year, and I get that Shiel is only on this money for 2024 (and therefore contracts in 2025 arent affected), but if he is not part of your plans moving forward, and by all reports is shopping himself around, then what's the point of keeping him on?

They have an opportunity to be really ruthless in their TPP management, have HUGE (i.e., 6-10% of 2024 cap) room to front end players and be really proactive in their 2025 re-signings, or even remain competitive in the FA market, as a result of moving on a player who isn't a part of their future, and is taking up a large chunk of salary.

Sadly, the Essendon boys club is rife in the organisation and seeps into their supporter base. They have been entitled for a lot of their existence and this hasn't changed over the last two decades.

I don't believe they have the expertise or understanding in house to understand this strategic opportunity, and instead are still wanting to play mind games in the media to chalk up wins at the trade table, then being up-front, honest, and mature with their counterparts and become great operators.

I have no faith that this Dylan Shiel saga will eventuate, and am now seeing it firmly separate from the Gresham compo.

Saints will play both appropriately, either matching or accepting the compensation for Gresham (likely accepting, as Bombers would understand what is acceptable terms from both the Saints and Gresham's manager, unless they try and low-ball us), and taking the Shiel discussions on face value, which is the salary dump of an older player who has 1-3 years left in him, all highly unlikely to play more than 50% of those games.

For once, I'm really glad that we have SOS and Gubby to a) have the contacts and know-how to seek out these opportunities and b) to operate smartly and strategically making the right moves for our organisation and not selling our future.

You know what you’re right, if Gresham is so bad why are Essendon offering to pay him? Just don’t. Then we either get to keep him (without him acting like he’s out the door because now he knows he ain’t) or we get an end of first/second rounder for him from a club that is actually serious, you keep Shiel and we don’t have to put up with this rubbish.

Sounds like a win for us.
