Trainor is not a CHB. He is a 3rd tall because he can't man an opponent and you'd probably prefer him to be leveraging his intercepting and offensive threat anyway due to his foot skills

The way I see it is:

Hofmann replaces Webster
Cole replaces Doug
Trainor replaces Battle
Wilkie remains

Hopefully Caminiti can fit in somehow

Mind you Wilkie is an excellent offensive player, but he never gets to do it becauase he's even better at manning an opponent.

Draft Wishlist (ignoring available talent):

Pick 7. Strike/Explosive Midfielder in the form of a Dustin Martin / Christian Petracca type, to break the lines with clean clearances and kick goals from stoppage.

Pick 8. Accumulator Midfielder in the form of Zac Butters / Lachie Neale /Zach Merrett type that spreads the ball to the outside players wingers/Half backs/Half Forwards.

Pick 32. Goal kicking pressure forward.

Pick ~41. Mature Age Ruck that can play alongside Marshall in the Best 22.

Pick 56. Adrain Cole St Kilda Match Bid. Pick 56 valued at 194pts - Minus Discount 98 points (10% of the value of Pick18) (unclear if accurate) Pick ~67 (originally pick 85 coming in approximately 15-21 picks for Bids on other NGAs/FS) is consumed and Generates Pick 71.

Pick 61 Lennox Hoffman St Kilda Match Bid with Pick 71.

Rookie Draft
Elwood Peckett goes undrafted and is automatically rookied to St Kilda.

St Kilda take 1 remaining selections to the Rookie Draft and Select the Sandringham Rookie.
Potential Trades.
Based on this Phantom Wish List, we could go to draft and make no trades and leave with a full draft hand in 2025.
If we make any trades, it will involve picks Pick 32 and/or Pick 47 to try and upgrade them without wasting any picks.
(Pick 47 moves up to approx. ~41)

Pick 8 and 41 and F3 to GWS for Picks 15 and 16 would be ideal.

NGA Bidding.
If Cole or Hoffman are bid on earlier but after picks 42 we would potentially value in our F3rd round pick in the 2025 draft.
If the GWS trade goes through we would lose the 4th and 5th round picks.

What is it with articles saying "this masthead".... if that's not the ultimate I'm a w@nker move for a journo I don't know what is.

Anyway, I can't quite believe this article made it past the work experience editors eyes. For a second I'll treat it seriously....

Draper at 7?! Omg that's huuuuge, Higgo - all is forgiven mate we got a bloody beauty! Am I doing it right?

Lindsay at 8 is a bit of a yeah, nah moment for me. Happy to move down to GWSs picks thanks. Reid & Hotton with Hynes and Trainor on the board still... that's absurd.

Back to reality though, I can't take it seriously when 'that masthead' doesn't even mention my boy Jack Ough in his top 40.

Jack Ough isn't remotely a certainty for top 40

lol how’s the form on the first bloke.

“Saints should take Murphy Reid and Harry Armstrong”

Turn off the microphone you absolute nuffy

Couldn’t agree more. That bloke was absolutely clueless.

King, Caminiti, Sharman, Owens, Phillipou, Marshall and Wood all pushing forward.

Another key forward is not an immediate priority with picks 7 & 8.

Nup. Higgins cost us not just 5… but 6 too.

Agree on the masthead thing, shites me. But he seems to have pretty decent mail. It’s still a fair way out, but probably a fair indication of our interest and we may very well not have a willing club to slide back. GWS is no certainty and our guys may have someone in mind that won’t get that far.

Does he get decent mail? Because I’d be over the moon not trading up and landing Draper.

Every time my eyes see it, I want to strangle someone. Its the same as "as I said in my previous email".

its easy to sit here and say Lidsay yeah nah, but until a couple of years have past we don't know if he could be the Patrick Cripps of the season. ( not saying like Patrick, saying he could be much better than his current rating).
Lets hope our new list manage knows his stuff, because its the year for a good call.

If you have a better way to say, ' did you even f**king read my previous email you incompetent wage thief ? ' I'm all ears.

I would have ALOT of use for it in the workplace.

I really can’t see how we land any of
Lalor
Jagger
Finn
Draper
Langford
Smillie
You've listed 6 names. We have pick 7

We'd have to be extremely stiff to miss out on all. But even then, we can just take Tauru and Allan which isn't a terrible result. Or even split 8 for 15+16 for midfielders Hotton and Hynes (Hotton being the potential top 5 quality pick, Hynes being a guy with upside given he was played out of position all year)

Tauru Hotton Hynes as a worst case scenario is not a bad return

There is less than zero chance we take Hotton the same month we de-listed his brother. Put your house on it.

If North trade down they take Tauru 100%.
In this case I’d say we get either Langford or Smillie.
We really are relying on North taking Tauru

My understanding is that he does. The big caveat is that no club will have fully decided. At least IMO. Let alone all of the permutations that go with different selections prior causing all sorts of later variations. So Draper seems like a pipe dream. As long as there is one of him, Smith, Langford or Smillie, then that’s a good result.

It’s at least interesting for some indication on who likes who.

It would be interesting to go back and look at early intel from him and others in 2023

Nup. Higgins cost us not just 5… but 6 too.

We had pick 7. The AFL gave us pick 8 for Battle and copped ridicule/abuse from all sides, including the media.

If Higgins misses and we end up with pick 5 there’s no guarantee the AFL pony up with pick 6 for Battle. They probably find it easier to just say end of first round.

We’ll never know so let’s not hang the Saints loving little man who gave us a magnificent end of season win over the Blues.
