If Jagga fos Lalor Langford Draper Smillie are all off the board at 7.

Split both picks.

You seem to be suggesting that this is a very even draft without an incredible front end. I remember you cracking the shits when I suggested that early on.

No, I’m suggesting those 6 are the front end I want - as they are the quality.

If they are off the board at 7 - then my tier 2 begins and goes to about 20/21.

In which case I only specifically want Trainor. The rest I just want extra quantity.

Quality is similar.

So it seems we are a 85% chance to trade pick #8, so perhaps Richmond are a good chance to be our trading partner? It is also evident we are showing interest in mid 1st round players like Trainor & Lindsay and no doubt others. For that to occur Richmond must be keen to get ahead of Melbourne to grab a key tall. That might make Melbourne jumpy about who they take at pick #5 or Richmond at #6. It might also make GWS extra keen to trade up to access a target player - either way it works for us.

I doubt Richmond will be interested in our pick #32, so will need to sweeten any deal with futures.

Possible trade scenaros (listed most likely to least) -

Richmond trades:
Picks #10 & #18 for #8 & F2.
Picks #11 & #18 for #8 & F2.
Picks #10 & #20 for #8 & F2.
Picks #11 & #20 for #8 & F2.
Picks #10 & #23 for #8 & F3.
Picks #11 & #23 for #8 & F3.
Picks #10 & #11 for #8 & F1.

GWS trades:
Picks #15 & #21 for #8
Picks #16 & #21 for #8
Picks #15 & #16 for #8 & F3
Picks #15, #16, #21 for #8 & F1.

My preference would be the last GWS trade where we get 3 x 1st round picks, but the likelihood of them trading out all 3 x picks is unlikely. You might question WHY we should be including F2 in trading with Richmond, thats to balance the disparity in this years draft to next. If we can work something out without giving away a future pick then all the better.

Really think any of the Richmond trades are overs in my opinion. If Richmond want to get ahead of Melbourne for a certain player they will need to pony up. It will be their decision if that player is worth it or not to swap 10 & 18 or 11 and 20 for 8.

Saints have to do nothing. If we can't deal with GWS for teen draft picks, and Richmond want to take the chance of their preferred player going to Melbourne, well our absolute worst case scenario is pick 7 and pick 8.

There may be a Tauru still there (unlikely) or an Armstrong (likely). Could be both of them and a Langford. We start trading our eight before we select our pick 7.

We were the gringe for finals contenders. Same applies this draft.

Another potential pick swap is GWS pick 15,16 & 21 for 8 & 32…then swap our 47 for their 56

mate this draft is that even that id really consider to give Richmond 7+8 for 10+11+18+20
As much as I'd love it to happen I can't see Richmond giving up four picks for two.
Might have more chance getting two of their picks for 7 and then getting two GWS picks for 8. End up with 10/11, 15, 16 and 18/20. One can always dream.

Any of these trades mean trading 32.

Richmond will not trade with the saints unless we end up with Pick 2

Oh Jesus
Complain for years that we haven't had high end draft picks.
Finally get a great draft hand with 7&8 and all we are talking about is trading them out LOL
The draft is not that ****ing even

If we trade out 7&8 whole recruitment team needs sacking

No way that happens and nor should it, in fact it’s a sackable offence imo. I think we should pick the best two players on our board at 7/8 then try to get back in with our F1 and 32. If we don’t it’s no big deal we’re walking away with what should be two ripping players. Trading back out of both is just a too smart way of screwing ourselves over, we can sit back in five years and lament we didn’t pick Petracca again.

Only two things can bring us undone greed and drafting poorly, you can remove the first by simply taking our picks as they stand.

Ok, so the point I was making with that bit (And I didn't make it clearly I admit) is that I don't want a guy that COULD be a mid (like Coffield) I would like us to take someone that IS a mid. Yes, that person may start forward or back, but must be a full time mid in two seasons.

Oh and if all we get from this draft is a "best 22" player, I will be disappointed... We need at least one game changer from these two picks, and a top line ball magnet with the other one.

Coffield & Clark wouldnt be rated in the top 35 in this draft! As much as people want to make out they have been cruelled by injuries, the reality is they are just good ordinary footballers. Other players have had similiar injuries and gone on to become stars, these two wont.
