Barrat has played mainly as a lead-up forward - leading goal kicker in the CTL after round six with 18 goals. Was swung into defense late in the year, playing the last 7 games at CHB. He isn't just another backman who has potential to go forward. He is also an actual forward as well. Plenty of draft-watchers have been raving about him all year.

I think its clear they view Travalgia as a mid.
If that's the case then I would say they have addressed that need somewhat.
When the dust settles down, there is a theme here to explore.

Tauru, Barrat and even Trav are all swingmen / utility / multi position types, that played both forward AND back.

All 'in-between' size at 188 - 194. Not quite KPP build, but bigger and stronger than most mids / flankers.

Add that to Sharman, Wood, Owens, Pou etc.

All can really run and mark. There is something about this swingman 'tweener' type that we clearly love, and I assume, are building a gameplan around. Pair that with players that can run all day and spread, and we are really prioritizing being able to cover anywhere and everywhere on the ground

Wait... did we pick all defenders to bluff every club not to bid on our academy players incase they actually have to take them?? We get Adrien Cole and Hofman as rookie pick freebies SOS you genius!

We don't get scored against because of Lyons super flood. Doesn't mean we have great one on one defenders.

We have Wilkie and that is pretty much it. He is also much better we not in a lockdown role. Howard is serviceable for now, but we have no full back coming through.
lyon doesn't play a super flood you nuffie, you're an fox footy parrot living in the 2010s

We don't have many tall forwards either. Hammer has yet to prove himself and King is injury prone.

Passing on Whitlock is just dumb.

Is he that much better than Barrat?

Or was his name put higher up in mock drafts, overinflating his value?

Both brothers went way later than most expected.
