There's zero doubt that the list management group are happy with where the list is at. Added some missing pieces and we are contending. We saw us as contending before adding the 3 walk up starters to half forward, half back and midfield.
Aren't you?

Other than ruck stocks into the future I don't think there's too many holes in our list and some pretty reasonable depth. Peatling, Cumming and ANB certainly strengthens our list. Other than a developing ruck and perhaps another decent young small forward for the future allowing Rankine and Rachele more to concentrate on midfield where else do you see us needing to strengthen through this draft with the picks we originally held?

We really just need to get the best out of what we already have, that's down to the coach and his assistants.

I think we have a Finals contending list with our additions already plus pick 4 and Welsh?

Our midfield is still under-strength. Our current players might improve so that it’s no longer a problem, but as it stands we need more A graders and we can’t be confident they are already on the list.

Same goes for for attacking half backs.

Pick 4 is the best way for us to get that elite midfielder. The only holes we have are a-grade holes. We are well stocked for b- and c-grade players.

And need ruck support.

I think will do better than we think.

Rankine could be anything next year with a full season ps as a mid.
Crouch the extractor.
Dawson is only entering his prime and still learning his mid craft. He could well be a top 5 player in the league.
Followed by short bursts of soligo and peatling.

Oscar Ryan looks the goods to me and we will no doubt bring in a top end midfield talent through the draft in a month's time. Peatling and a fit Rankine will make our midfield much better without even allowing that Edwards, Taylor and Dowling will likely be pushing for spots at some point in 2025.

Soligo and Peatling will be utilised far far more than short bursts.

We can't even play all our kids now. With anb cumming and peatling into our side + melira.

Am fine with us only taking pick 4 + welsh. Just no room to blood youngsters atm.

That is not a good reason to be out of the draft, as not being able to play all of your kids is the definition of a who cares problem. As always, the big-time prospects will find a way to get game time. The rest will sort themselves out, as some will be able to find niches to make a career out of and take the opportunities they get, while others won't.

The only reason to be happy/fine with not being in a draft is you're in a position where you need to win now. I do think you can make that case for Adelaide seeing another year without finals is entering "failed rebuild" territory, and Rankine/Thilthorpe are in a position where they are threatening to break out into the genuine elite of the competition.

Ryan has not played a game. It’s crazy to be confident he’ll be an a-grader.

Anyway, I’m only slightly cranky about only 1 pick plus Walsh, because we got in 3 best 22 players in trade week.

I wouldn't say that. We could choose to not pick Crouch, Laird, Murphy, Berry.
We “could” also choose to cut our balls off and wear them as earrings too…

EDIT: I shouldn’t even suggest that as it’s probably more likely…

Who said he needs to be an A grader?

Cumming may not be an A grader either but if he gets back to full fitness he might go close by position.

Saw this - just saying!

He's a great mix of traits that every club would want to bring into their midfield: he's tough and puts his head over the ball, he's quick, marks well above his head and can go forward to kick a goal (which he does with regularity). He played some dominant games across the year and stands up when his team needs him.

The hard-working Norwood midfielder has shown he can match it with senior types playing in the SANFL, but he has also played well at under-18 level. Recruiters tend to think he plays best as a wingman, where he uses his endurance, turn of speed and sweeping left foot kick to cut through teams, but he has also played in an inside midfield role at stages too.

The Oakleigh Chargers midfielder has been viewed as a top-10 player in this year's group for some time now, having starred for Vic Metro at the under-16s championships and then last year averaging 22 disposals and four tackles in the NAB League. He is a midfield bull who extracts the ball at will, is sharp by hand and can also push forward and hit the scoreboard. He's tough, consistent and ready to play, and has been closely monitored throughout this season by clubs with early selections.

One of the most attacking midfielders in the draft he uses his speed and smarts to win plenty of the ball on the inside and outside. The natural ball winner would finally get to play for Vic Metro and would end the game with 29 disposals and five clearances and was only two possessions off Will Ashcroft, who was the highest ball winner for the game. He was not able to back up his strong pre-season testing at the National Combine, but was impressive in interviews with the well spoken Charger embracing the pressure and how he may have to play interstate at the next level.

Recent top 5 picks - Dow, Stephens, Phillips and Tsatas

A better backup ruckman is my main concern with our squad.

Vader going back to the Ben Jarman drafting ....it was at the time, if you nominated a father / son in the main draft, you were obligated to take him ....UNLESS, he was bid on, then you could refuse to meet the bid

It's why we only nominated Jarman as a Rookie father son ....and not in the main draft

Is this still the case now with Welsh ?

No.

If he's bid on we don't have to match, but we aren't obliged to take him in the main draft.

I suspect we will though.
