Wow I said I rated him when he was delisted, so not unhappy with picking him up. He has more midfield scope than what Carlton gave him credit for and he has some speed and a deadly left foot, something we crave. Its going to make the list spots and how we fill positions even more interesting! How many JACK's will that make at the club? :D

It will make the idea of taking Elwood Peckett more remote perhaps?

Still not sure what we are playing at but after watching thst highlights video one of Carroll's strengths appears to be that he can handball effectively while being tackled which is pretty valuable. He seems to get in the thick of the action pretty often too.

Windy, Jones, Crouch, and Dow still have big injury question marks over their heads, Henry too unfortunately, so maybe a bit of insurance isn't such a bad idea considering the first half of the season wrecked our finals hopes.

But it's still one less list spot to fill. I am hoping we'll still find a place for Elwood among all these Blues brothers geddit geddit

Might not be 1 spot less as Crouch might not come back. So there’s hope for Elwood Peckett yet. Ideal situation:

7 - Smith
8 - Langford
32 - Whitlock
47 - Cole, Hoffman
Rookie - Peckett
DFA - Mature ruck
Sandringham - TBC

Yours was the 10269 post on this threadxand it seems as though you have not read even one of the others. Your opinion has been debunked over and over.

Gonna be honest, i read one page but I don't think my opinion can be debunked. It's just what I believe. I like the top 4/5 of this draft and I like whats there between 15-25 too. You're telling me you'd rather have 2 picks in the top 10/11 than 3 or 4 inside 25? of this draft???

Would somehow like to take the best at 7, split 8 for 15 and 16, and take a risk.on Trainor if still available.
Think he could be a game changer.

Yeah I like this Joff.
Tauru goes before us, one of the big six mids gets to our P7. Sorted.
Get the best deal for P8, nab Trainor and perhaps Allan if still available??
Would be a haul

We will probably need 47 for points if the Cole bid is potentially late 30s/early 40s. Or trade it for a few picks in the 50s/60s with a club who want to move up the order and has some leftover picks.
73 will come in a long way - that’s the points for Cole.

Fair enough, might have been a bit harsh, however there are at least 6 mids that have been rated in the top three, with
Lalor
FOS
Smillie
Jagga Smith
Draper
Langford.
One or two of Tauru or Armstrong will get taken before our picks.
Then there are the likes of Allan, Reid, Travalgia, Lindsay etc.

I very much doubt we get pick 2. Maybe 7 and F1 on draft night if North are confident they can get Tauru, but unlikely so best case scenario would be
1) two mids at 7 and 8 from the first 6 rated mids
2) take the best mid at 7, trade 8 to GWS for 15 and 16, take a slider mid and a tall.

If we draft Amstrong does that confirm Caminiti is pegged as a defender? Or do we really want King / Caminiti / Armstrong / Sharman / Owens / Phillipou (even Keeler) in the mid-tall range?

I think it leans that way. He did a decent job in the few games he played there this season so maybe with a preseason (albeit an interrupted one with that shoulder) under his belt, he could be the Battle replacement we need.

I’d rather an elite midfield in the mould of Sydney/pies. We can have max down there to build around with solid options all around. If the midfield talent is there Reid/smillie/langford/draper we will prioritise that over Armstrong I’m sure of it. Smoke and mirrors from us
I tend to agree with you but I can see the appeal if they think Armstrong ends up elite. My preference would be Smillie or Langford with Reid. Looking at Smillies size he could end up a key forward anyway.

It’s not as if the midfielders at our picks are not best available and we would be reaching for them. Owen’s Sharman king caminiti (keeler) is enough. Trade into the late teens with a future first and grab trainor so we don’t have to play him there. There will be some decent kpp at 32 aswell. We don’t need 2 star forwards we need star midfielders. Can always patch the forward line. J reiwoldt was the only centrepiece for years. Mihocheck for Collingwood. What you can’t do is paper over an average midfield.

None of those who nominated deserve a precious list spot. If we miss Cole, Hoffman or Peckett because of a lack of spots I'll be annoyed more than a very annoyed person who works in the Dept. of Annoyed at Annoyed University.

You could always go into the complaints department, but just don't take the wrong door and end up in "getting hit on the head lessons".
Not to mention getting lost and ending up in the right room for an argument.
You did give me the right directions, didn't you? You may have got it wrong.

It is a very deceptive test.

I still don;t like his stoppage craft in either being super damaging out of the stoppageor explosive out of the stoppage.
Reminds me of a less powerful Finn Callaghan.
I’m not passing judgement on the player just pointing out the limitations of the draft testing.

Where's the news we are keen for Armstrong?

Ross has said mids mids mids, unless Dalrympal sees him as Curnow, no pls no

Really don;t trust SOS.
There is none

Picked up a DFA so dont need another top 10 mid
