Season 3 Smiling GIF by The Simpsons

If the rumours of the Dees being keen on Smillie are true, I'd do it. I was wedded to Smillie and Reid with the rumours of North into Tauru early in the draft, but can't see both slipping through to 7 and 8 now, and Smillie was the one I was most keen on.

2 (FOS/Smith/Draper) + 15 (Lindsay/Trainor/Shanahan) + 16 (Lindsay/Trainor/Shanahan) + 21 (Hynes/JWhitlock/Moraes) would be a great draft along with Cole and Hofmann. If we were confident on Smillie and Reid being available after Lalor, Ashcroft, Tauru, FOS, Draper, Langford, Smith I'd be happy to stick with 7 and 8, but if Tauru doesn't go top 7 we only get one crack of Smillie/Reid/Langford maybe. North kind of hold our fate in the palms of their hands. If they stick with 2 and go Tauru happy days, if they go another mid it's a bit deflating.

Agree. Rather 2 x top 10 picks than a pick 2 and getting 2 x players 15 & 16 compared to what we can get at pick 8. Quality over quantity
Most likely scenario is we are still taking 7&8 to the draft as the thinking is the Tigers will come to the party with north, that was the opinion early this week

And everyone please wear a hat if out in the sun, Billings most talented we have had in 30 years OH BOY

The same tiering of players at P8 will be available at 21.

It’s a huge group who would all appeal to different clubs.

For example: Cal Twomey said Jack Whitlock could go as high as p10 to Richmond

Likely in that group:

Alix Tauru
Murphy Reid
Tobie Travaglia
Harry Armstrong
Bo Allan
Luke Trainor
Taj Hotton
Jobe Shanahan
Xavier Lindsay
Joe Berry
Jack Whitlock
Matt Whitlock
Alex Dodson
Cooper Hynes
Jesse Dattoli
Jonty Faull
I get this draft is probably different but just trading out of the top 8 for late teens picks just seems wrong. We’ve absolutely been crying out for serious midfield talent for 10+ years. With potential to grab 2 at our picks. Can’t rely on us thinking Ldu is ours next year. Just not gonna get the players of that Ilk in the late teens.

I just keep thinking back to how freo pretty much changed there whole look in on draft. Serong and young pick 7-9 and brayshaw pick 2 the next year has set them up for a decent crack for years to come. With our current hand I could see us doing something similar.

Agree. And if we do I really hope it’s because Rymps luuuuves someone that they are very confident will be there. Not a “gee, we like the range down there, let’s grab a couple of picks and have a lash”.

Work through the top 10 picks.

If north don’t trade down or reach we are likely missing all the gun mids

It’s called an opinion Mowerman, and talent doesn’t equal production.

Please not even in the top50 for last 30 years
The bloke had a nervous breakdown lining up for goals

All he was good for was collecting balls that went over the fence at training

Jagga accumulates and has less hurt then either potential top 2 prospect.
He acknowledged that in his interview on Gettable. Also spoke about working on having more impact with the ball by focussing on his biomechanics. He's a pro. I think the general footy world has started to undervalue Jagga a little, because of the depth of talent in this draft.

I'm adamant there is no way he slides, and I still have him at Pick 1 in my book. Footballers who can win their own ball 30+ times a match are worth their weight in gold.

I honestly hope akaifu is right and Jagga does slide to us. It would be an amazing coup for the Saints.

I'll puke if we take Lindsay with pick 7.

Also, to everyone saying that if we trade picks with GWS to grab picks 15 and 16 to select Hotton, think again.

There would be close to zero chance the club would of delisted Olli, only to draft his brother a month later. These descions have ramifications

Lindsay is late teens

I think everyone is trying to force the hand of everyone else.. Tigers trying to force North to use pick 2 on Tauru.. but Melbourne then trying spreading rumours that they will take Smilie before the tigers, which may be to force tigers to do the pick swap so Melbourne´s true target falls to them

Who knows! I do think that here is a bit of cloak and dagger going on

Pretty pumped that no one is talking up Hoffmann to be honest. 3rd fastest over 20m in the country. Good size, good mark and elite kicking. He’s gonna be a steal

This is not a go at you.... but, how many minutes have you watched him play?
Apart from the received footage have we seen what any of these players do off the ball ?
St Kilda may pick the wrong player. But they won't do it with less information than us watching at home.
Watched pretty much all the champs games and highlights of some of his will games. Without coming across as arrogant I’ve followed the draft for 10 plus years now and I don’t make assessments on players lightly.

You can go like back at many of posts re draft.

I’m basing this on important things I think mids need to have. I mean do you dissagree with me re my analysis of his ability to move in and out of stoppages ?
