All of whom were taken with really late speculative picks, none of whom have jumped out and screamed "pick me", at least in terms of the KPD's on our list who have not played games yet.

It is not surprising the last KPD we drafted that has actually worked out we took in the second round (McCartin). If we are only picking these players with 3rd, 4th or rookie selections we are not serious.
I'm less concerned with where we pick them than you. But there were plenty of tall options earlier that we just waltzed past to pick up another small fwd option and a half back.

But I think we're likely to lose 3 at the end of next year, so we might have to grab another mature ager then and at least 1 draftee KPD.

And I'm not sure Riak is the type we need, but tbf he'll be better than Cochran as an actual defender at least.

Heath Grundy Dane Rampe both KPDs selected midway through the rookie draft ahaha
BrianLake (71)
BenRutten (40 in rookie draft)
MatthewEgan (62)
JoshGibson (7 in rookie draft)
TomLonergan (50 in rookie draft)

And that's just between 2001-2006. The list goes on, and it seems a lot of the gorillas get picked up very late.

Except a lot of people on this thread agree with me. Also noticed you did not answer my question.
Mate.
You're being a bit hysterical.
Your question has literally no relevance to the title. Nor the OP.
We're talking about the draft.
Who the swans take tonight or last night has no relevance to McCartins fitness. In Rd 1 2025 . Or Rd 23

Stop mashing the screen.

It's good advice.

It shows we are not addressing clear list weaknesses, and we have known about this weakness for years and have done nothing to really address it.
With all due respect, that's garbage. Over the last couple of years we have been linked to a number of established KPDs but each time the deals have fallen over or we have been knocked back. We even had to settle for Hamling, who was playing in the WAFL because we were that desperate.

We grabbed Snell, Francis and Arnold in the meantime, so to say we haven't tried is disingenuous.

Don't think Andrew is the Rampe replacement tbh seems more like a McCartin second tall type and Snell will be the Rampe lockdown type.

Just feel like we maybe could have gone for a KPF but they must truely believe in Chamberlain and King to work out.

Probably want a mature age rookie selection tomorrow but also happy if we don't because it means Gussy is in line

Bice is the one for the Rampe replacement really like that pick very good pick. Makes sense bridges that gap and he’s ready to go now

Just LOL

In what world did we replace Rampe? Maybe with Riak to some degree.

Bice can come in and cover I mean it’s better than Francis “covering” and that’s generous on Francis who I have no idea why we are redrafting for now

I was bored and checked the last few years draft threads you say every year we got it right and can look at the other need next draft 🤣

22 you have about 20 posts that Konstanty will be a gun , North must have read your work 🤣.

Maybe you will be right this time

Be fair though Jacob made more tackles than our whole midfield in the GF while 10 drinks down

Again, what are you talking about?

Bice is nothing like Rampe, other than they may both start in the back half at a bounce.

We have Papley
We have Hayward
The mature age defender is not a Rampe replacement as he is a running attacking defender, not a lock down.
The KPD we got is undersized, can't take on the 200cm key forwards.

Needed a small forward was our no1 need. Yeah we got smoked in the middle our forwards were worse as we had 3 lumbering forwards that did diddly squat keeping it in there.

Playing mids forward doesn’t mean we had mediums needed one, second pick is an in between not really a true small but not a medium, huge upside pick though.

Love the two picks we did tonight made sense. Ready made defender that’s not Francis, and a KPD we can develop for a few years. I wasn’t a fan of Cochran in the ND was fine taking him in the rookie. At least wanted 4 picks before we did

Covers defenders right now, sure Rampe is more lockdown but we get an injury there he’s ready and has the body not much development needed he’s good to go.

The issue is though who is after Hayward and Papley if they go down given their durability took a hit. The cupboard is pretty bare for our general forwards. Also with Parker gone it opens up a spot. We need more competition in that area of our list.

Our ground level game in the f50 was appalling in the GF. Two athletic and crafty forwards does give me optimism. Both Dattoli and Bowan are rated very well aerially so that ticks off a need. It’s how the game is shaping, the general forwards are critical.

Wicks had opportunities this year but couldn’t grasp it. Corey/Cleary/Campbell roamed through there but were out of position. So picking up two fwds who can compete I’m content with. Dattoli seems the type that could impact early too.

I too would love a 200cm kpd given we are an undersized defence. The depth is a concern/unknown, but Snell and Edwards were on the emergencies on numerous occasions this year so hoping they can take a big step next year.

I picture Bice as Mal and Dawson having a baby
I can't unsee that now...
