I guess without seeing the actual cap room I wouldn't be too concerned about paying part of billings given there is a salary cap floor or even the structure of the deal over the next 2 years
Not sure how true it is but it was mentioned elsewhere that most clubs have the increase for the new CBA written into their players contracts. We were one that didn’t. Could be crap but, if not, it would give us extra space next year.

Just had a Melbourne supporting employee text me and ask if I will pay him $200k to work for the opposition .

Sad times when Melbourne supporters are giving it to you.

Let him know he could walk as a free agent if he messaged me about it again.
Seriously though, if we couldn't have got even pick 42 we should have made him either see out the contract or void it and move as a free agent.

Whats with "I don't really like working here, can you pay for me to work at a competitor?"

If the club doesn't get an adequate compensation then no deal.

Our coaching has been sh*t since Ross left.

We wasted a decade

I don't blame the individual players as much as some here do.
u may have forgotten adam kingsley was with us then as midfield coach. seems to be coaching better than Ross
Billings would've left for nothing next year anyway, either on the back of another injury riddled year where his value would've been zero, or as an UFA if he managed to produce a year worthy of another clubs interest. Highly doubt we would've extended his contract for anything worth staying for.

At least a F3 pick adds to our hand, particularly with mid season trades on the horizon for season 2024.

We also have a decade long history of drafting better with s**t picks :moustache:

To go with the mccartin, Goddard, lonie - only McKenzie from that hanging by a thread.

From our 2016 list we have Members, Webster, Ross, Dmac and Sinclair left. There is a very good chance that only Sinclair is regularly playing next year.

Hunter's had a bit of a scare, he'll be hitting them hard.

SoS had a plane to catch, apparently they don't fly to Qld on a Thursday

I think the weight of expectation was too much for Billings. At the Saints he was always going to be the ****ing bloke we picked instead of Bont and he felt enormous pressure because of it.
At the Demons he's just a F3 pick. Shite outcome for us but he seems like a good kid and I wish him the best of luck

Looking forward to seeing what RTB can achieve with our new recruits and what the draft brings our way.

Not crap, stav put up an article stating Essendon had done the same and St.Kilda had followed suit.

Rumour is that we might not get Dylan Shiel done in time

Billings isn’t a young player that still has potential to hit new levels. He’s 28 turning 29 towards the backend of next season and his body has broken down over the last two years. If I was a Melbourne supporter and I paid anymore than pick 50 and some of Billings salary wasnt paid for by his exiting club I’d be livid. He’s closer to being the next Hanneberry not Lachie Neal. We do overrate our players
