In a draft where it’s been clear that the top 6 guys are all bonafide genuine mids and aside from the rankings based on their form, they haven’t really changed which players I’m referring to - how was I missing the point!

We are talking about the players as they are and what we need today.

It’s an entirely different argument what they might end up being.

There is a reason why the saints are considering splitting 8 and it’s because it is the beginning of a number of players who are all viewed similar.

Yep, you did. Met him a few times by that stage if I recall. At that point it looked like we would have 4 or 5 at worst and maybe he was even a slight reach, but I was keen as mustard.

Let’s just see what happens.

If he becomes the player Richmond seem to think he is - it’s Dusty/De Goey and we don’t have that player.

I’m just a big fan of proven form and a lengthy period of that being proven and he hasn’t come close to that.

If we take both. So be it.
I’ve said for weeks both look like really nice talents and in isolation I have no issue with either.

But we haven’t really improved our midfield and we haven’t drafted a genuine midfield talent that all the other clubs have.

The minute after our last selection in 23 would anyone say they were happy with Wilson, Collard, Hastie, Garcia and Shoenmaker?
In 2021 we were told Pou, Van Es, Hotton and Keeler was a killer haul. Only two left and only one of the four has played AFL football.
Many were happy with Collard and had not even heard of Garcia.

I think by delisting Hayes, Membrey etc. splitting pick 8 is a given.
