You really are bored aren't you

Indeed. I just feel this is a pretty rare opportunity to get to pick our favourite player in a draft excluding the kid who goes pick 1.

It's rare you're sitting at 4 with a team at 2 that is open to trading down.

We could use 2xF3 for Sydney F2 as a carrot to dangle in front of North. Sydney gain 150 points for their academy kid next year.

Good write up on Langford , for people who don’t think he’s much good he was most impactful midfielder at national champs level

Led the champs with 2 score assists per game and 7.5 score involvements , and without having stats for it no other midfielder would have had his metres gained

I’ve got him 6th ranked but it’s very close and won’t be upset if we end up with him
Its not that people don't think he is good, but isn't he more of what we already have in terms of good players without real pace. Dawson, Soligo etc. What the supporter base is yearning for is a break the game apart type player. It seems Lalor is one and Draper another. FOS seems to be a very skillful player and would have his own point of difference. If we take Langford, it may be - unfairly - that he will always get compared to the players we overlooked to take him at 4 so its just added pressure.

That’s a pessimistic view

He’s not my first choice but think he’d be a mighty player for us

Not quite as concerned with our midfield speed now we have Peatling and Rankine but you’re right about short term balance

Even more reason why getting a Draper type player is the best bet as his pace from a contest added to Rankine and Peatling starts to make us look very different around the ball - better and different.

I have no idea about the poll.

There should be five choices, realistically.

Considering at least four of them are close to impossible to split, choosing to spend more draft capital to get a player that's not obviously better than what you'd get for free just sounds dumb.
They aren't impossible to split at all IMO

It all depends on what type of player you think we need to add to our mix of midfielders.

I'm in the group that think we need to add a high impact player per possession with excellent athleticism and acceleration from the contest to our mix and for that reason I rate Sam Lalor clearly above all others followed by FOS and Sid Draper.

I mean, Fischer McAsey was the best key back in his champs year too

Not saying Langford will be that level of bust at all, but it’s more about looking at the player’s qualities rather than relying on pure numbers

I'm of the belief if Lalor, FOS and Draper hadn't been inpacted by injury especially with Lalor and Draper whose injuries by type really had an impact on their preseasons they would be thought of a lot higher than they are currently. Smith, Langford, Ashcroft, Reid, Smillie and Lombard all had basically an injury free run at it.

I feel as though some haven’t properly watched Drapers highlights. Draper is one of the first players in a LONG time with the trait of explosive speed. He attacks the footy hard and takes on the game at all cost. His speed and power from stoppage is Judd/Dangerfield like. Sid Draper could become a better footballer than Horne he certainly has the tools.

I think this gives Lalor the edge to be no 1 pick as he’s blooooody good but we still don’t really no how good due to injury ( and to a lesser extent cricket )

It’s funny though as he does handball it’s more than kick so it’s a funny mix

I’m not worried about his over hand balling. His handballs 90% of the time are line breaking or made so he can get a one two and move forward. But I do agree with you. But it’s such an easy fix. Will be great watching him win a clearance and slot a goal from 50

During his SANFL games it looked as though he tried to balance that out a bit. Maybe the kid knows his limitations at this point perhaps ??

Id love to see him kick more.
From what i’ve seen he sometimes runs to far with the footy and gets himself into a situation where he has to quickly handball it instead of kicking it.

Hard not to feel theabove is correct but ORR was passing on direct information by a South coach who had seemingly coached both. People can have different views but that’s pretty decent first hand feedback from people that really count so think deserves respect. Then I see the better stats by Draper in SANFL

That said, have been saying all year JHf will win a Brownlow
Drapers speed and hunger is greater than Hornes. Yes Horne will be a better two pos player but Draper will be the better mid.

No its a fault in his game that if he doesnt get under control could derail his career , look at stephenson got ahead of himself and now at 25 his career is over. Most kids nowdays it gets too hard and the give up thats a fact of todays society they dont have the mental fortitude to fight thru adversity , tell me im wrong ?

Do you think that players didn't retire early in the 80's or 90's

It’s definitely a fair viewpoint. As long as the injury issues don’t turn out to be recurring

Speaks volumes that all of them are in discussions for the first tier of picks despite injury holding them back

I see Draper as a smaller Dangerfield/Warner type. He possesses such explosive speed.
I don't and I really rate Draper highly (apart from his kicking he ticks all boxes).
As Danger in Texas posted some time ago I think the topline mid his game resembles most is Treloar right down to the inconsistent kicking.
