Enough with this bullshit rehtoric, that facts are that this draft there is widely accepted cream of the crop when it comes to midfielders that get numbered from 1-6. We beyond desperately need elite AA level midfielders to be able to compete and won't get access to this level of talent for at least 3-5 years even if we were to add to our grand collection of wooden spoons.

Surely you can understand peoples frustration and lamenting that Melbourne of all teams leap frogged us an now for the first time in almost a decade getting access to that rank of talent we seem destined to miss out by one selection and have to take a greater gamble on not as highly regarded talent.

It really isn't rocket science. I get it, it is what it is now and nothing is guaranteed but I can definitely understand why people are upset by it.

What BS rhetoric? Phillipou at pick 10 is better than Tsatsas at pick 5. And how the hell would you know who is going to be the best at AFL level.
I understand that it is a loser mentality to continually whinge and moan and b!tch we won a game at the end of the season instead of throwing the game.

The Kruezer Cup gave the tankers Carlton a no.1 pick. How did that go for them. GWS and GC have had a thousand top ten picks with I grand final in a combined 22 or 23 seasons.

The facts are that teams like North have been a basket case for half a decade and that's why they get top picks. They looked garbage all season.
Once we were over our injuries we won 6 out of the eight games playing terrific football. I was happy to see the potential and Kemp should have nailed the game for Carlton. We played out the full 4 quarters and the players were absolutelty delighted to win. A great sign of what the club is trying to achieve after being a basket case for decade upon decade.

This club is built on myth and messiah complex. It has been combined in this latest complaint. The myth a toe poke or a bounce and we have 2 flags, disregarding the fact we kicked ourselves out of the game in 2009. and there was still 1:20 on the clock in 2010.
We fool ourselves with messiahs, Barks, Plugger, Harv's, GT, Lyon, Lyon again. All going to take us to the promised land.

This time because we won games in a season we are finished because we wont get footballers who are subjectively rated stronger on underage football than others in the most even draft in decades.

We got pick 7, and got pick 8 when we deserved an end of 1st round pick which gives us prime position to get a quality mid, even two, or split the pick get a very good mid and maybe a slider like a Trainor.

So while I see the whinging about us winning a game, to me it is just pitiful and quite frankly a bit pathetic and I think no wonder some of our supporters are treated with distain and are laughed at.

With delisting so many key position players, surely? points to us picking up a few? KP's in this draft for the future.
This is why I think pick 8 gets split & we consider using a future pick also.
Shanahan, Trainor & the Whitlocks all in the range of doing this.

Truth lies somewhere in the middle amid the extremism as nothing happens in isolation.

The facts are,

• We desperately need an elite midfield
• Across a very broad no. of people far more knowledgeable than most on here rate the cream of midfielders 1-6
• Currently our first pick is 7.
• The competition is exceptionally compromised across the next 3-5 years.

It's understandable for people to be a bit bummed at the above. Is it the be all and end all absolutely not but if I was to go with a lot of the opposing sides argument I would trade both pick 7+8 for a plethora of 2nd round picks and hope to win the lottery right ?

I reckon we’ll give 8 and 32 to GWS for 15 and 16. People will say we don’t need to give up 32 but we wouldn’t need it anyway with the amount of list spots available.

I reckon these will be our picks:
7 - Smith
15 - Lindsay
16 - Shanahan
47 - Cole
80 - Hoffman
Rookie - Peckett

I also think we’re a chance to trade back in late to grab Blakiston, future third special.

Pick 7 and F1 for one of the top two in the draft is fine by me. The top 3 (four if you include Ashcroft) was totally out of reach for us.
If North was assured of Tauru at 7 they get a free F1. How that is guaranteed is anyones guess and the risk North has to assess.

Pick 2 then pick 8 with Tauru before that pick still means slider mid. It costs us a F1 but it would be an excellent position.
