Yea quite possibly. But Billings and Coffield not best 22 and both being flankers not overly required players by position. I suspect Gresham’s best is behind him since he did his Achilles. He’s the one I’m most happy about leaving given we received pick 21 in the end. Billings probably goes quite cheap on the back of being a really good clubman and genuine good guy the club wants to see succeed somewhere else.
That’s accurate all three would probably have started outside our best 22 if you were picking a team now.

Billings the victim of coaches who had us running around like a bunch of headless chooks and absolutely sh*thouse development.

It's a damn shame he didn't get a run of games under Ross

Reckon he'll go well for the dees.

Think what we got for him is unders considering we're paying part of his salary.

What we got for Billings and Coffield was unders but you could argue that we got Henry and Dow for unders and they suit our needs better.

You can't expect to win every trade, you win some you lose some and they tend to even out in the end, we didn't kill it but I think we did OK.

Good trade.
Didn't want to be there
Didn't get a game
Had a large salary

SOS is all about clearing the salary cap

It sounds like we a still paying a large portion of it.
And ended up with a shit pick, that most likely won't get used to actually draft any one next year. It will handed over in some random trade.

Maybe Sos should have worked out that you are not clearing the salary cap by paying players to play elsewhere .

A Pick 3 and a pick 8 walk out the door for a packet of twisties each having significantly underachieved. Why we have struggled so much over the last decade.
They are the symptom not the cause. Disgusting drafting, lamentable development, garbage coaching, and zero leadership, team culture etc.

Really, if Ross & Co don't get this club serious, the same will happen to Pou, Owens, Nas & all the others

Looking at it I'll take billings and gresh out for Dow and Henry in
With a first and a second still on hand

Dow will be good for us
Henry is an upgrade and has more potential long term than billings

Paying some billo salary is a bit bloody rich but I'm also tipping it's to clear the coin ready for FA next year

No one was going to give anything more for him

Wish him well at the Dees but he hasn’t been best 22 for us for a couple of years now

Yeah I hear you

Still think it's unders

I think Coff is the one that is a shame but at the end of the day, I'm cool. I do worry about our ball use but am looking forward to next season big time. Will definitely be upping my membership and getting to more games.

Very happy to see Gresham gone. He did my head in this year.

someone made a good point earlier about the billings salary component. if he stayed and wasn't best 22 we paid all his salary to play at sandy. gotta think that its a move done with a degree of forward planning from list to utilise either the coin we arent paying for an upgraded deal in the next 2 years or frees a little space for a FA target.

the difference might be all of 250k over 2 years we have saved. but if that allows us to upgrade Owens, or one of the other boys that the league is going to come at when they come out of contract, or price someone out of the market with a FA bid, then I am sure we will all look back and be like Jack who.

And we replaced them with a pick 3 and a pick 9 who we also got in without sacrificing too much. Sure the drafting in the past has been bad, but we've heard that rhetoric for far too long. Its time to move on and look at what we're building, not what has been.

Seems like some people? thought we should of got a 2nd rounder for Billings?
For a Injury prone, overrated by some, 28y.o, Why?
I’d have taken the last pick in the draft if it meant we didn’t pay anything. **** I’d have taken nothing if it was possible.

Same
Coff the only one I will miss too

I mean the last game he played for us he had 15 disposals for 14 meters gained.

Not quite the numbers we were probably looking for from a bloke drafted as a distributor

Billings had a pretty terrible development and we turned him in to a neurotic mess. I remember when we trained out at Seaford watching him doing a midfield drill and he won every contest that was in his area. I thought he showed more than any of a our regular mids. No-one training him was encouraging him or even seeing it as an area to start developing him in.
