You need a few deals like Dow and Henry that pay off. Acres to the Blues for a future pick that won't get used, Bobby Hill for some junk time picks, Tom Mitchell similar, even Ed Langdon for the Dees. Chase some state leaguers that out perform. Think outside the box a bit.

Melbourne and Brisbane did their bulk work at the draft then topped up. Port probably the model we are trying to replicate. Pies are unique in that they have had a very stable older generation of stars that have carried through together and then until they lucked a generational F&S, their youth list has been a bit average but then topped up hard for one last tilt and hit the lottery with Hill and Mitchell types.

You really can't make up ground with just drafting so targeted hole fillers from multiple sources is good business.
Who is that Ethan fella you always used to bang on about, a star VFL full back who got passed over in the last few drafts?

Is he still available? Would he work well in Howard's position?

Hasn't been quite as good this season but still ridiculous. Played Carlton reserves a few weeks back and off the interchange got 15 marks, 29 disposals and 113 FA score. People were against Sam Collins getting another crack when the Suns picked him up, he deserves a sup list spot for a year.

Not really, Essendon pay half. Offer a year + 1 with triggers. We pay 450k this season and if he can activate the trigger( 15 games or something) 600k and also meaning he has been a success.
If not it costs 450k for one season.

Still would rather just forget the whole thing if we can't get pick 13.

If we don't get 13 we absolutely should run away from the Shiel crap.

Everyone need to cool their jets on that article. SOS is definitely up to something. The pick 13 and shiels trade is definitely in the works. To many journos have reported on it for it not to have legs

Think you are just getting your hopes up to be honest.

Most journo's aren't even mentioning pick 13 any more.

Off season is 3 days old and the essendon hype machine is back in its regular cycle. Gresham Goldy and McKay look out! They fall for the same shit every year

95 % TPP needs to be paid.
WCE paid 5% at most less than Collingwood.
Absolute joke.

Even worse.

Collingwood paid about 600k into OTHER team's caps with the Treloar and Grundy deals.

So the Eagles may very well have paid their list more than Collingwood's!

couldnt agree more. the rules crap. it doesnt suddenly make sides more competiive cause then you just get north tanking.

The rule isn't there to keep teams competitive.

It was driven by the AFLPA to ensure teams like WCE and North couldn't lowball their players while they are shit.

Hahaha speaking of the Oliver thing. I do know of a storey liking the nose beers a little more than a professional footballer should. Maybe there is something in the trade rumour
