still paying for treloar aswell. Won this years premiershipCould be worse… Collingwood are paying a bloke to play at 2 different clubs…
Not sure how true it is but it was mentioned elsewhere that most clubs have the increase for the new CBA written into their players contracts. We were one that didn’t. Could be crap but, if not, it would give us extra space next year.I guess without seeing the actual cap room I wouldn't be too concerned about paying part of billings given there is a salary cap floor or even the structure of the deal over the next 2 years
Seriously though, if we couldn't have got even pick 42 we should have made him either see out the contract or void it and move as a free agent.Just had a Melbourne supporting employee text me and ask if I will pay him $200k to work for the opposition .
Sad times when Melbourne supporters are giving it to you.
Let him know he could walk as a free agent if he messaged me about it again.
u may have forgotten adam kingsley was with us then as midfield coach. seems to be coaching better than RossOur coaching has been sh*t since Ross left.
We wasted a decade
I don't blame the individual players as much as some here do.
Billings would've left for nothing next year anyway, either on the back of another injury riddled year where his value would've been zero, or as an UFA if he managed to produce a year worthy of another clubs interest. Highly doubt we would've extended his contract for anything worth staying for.
At least a F3 pick adds to our hand, particularly with mid season trades on the horizon for season 2024.
We also have a decade long history of drafting better with s**t picks

To go with the mccartin, Goddard, lonie - only McKenzie from that hanging by a thread.
They may have had a sniff, but nothing too serious I believeThe idea no one wanted him last time is something made up on this board.
He had offers from at least Port and Sydney but decided to stay.
As the smoke clears and screams die out, Hunter Clark and Ben Paton slowly rise out of the bushes and, exchanging relieved looks, creep ever forward.
SoS had a plane to catch, apparently they don't fly to Qld on a ThursdaySeriously though, if we couldn't have got even pick 42 we should have made him either see out the contract or void it and move as a free agent.
Whats with "I don't really like working here, can you pay for me to work at a competitor?"
If the club doesn't get an adequate compensation then no deal.
From our 2016 list we have Members, Webster, Ross, Dmac and Sinclair left. There is a very good chance that only Sinclair is regularly playing next year.
Farewell Trade thread 2023z. My favourite part was the Essendon fans

Not crap, stav put up an article stating Essendon had done the same and St.Kilda had followed suit. Not sure how true it is but it was mentioned elsewhere that most clubs have the increase for the new CBA written into their players contracts. I don't really understand why we need both he and SOS.WTF is Gumby Allan’s role exactly? Man, what a waste of space that geeza is.
Sydney weren't keen to trade their pick for some reason.Did we trade pick 12 for Shiel yet? Or did we need more to satisfy Essendon?
Been saying this for years nowWTF is Gumby Allan’s role exactly? Man, what a waste of space that geeza is.

Didn't you hear Damo, he's up to somethingWTF is Gumby Allan’s role exactly? Man, what a waste of space that geeza is.
Too busy organising the Jonas trade.Rumour is that we might not get Dylan Shiel done in time
