Hall will go on the rookie list.

DraftGuru had us at 5 rookies and 2 Cat B this year - Heath, Sharman, Caminiti, Hayes, Hall, McLennan (B), O'Connell (B).

Sharman will have to be moved off the list this year while Heath is eligible to stay there since he hasn't played a game. Caminiti has 1 year eligibility left on it so may or may not be moved. So after the 2 known rookie additions, we have space to add 1 more if we just promote Sharman or two if we promote Caminiti as well. (Max 6 rookies, 2 Cat B*). (edited because AFL website had wrong number)

If Peckett doesnt get a bid placed on him, we can directly add him to the rookie list rather than the senior list.
I just had a look and it seems that Caminiti signed a 3 year extension last year to take him until 2026. It would seem he is still on the Rookie list though so It's possible he may be moved this year ahead of time hence Crouch being moved to it.

All I can say is that its a big ass joke now and the Rookie list should just be removed entirely outside of the CatB rookies.

I am very bullish about us making Finals next year ...and next year the draft will be compromised and we look like we will hit Free Agency anyway
I really hope we can make the 8.
But it is a risk are we really sure that we’re better than
Brisbane
Carlton
Collingwood
Fremantle
Geelong
Hawthorn
Melbourne
Port Adelaide
Sydney
Western Bulldogs

That’s 10 quality teams without anything going wrong.

We’re making finals next year. I can feel it deep inside me. Kids are going to bring it, especially Mattaes. We’ll all look back in awe. It’ll be the year of the Pou. The dawning of a Pou era. It’s a Pou in.

We have the players to make the 8, but we need a lot to go right. We need a good run with injuries fora change, a fit and firing King. Henry to play all year, etc.

Improvement in the midfield will determine if we make it or not. Macrae will help, but we need to old Steele back, and players like Pou to emerge.

PS Nasiah the Massiah could be our man man next season.

If things go to plan, 2027 onward for as long as Nas Windy Mitch Pou Wilson can lead the group
I was thinking 2027 as well but when Nas, Pou etc are 24ish, Steele, Wilkie, Marshall will be 31-32 and won't be playing at the level they are now.

It's hard to say whether the development of our young core will out do the aging key players.

I know we need to be careful talking about barely 18 year olds but did anyone else think Jagga came across a little bit floggy on gettable? There's no way he made his bed before school growing up.

Funny you should mention it; I watched him and thought he was the Anti-Billings alpha dog we need. Mature, assured, commanding. Not a hint of shyness. For an 18-yr old about to hit the big time it's very encouraging.

I remember watching interviews of most of our first rounders Billings, Paddy, Gresham, Clark, and even others like Stuv, Sincs, Ross, Tim, Steele and so on and they mostly looked humble and unassuming, so it's no surprise that we played our footy that way. The phrase "Petrified of the spotlight" comes to mind. And we expected those guys to have the mental fortitude to front up every week and be effective within the ever-present pressure of saving our club from eternal ridicule. We expected some of them to lead our club.

I'd be rapt for Jagga to land at St Kilda. I would certainly hope anyone on our list management team who found him too floggy for the Saints would be immediately relieved of their duties and sent to Essendon like we did with the infamous Trout, albeit 10 years too late.

I think Wilkie easily can as a key defender and a late starter

Marshall late starter too but the crash and bash in the ruck might make his body deteriorate quicker - which is why I’ve wanted him to have a partner this whole time

Steele doesn’t have to be a star

Collingwood 2023; Pendles, Sidebottom, Howe, WHE etc all well into their 30s

We just need to find our game-winning superstars which is why I want us to trade up to pick 2 because FOS to me looks the most likely

I thought Pou was the biggest FIGJAM I had ever laid eyes on, now he is my favourite player because he recognised his flaws and went back to the VFL to work hard while maintaining his inner belief.

These new breed of kids don't have the same quiet, humble nature that was the standard up until about 5/6 years ago, but I think its ultimately been a good thing. We had an extremely introverted, borderline autistic group under Richo. I think the stature of the club probably blends into this, players are naturally lower profile than Collingwood or Carlton players so they go about their business quietly.

Far more first round picks are ready to impact straight away and believe they are at the level by the time their first game rolls around. Took Joey Montagna 4 seasons just to start believing he belonged, and from memory BJ Goddard didn't really become a true star until his 5th or 6th year. NAS, Pou, Owens, Wilson all contributed very early on and are improving every game. Will always have your slow burns but the top level talent seem more AFL ready than ever because of the private school system being borderline professional and extremely well resourced

SAINTS SENSATIONS INSPIRING NGA PROSPECT
St Kilda linked prospect Adrian Cole is motivated by the rise of Saints academy graduates Marcus Windhager and Mitch Owens and hopes to follow in their footsteps at the Saints or with any club who takes him on draft night.
Cole, whose father is Nigerian, has been part of St Kilda’s Next Generation Academy since he was 13 years of age.
The nimble key defender played state basketball as a junior but made the call to pursue footy at 16.
The nature of being tied to St Kilda has meant he has not attracted as much club interest as other prospects, but Cole could receive a bid as early as the second round of the draft.
St Kilda is widely expected to match a bid on Cole but the club has not formally committed to drafting him. Fellow Saints NGA defender Lennox Hofmann and father-son Elwood Peckett, son of 252-game Saint Justin, are also available to the club.
Cole has enjoyed watching Owens and Windhager thrive at the faith and is eager to repay the Saints for all the time they have put into him – including helping him through a shoulder injury.
“I think any team I would be grateful enough to be a part of,” Cole said.
“But it’s been awesome to kind of see Mitch and Marcus work their way up. I remember when they were in the academy too and now to see them go from the academy and be able to play on the big stage and play really well, it’s something that motivates me.
“And wherever I hopefully land it’s just giving it my best shot, and if it was St Kilda, being able to just pay back the resources and the faith that has been put into me.”
The 194 centimetre prospect finished eighth in the 2km time trial with an eye-catching time of 6 minutes and 24 seconds, showcasing his elite running ability and competitiveness – falling to the ground after the event in a sign he gave it his absolute all.

Cole had a strong back-half of the year for Vic Metro and the Sandringham Dragons, including an important lockdown role in the Dragons’ grand final win on Jonty Faull – one of the best key forwards in the draft pool.
He also played two games with Sandringham in the VFL this year and relished the challenge against bigger bodies.
Cole has shared his draft experience with Hofmann through St Kilda’s NGA and won premierships as defensive teammates at both the Dragons and Vic Metro.
“It’s been awesome … Both obviously in the academy and then with Metro, with Dragons, been able to build a really nice relationship with him,” Cole said.
“He’s been good support, we’ve been getting along really well and obviously he is a quality player too. We are both defenders, too, so we can have a chat and keep learning off each other which is nice.”

I gather some of the previous rookies ala Sharman, Caminiti, Heath will get promoted to the senior list to make room for Crouch, Peckett and who ever else. We can have 38-40 senior list, 4-6 rookies up to a 44 players, and 3 cat B rookies = 47 in total.
Max 44 players is my understanding.
Max 42 primary listed + rookie listed players. Excludes cat B
