I reckon if someone bids on him before 25-30 we'd have to stop and think about matching. Probably still would but it's food for thought.Whats the point of nominating him then?

What I mean is what’s in it for the player if he’s not guaranteed to be taken by his nominated club in the national draft?I reckon if someone bids on him before 25-30 we'd have to stop and think about matching. Probably still would but it's food for thought.
He most likely gets to play for the club of his choice, which his Dad played for. What I mean is what’s in it for the player if he’s not guaranteed to be taken by his nominated club in the national draft?
That can happen if we draft himHe most likely gets to play for the club of his choice, which his Dad played for.
That's the whole concept of father sons.
Now it's very, very likely as we have 1st dibs. That can happen if we draft him
Got Langford clearly ahead of SmillieWhat do people think about Josh Smilie? Would he be a good fit for us if Smith / Draper is gone?
Is he the one slower than Crouch?Got Langford clearly ahead of Smillie
We have to nominate him to have first rights on a bidWhat I mean is what’s in it for the player if he’s not guaranteed to be taken by his nominated club in the national draft?
So we’re passing on another one and letting him go to Kuwarna! TypicalWhy Kuwarna?
I get that, it works for us, but the player doesn’t seem to get much, I can understand if they go high and the collateral was a lot, but with a later pick?We have to nominate him to have first rights on a bid
JonesI wouldn't say that. We could choose to not pick Crouch, Laird, Murphy, Berry.
I'm not totally certain. There are 2 separate F/S Nomination dates - today (31st Oct) and Friday 22nd November. The November date pre-selects them in the RD, so you don't need to worry about being gazumped.Vader going back to the Ben Jarman drafting ....it was at the time, if you nominated a father / son in the main draft, you were obligated to take him ....UNLESS, he was bid on, then you could refuse to meet the bid
It's why we only nominated Jarman as a Rookie father son ....and not in the main draft
Is this still the case now with Welsh ?
Yes, they do.I get that, it works for us, but the player doesn’t seem to get much, I can understand if they go high and the collateral was a lot, but with a later pick?
Does the player automatically go on to the rookie list if no one picks him?
Concern for me over Smilie was he didn't step up when the quality stepped up - ie at the Nationals - although he wasn't terrible, which leads to the thought that maybe he was bullying the general U18 league with his size advantage. Not a great mark for his height but a very good kick. Wonder if he'll potentially be a defender rather than mid. Good player - maybe 7-12 range rather than the top echelon. What do people think about Josh Smilie? Would he be a good fit for us if Smith / Draper is gone?
