At least this draft will be entertaining. I don't recall a draft with such a wide range of opinions and lack of consensus in terms of talent available. Now that they've split it over a few nights I might actually sit and watch all of day 1 this time!

It's a good one to have a strong draft hand in, unless we try really hard it's going to be difficult to stuff up too badly so I'm keen to just sit back and watch what we do on the night, whether it's the obvious best available left over or if we do some live trades.

Its the same reason as taking a Sandringham spud - LIST SPOTS. Why not take a kid who at least has a chance of a future.

Your acting as if he is a complete spud ala Paul Hunter.

He has arguably shown a lot more at state level.

Taking another 18 year old kid doesn’t resolve the issue as it’s likely they won’t be physically ready for the gig if required.

Heath was recontracted post the soldo debacle and that says more about Heath then the club.

I don’t really care what it takes but there shouldn’t be a saints supporter who isn’t cheering Carlscum on for this to happen.

North are hard to read, I think they stay put and draft a mid. LDU is out of there, McKercher will wind up in Tassie so it makes sense.

So wrapping my head around the options at this point, as it stands for North it's either

• Take some future junk picks from Adelaide
• Gamble on Taaru being available at 7/8 and get a future first.
• Stick fat and either take a mid or Taaru at 2

There is no doubt he is dominant in the middle at SANFL level but I highly doubt that he would be even competitive at the next level. Yes he won a Magarey Medal but so did many before him who couldnt make the grade at AFL level. Last years winner Harry Grant 23yo hasnt even looked like making an AFL rookie list, so SANFL umpires know less SFA.

That’s right, the bloke that fkd that club for two decades just gave them a final poking before doing a runner.

i'm surprised more people don't do this

i know of cases where people have assaulted people at work, their employer has gone out of their way to make sure it didn't end up with charges laid, only for the person who did the said assaulting to turn around and claim unfair dismissal.

here's the weird thing... the companies just pay them out to make it go away. they won't even argue it.

Jack Hayes could ruck in the sanfl, it’s a pretty spotty comp these days. I haven’t seen enough of him to comment but I have no problem with us flying over a couple of rucks for medicals.

We can’t predict Dodson etc being there when we pick and we also have no idea if these guys are being targeted as rookie picks. I’m glad we’re looking at all options are soldo fell through, we need a back up and from what I’ve seen it isn’t Heath and it certainly isn’t Keeler who shows talent but not as a ruckman imo.

Just on Heath, he has improved and shows some promise but looks another 12 months away at least.

It is an issue, because history has shown we cant attract the better players and we end up picking up other clubs cast offs who are rubbish eg Campbell, Hickey, Knobel etc. WHY cant we draft and develop our own ruckman and create our own trade credits?

The massive flaw with legal systems is that it costs so much to assert your rights.
You have to be either loaded, or on legal aid, or have a "no win , no pay lawyer ".

This thread is doing my head in. I'm starting to think we'd be better off passing on pick 7 and sticking with what we've got. Anyone we get in the draft is only going to make us worse.
