Just out of interest how many times a week do we train and what are they doing. Would it be possible for a group of players to train somewhere else twice a week for example.

On the grass 3 times a week.

Gym and other sessions everyday.

3 day weekend for them.

Its unbelievable how many posters on here who want to get rid of a bloke who was clearly our best mid in 22/23 in favour of some rookie.

I'm hoping like hell that he gets back on the track for us. His knee may be stuffed and he may not make it but the club would be f***ing stupid not to give him every possible chance.

I'd be happier getting half a dozen games out of Crouch next year ahead of a unknown rookie.

People don’t want to bin a fit Crouch.

The reports are that he is done. Finished. That knee is ****ed

Speaking with a Sandy player before last nights draft and he said the believe is that ST Kilda have reneged on the selecting of a Sandy player for this year.

His believe was that one potentially one of the NGA or Peckett would be selected and claimed as a Sandy player but said no Sandy listed player was getting a position.
If any of them were anywhere near good enough, it wouldn’t be an issue…

They aren’t.

No room for tokenism in the professional game.

So wouldn’t be that much of a stretch to turn that into 4 days a week away from the club. All you need is a suitable gym and or a club rye, red hill, Sorrento for example to be happy to have a group use the oval and you have the southern saints, saints south.

It’s less than an hour from rye to moorabbin not that much difference from guys driving from the surf coast into Geelong. Send a coach down once a week to oversee and you have yourselves a lite but better version of what they tried to do in Frankston.

A cheap and easy way to sell that lifestyle to any who love a surf and being out of the city. Beats me why they’d feel stressed living in the bayside suburbs but if it’s a selling point I’d run through the logistics to see if it would work.

Stay a jump ahead of the tip rats.

Yes training is 3 times a week…pool for rehab guys!
They have regular meetings but mainly in season

Exactly nobody wants to see him have to retire early, but when they have chronic knees there is no returning its just the reality. Obviously he has wanted to try everything to get going and the club have allowed this, but like Paddy McCartin there comes a time when the club has to make the call for them.

Im surprised the club let it drag on this long, but there must have been some salary cap benefit keeping him on as a LTI.

"Finished" - that's just bulls***. If he was finished, he would have been delisted and paid out. We have shedloads of cap so paying him out now is not an issue.

But what's happened is that he and the club still think there's a chance he can make it so so he has been given the promise that we will re-rookie him if he can prove his fitness.

And anyway I wouldn't want to bin an even half fit Crouch in favour of some unknown rookie.

To be honest. Based on average list ages.
Our list resembles that of the rebuilding sides. GWS the outlier as they are still carried by their inception draft talents.

So we still have 2 list spots, wow.

Cole (Sandy rookie) and Crouch
Or
Sandy Rookie and someone else.

If we take Cole we are overloaded with tall defenders. unless Taurus plays round 1 in the AFL OR a defender plays forward.

Vfl level KPP

Cole
Barrett
Tauru
Cordy

Arie

Keeler
Dodson (resting ruck)
Heath (ruck)
Sandy/ Sharman/ Caminiti

Can someone please answer the following please -

Q. Has Crouch been delisted permanently OR with the agreement to be added to the rookie list?

Q. Do we have 2 or 3 rookie list spots available (1 maintained redraft Crouch)?

And just how many of them signed on as a result of the ‘agreement’ as opposed to simply being already onboard with their average abilities?

Given we took 6 kids last night and list totals being 44 across the 3 categories, it would seem we have 2 rookie spots available (or 1 if we have committed to re-draft Crouch).

Rookie

Zero Hanger saying Crouch and then either Cole or Peckett
Cole will get picked up if not by the Saints

From todays Zero Hanger article (ouch) -

"There is less certainty surrounding St Kilda-linked defender Adrian Cole, who could still fetch a spot at Moorabbin or elsewhere, with the Saints also having a call to make on father-son prospect Elwood Peckett - the son of club icon Justin.

St Kilda decided against matching a bid for Lennox Hofmann at Pick 66, with the medium-sized backman heading to Geelong. The club remains committed to re-listing veteran midfielder Brad Crouch at the Rookie Draft."

How lucky were we with our quest for a ruckman to assist Ro.
Soldo could've come for possibly a 2nd round pick.
Then we give medicals to Boyd and Blakiston only for Dodson to fall in our lap for P 53
Talk about a strong even Draft,West Coast could not have asked for better.
Bo Allan,Jobe Shanahan and Gross all expected to go heaps earlier and fell to Eagles

He has been delisted from the main list but will be added to the rookie list because he is still under contract for another year.

If he was done and dusted he could have been paid out as of the 1st November because that's next years salary cap.

The decision to rookie him would have been three fold

1 - satisfies his contract requirements

2 - - gives him every chance to prove he might be fit enough to get through part or all of next season.

3 - gave us another shot in the "super" draft for a slider.

Personally I think its likely that he'll be paid out early in the new year and that we will look at picking up someone before the end SSP on 19th Feb.

Brad thinks there is a chance.

The club is listening to the advice of specialists who think it won’t improve enough to play professional sports.

That’s the state of play a few weeks back.
